Samuel Grant's New Warehouse - Leeds - Construction Timelapse
Over 100 staff, contributors and local supporters turned out on Thursday 8th October to celebrate the launch of Samuel Grant Packaging’s new warehouse on the Leeds City Enterprise Zone.
Staff past and present guided the visitors through tours of the new facility, as well as showcased some of the memorabilia from the company’s 124 year history.
Amongst the invitees were members of the Council who were instrumental throughout the project, as well as Garbutt and Elliott who drove the funding application for business growth. Also in attendance were Knight Frank, who secured the site; Shulmans Solicitors who acted for Grant’s throughout; RBS who have funded the bespoke build, as well as new neighbours Roberts Mart and Symingtons.
The official opening ribbon was cut by the next generation of Grants, a speech given by 8 year old Fraser Grant, who proudly told of his Great Great Grandfather, Samuel Grant, starting the business in 1891.
The company’s brand new, purpose built facility is on the Thornes Farm Industrial Estate, part of the Leeds City Region Enterprise Zone. It boasts 50,000 square feet of warehousing space and will allow Samuel Grant Packaging to continue to expand their offering of Value, Quality & Service for which they have become well known throughout history.
The 10 metre high racking allows even more to be held in stock, as well as store more products for clients, that can be ordered as required as opposed to taking up valuable space in their own warehouses.
The owners and managers, Andrew & Matthew Grant, are behind this vision to expand, which culminates in the company’s 125 year anniversary in 2016. The investment will allow the company to develop key areas of business and to continue to be at the forefront of providing innovative packaging solutions.
“It was a fabulous occasion, and great that so many of our past and present staff were able to mingle with those who have driven this project and enabled the continued growth of our business,” said Matthew Grant, Joint Managing Director. “Fortunately the sun shone when it needed to as well!”
The growing Trade Counter will be part of a new Innovation Centre, which will profile the latest products and technology, as well as conducting regular machine demonstrations.
