Luka Sali je na vzhodni strani Dugega otoka. Dobro je zaščitena pred severnimi in zahodnimi vetrovi in delno pred burjo. Močan jugo in burja povzročata v luki valove...

Soline is a settlement in Soliscica Bay in the northwestern part of the island of Dugi otok, mentioned for the first time in the 12th century and is one of the oldest settlements on the island. It was named after the salt works that used to exist in the cove.
The town is isolated and suitable for a peaceful vacation in private holiday homes.
Dugi Otok (Long Island) is the largest of the Zadar archipelago islands with a surface area of 144.44 km2, the seashore length being 179.75 km with eleven settlements facing towards the mainland and a steep southwestern side facing the open sea.
The most attractive for tourists are the southwestern and westerly parts of the island. Telescica in the southwest was proclaimed a Nature Park and is both in its relief and geology a part of the Kornati National Park. The western part is renowned for its tourist resort Bozava, sandy beach called Sakarun and the Veli rat lighthouse dominating the whole area. Sali is a tourist and fishing town and is the administrative seat of the island.
The Zadar - Brbinj ferry line connects Dugi otok with the mainland.

SOLINE: The village of Soline, located on the northern side of Long Island (Dugi Otok), develops around a beautiful bay. A very quiet area on crystalline sea, characterized by the scents of unspoiled nature. Thanks to its perfect exposition, it offers some of the most stunning sunsets in Croatia.
The village has a mini-market, pier to dock small boats, and bus stop. Numerous restaurants are on nearby villages, only 5 minutes away by car.
Soline is the closest village to the famous beach Saharun (or Sakarun), one of the most charming on the Adriatic Sea, which can be reached by foot in only 10 minutes.
The village is 15 minutes from Brbinj (by car or bus), which is where the ferry arrives from the city of Zadar.
Donkey race parade in Sali, Croatia
When I spent a month living and working in Croatia in 2011, I paid a visit to the lovely town of Sali which lies on one the beautiful coastal island of Dugi Otok in the Adriatic. While I was expecting the warm welcome and the charming scenery that came from visiting this part of the world, what I wasn't expecting was one of the most interesting and downright amusing festivals that I have ever had the chance to enjoy. The donkey races reminded me a little of the running of the bulls in Pamplona, except on a slightly smaller scale, but with the idea that the unfortunate ones are likely to be injured.
This video is one I took in the lead up to the races themselves, and show how almost everyone in the town was getting involved in some way, and how the whole town congregated around the nice seafront area of Sali. The parade was made up of hundreds of local people dressed up in the traditional clothing of the area, and like all good festivals there was also plenty of local food on offer too. When I first saw the donkey riders, flanked by some of the local damsels and dressed in what appeared to be a traditional sailor's uniform I had my doubts, but it was definitely a spectacle worth waiting for.
The video looks at the parade before the event itself, and with the donkeys rampaging across the town's seafront I think my decision to take my camera in hand was definitely a good one. For more pictures of the donkey races, check out my blog post on my visit to the island. After the parade and the races was over the town got down to the real celebrations, and I enjoyed myself so much a day trip accidentally became an overnight visit, after the last ferry back to the mainland sailed without me.
