Bizz Johnson Trail - Part 1 That Old Scenic Historical Hobo Route Susanville California
A journey along the old Fernley Lassen Railroad line once owned by the Southern Pacific this spur was built strictly for passenger service and the exportation of lumber. It resides along a place called Hobo Camp the site of the original sawmill built by Governor Roop during Susanville's early years. The railroad exported lumber to other spurs which made it all over the world as along this 30 mile spur the Lassen National Forest provided some of the best quality timber. The depot which was built in 1913 brought an influx of emigrants to the area who mined, worked lumber mills and even a 1000 railroad workers who built this spur through the great Susan Canyon to Westwood thirty miles to the west. This journey will began at the depot taking you over trestles along the beautiful Susan River all the way to an original historic train tunnel. Nature is very abundant as the canyon walls close in where once the train once carried hobos and flat cars of timber cut from the Lassen National Forest. Today very little remains of the original railroad, sawmills, hobo camps or the Paul Bunyan boom days. But one can enjoy the rich history, beautiful scenery and adventure that resides within this canyon along the Susan River. This is a journey that will take my viewers along the rail trail for about six miles. You will see rapids, waterfall, hear birds chirping and see remnants of railroad history left behind before this line met its end. Perhaps even the ghosts of the past haunt this desolate canyon which was home at one time to over a thousand men. If you wish to see and learn more you can do so by visiting the link below.

SUMMARY
=======

478- Bautista Canyon Road, Bautista Conservation Camp #36
Today we are headed up Bautista Canyon Road for a drive by Bautista Conservation Camp #36, part of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, aka CDCR.
The primary mission of the camp is to provide trained hand crews to assist the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection with suppression of wild land fires, emergency flood control, and Search and Rescue.
The CDCR is responsible for the selection, supervision, care and discipline of the inmates.
On June 27, 1990, the worst tragedy that a camp could endure hit Bautista. Seventeen Bautista crewmembers were overrun while battling a fire in the Domenigoni Mountains, Southwest of Hemet. This fire resulted in the death of two Bautista crew members, Victor Ferrara and Aaron Perry.
In remembrance of the fallen firefighters of Bautista and fallen firefighters throughout the State, fire fighter memorials began dedications in 1997.
The Bautista CDCR has proudly represented the camp program by responding to emergency incidents from the borders of Oregon to Mexico and the Pacific Ocean to Nevada/Arizona.
CALFIRE maintains 44 camps throughout California, supervises the work of the inmate fire crews, and is responsible for inmate custody while on daily grade projects.
CDCR staff often accompanies inmate fire crews on out-of-county assignments or on local assignments located near residential areas.
Inmates are directly supervised 24hours per day while on work projects and while assigned to emergencies.
In addition to fires, crews have been assigned to rescue efforts in local parks, and are also eligible to respond for flood suppression.
The camp is nestled in the Historical Bautista Canyon, the route used by the Conquistador Juan Bautista de Anza in his discovery of the Riverside and San Bernardino Valleys.
Also known as the sight of the original Bautista springtime exercises. Located some 3000 feet in elevation, the camp is exposed to a medley of climatic conditions, typical to its high desert terrain.
Often the summer is dry and hot, while the winter is cold, with an occasional snowfall in the months of December through April.
Bautista has a maximum capacity of 120 inmates, which provide six trained firefighting hand crews.
When not responding to emergency incidents, the inmates' work on conservation projects including eradication of nonnative plant species at Diamond Valley Lake and Lake Matthews, fighting the bark beetle infestation in and around the community of Idyllwild.
Community projects have included construction of community centers, fire stations, parks, and soccer and baseball fields for Valley Wide Recreation District.
Bautista’s cabinet shop is in demand throughout Riverside County, to design and remodel their offices and living spaces. Bautista is also known for their expertise in making plaques, signs, and distinctive logos.
The prisoners like the fire camps because they rarely get to see the outdoors and get paid $1 per day. They sent into areas with high heat and dangerous situations. They will never be hired to work for the fire department with a criminal record, however.

Yreka, Ca., views of Ol Shasty and the grand arid lands north of Black Butte and Weed, Ca..Lalo's and pan of (forgot name of street even though I've done tons of treework around Yreka). on this day March 21 2012, Enjoy, cheers
Yreka has a lot of gunslingin, cattle rustlin, gold minin, railroadin, p a s t , a really cool museum, downtown, historic markers, as well as other local flavors. If you're hankerin for some old time 'out west' sorta feel, yreka has many pointiiful venues. sure they'd feel honored to have you pay'em a visit if yur jus passin thru.... no offense of the authors misspelling.
I guess i am a fucking blogger whence upon my own reviews and think, like wtf do i like about yreka...... a lotta things. but what my personal loves, yes loves, is the victorian homes, and other classic americana design wrapped around the old core downtown,...... and beyond they're more sparse. watershed farms, canyon bottoms, watch out, never know what ya may stumble upon.
Wish I had more time that day, but only went along for the ride. I did look at new 1080p digital cameras, one day soon, I may have one. I do, in the future, want to video buildings and landscapes.of Shasta Valley, beautiful.

Life of Black Bart, Stagecoach Robber and Poet | Charles Boles
Consider Supporting HoH:
In the midst of the nineteenth century, Northern California was pestered by a highwayman that became known as a gentleman bandit. Not only did he dress in style and eschew cursing, but he occasionally left a poem after he had robbed a stagecoach, and while these poems weren’t necessarily ‘literary delights’, they did earn him the nickname: Black Bart the Poet.
This poetic highwayman referred to himself as Black Bart, and only a few close friends knew him by his real name, Charles Bolles. He was known throughout California by the name he signed his verses with and was one of the most eccentric and successful highwaymen that had ever held up a stagecoach in California.

Do I have any other rights?
Will I ever get through this?

Efforts to Get a Secular Addiction Recovery Program Accepted - Byron Kerr
This Forum of the Humanist Community in Silicon Valley (humanists.org) was held on 4/8/2018. To see all of our Forum videos, please visit vimeo.com/hcsv.
Byron Kerr first met Mykel Hall at the Santa Clara County Elmwood correctional facility in Milpitas. Mykel was serving a California state substance use related sentence in the county facility. Shortly after they met, Mykel was transferred to San Quentin for evaluation and assignment to another California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) facility. Mykel is now serving the remainder of his sentence at the High Desert prison in Susanville, CA.
Mykel explained to Byron that inmates are given time off their sentences for attending religious 12-step programs. But when Mykel attempted to get a secular option approved (in particular, LifeRing, LifeRing.org), he was declined. Byron has written to CDCR officials requesting secular options for inmates with no response. This is very clearly a state-sponsored, inherently religious activity.
