Galapagos lava tunnel Santa Cruz
Lava tubes in the highlands of Santa Cruz Galapagos
One of the cool things to do on Santa Cruz is visiting one of the Lava Tubes on the islands.
Walking Lava Tunnel in Santa Cruz Island Galapagos
Lava Tube/Lava Tunnel, El Mirador, Santa Cruz Island, Galapagos Archipelago, Ecuador
The Lava Tunnels/Tube on the Santa Cruz Island, Galapagos Archipelago were formed as the outer skin of molten lava solidified but the liquid magma inside continued flowing, leaving behind a series of empty tubes. Tourists can walk through these underground caves, often more than a half mile in length. I found the experience quite unique.
Lava Tunnels at El Chato Reserve Isla Santa Cruz, Galápagos
This is the third of three lava tunnels that are a part of the Highland tour on Santa Cruz. This is the most well lit of the three tunnels and the easiest to walk through.

Scuba Diving, Tortoises, Lava Tunnels and more on Santa Cruz Island, The Galapagos
Santa Cruz Island was the last stop on our 11-day Adventure Tour with Galakiwi (galakiwi.com). It's a beautiful island that offers tons of great activities and opportunities to interact with animals.
We stayed a while on Santa Cruz, exploring its beautiful sights like Tortuga Bay, Las Grietas, and Playa de Los Alemanes and finished off our time in the Galapagos with an amazing scuba diving trip to Gordon Rocks.
