on 9th December 2018
His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun has granted a royal permission for the organizing of the winter festival “Un Ai Rak Khlai Khwam Nao,” or “Love and Warmth at Winter’s End,” under the theme “The River of Rattanakosin” from 9th December 2018 to 19th January 2019 at the Royal Plaza on the grounds of Dusit Palace and Sanam Suea Pa in Bangkok.
A royal permission has also been granted for the organizing of “Un Ai Rak Bicycle Ride” on the occasion of the opening ceremony of the Un Ai Rak Khlai Khwam Nao winter festival. The mass bicycle ride event is intended to encourage the public to be aware of the importance of health promotion through exercise. On this occasion, he will lead the bicycle ride event from the Royal Plaza to Lat Pho Park in Phra Pradaeng district, Samut Prakan province. Then he will return to the Royal Plaza, for a total length of 39 kilometers. Interested persons may join the Un Ai Rak bike procession along the route passing various canals and waterways, as well as the Khlong Lat Pho Water Management Project, which was initiated by His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Everyone is invited to exercise in this bike event and join the campaign to promote traffic discipline.
People from all walks of life are encouraged to attend an audience with His Majesty the King and join the Un Ai Rak Bicycle Ride simultaneously across the country, starting from 15.00 hr onwards on 9th December 2018, along the designated route. Registration for this event in Bangkok and other provinces can be made at the website: bikeunairak2018.com. Walk-in registration is opened at all district offices in Bangkok and town halls in the provinces on 19th November 2018 at 08.00 hr onwards.

Bridges Crabs Smoothies & Bars
Continued from part 1,
I make it down to Khlong Lat Pho (คลองลัดโพธิ์) which is a nice view point to the rather impressive Bhumibol 1 Bridge สะพานภูมิพล 1 . It really is a sight to see.
Now feeling hungry I scoot over to a restaurant I have visited before and know is very good.
Its the turn of Huapla chongnonsea Seafood Restaurant บริษัท หัวปลาช่องนนทรี จำกัด to get a visit from the Knobbster on his 2016 trip.
Two dishes this time , Stir-fried crab meat with curryเนื้อปูผัดผงกระหรี่ & สะตอผัดกุ้ง Stir fried prawns & pork with stink beans. Both were very nice. Every time I go there I choose something different and enjoy what I choose.
Then it was time to move on up the road. I end up going to Soi 7/1 to Vasu money exchange then round to Soi 11 and a little mini bar that I remember does a mean smoothie. My first thought was to then go down to Lumpini Park สวนลุมพินี but checking the time I decide to head over to Vertigo & moon bar which is on the the roof of the Banyan Tree Hotel.
Amazing views to enjoy there and it's a bar you just have to visit.

Ancient Siam Open Air Museum Bangkok Thailand
Ancient Siam (formerly known as Ancient City)(Thai: เมืองโบราณ, Mueang Boran) is a park constructed under the patronage of Lek Viriyaphant and spreading over 200 acres (0.81 km2) in the shape of Thailand.
The founder's original idea was to create a golf course with miniatures of Thailand's historically significant structures spread around the course. During his research he found most structures being severely damaged over time and decided instead of creating new miniatures to save the original structures when possible or re-creating them full size or scaled down.
Ancient Siam is dubbed as the world's largest outdoor museum. Situated close to the Crocodile Farm in Samut Prakan province, the 320-hectare city features 116 structures of Thailand's famous monuments and architectural attractions. The grounds of Ancient Siam correspond roughly to the shape of the Kingdom, with each of the monuments lying at their correct places geographically. Some of the buildings are life-size replicas of existing or former sites, while others are scaled down.
The replicas were constructed with the assistance of experts from the National Museum to ensure historical accuracy. Outstanding works include the former Grand Palace of Ayutthaya (destroyed in the Burmese invasion of 1767), Phimai Sanctuary in Nakhon Ratchasima, and Wat Khao Phra Viharn on the Cambodian border. Recorded May 2011

Bang Phil Ancient Market. Very bustling during the weekends. Lots of varieties of Thai food/dessert and all sorts of local goods the thai street food is there as well. Antique wooden flooring walkway through the market place. Each weekend, there is a local school performance for fund raising. Come with an empty stomach and leave with a full tummy and a happy smile.
At the 150-year-old Bang Phli Market in Samut Prakan ( 29 km from Bangkok ), there are no boats selling goods but a wooden walkway is laid along both sides of the Samrong Canal where shop houses are located. The market is open on Saturday and Sunday from early morning to noon. Browse around looking for good buys, particularly souvenirs. Catch a glimpse of the traditional Thai way of life along the picturesque riverbanks, far away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Great for a weekend walking and shopping. It is quite a challenge to find a parking spot nearby. But you can park at parked our car at Big C Bangplee
We walked across the klong (channel) the old market (Bang Phil Floating Market) There are many small riverside restaurants and small shops at Bang Phil Market.
Lots of Thai food and nice suburban vibe. Much less crowded than Amphawa, too -at least for now, while it is still less popular.

Bangkok Travel Guide - Thailand Unforgettable Moments
Bangkok Travel Guide - Thailand Unforgettable Moments
Bangkok, official name Krung Thep Maha Nakhon, is the capital of Thailand and, with a population of over eleven million inhabitants, by far its largest city. Its high-rise buildings, heavy traffic congestion, intense heat and naughty nightlife may not immediately give you the best impression — but don't let that mislead you. It is one of Asia's most cosmopolitan cities with magnificent temples and palaces, authentic canals, busy markets and a vibrant nightlife that has something for everyone.
For years, it was only a small trading post at the banks of the Chao Phraya River, until King Rama I, the first monarch of the present Chakri dynasty, turned it into the capital of Siam in 1782, after the burning of Ayutthaya by Burmese invaders but they did not take over Ayutthaya. Since then, Bangkok has turned into a national treasure house and functions as Thailand's spiritual, cultural, political, commercial, educational and diplomatic centre.
Bangkok is a huge and modern city humming with nightlife and great aromas. Administratively, it is split up into 50 districts (เขต khet), which are further split into 169 subdistricts (แขวง khwaeng):
Siam Square
Sukhumvit
Silom
Rattanakosin
Khao San Road
Yaowarat and Phahurat
Dusit
Thonburi
Pratunam
Phahonyothin
Ratchadaphisek
Ramkhamhaeng
Lat Krabang
Around Bangkok are the provinces of Nakhon Pathom to the west, Nonthaburi to the northwest, Pathum Thani to the north, Chachoengsao to the east, Samut Prakan to the southeast and Samut Sakhon to the southwest. Bangkok is one of the hottest cities in the world. Located just 14 degrees north of the Equator, Bangkok is warm at any time of the year with temperatures over 30°C (86°F). The most pleasant time to visit is the cool season that lasts from November till February.
The BTS Skytrain (รถไฟฟ้าบีทีเอส rot fai fa BTS, pronounced bee-tee-et) deserves a visit simply for the Disneyland space-ageness of it. Built in a desperate effort to ease Bangkok's insane traffic and pollution, the Skytrain covers most of downtown and is especially convenient for visiting Siam Square. There are two lines: the light green Sukhumvit Line travels along Sukhumvit Road, Siam Square and then follows Phahonyothin Road up north, where it terminates at Mo Chit (N8), near the Chatuchak Weekend Market. The dark green Silom Line starts in Thonburi, passes the Express Boat pier at Saphan Taksin (S6), goes through the Silom area and ends at National Stadium (W1), right next to MBK Center. Both lines come together at Siam (CEN), where you can interchange between them. Unfortunately, there is no station near Khao San Road, but you can take the Express Boat from Phra Arthit Pier to Sathorn Pier, where you can switch onto the Skytrain.
Bangkok has a vast range of accommodation, including some of the best hotels in the world — and some of the worst dives too. Broadly speaking, Khao San Road is backpacker city (although as of 2019 even Khao San Road is being gentrified and prices have sky rocketed over the last few decades); the riverside of Silom and Thonburi is home to The Oriental and The Peninsula respectively, often ranked among the best in the world (and priced to match). Most of the city's moderate and expensive hotels can be found in Siam Square, Sukhumvit and Silom, though they also have their share of budget options.
A lot to see in Bangkok such as :
The Grand Palace
Temple of the Emerald Buddha
Wat Arun Ratchavararam
Khaosan Road
Chatuchak Weekend Market
Golden Buddha
Jim Thompson House Museum
Lumphini Park
Yaowarat Road
