George Lincoln Rockwell (March 9, 1918 – August 25, 1967) was an American right-wing politician, founder of the American Nazi Party.
During a successful career as a naval pilot, he was inspired by Senator Joseph McCarthy's stance against communism and became a keen apologist for Adolf Hitler and Nazism. On account of his political views, he was discharged from the US Navy amid much publicity, and founded the American Nazi Party in 1959. At one of their rallies, he claimed that 90% of Jews were traitors. He denied the holocaust, and believed that Martin Luther King was a tool for Jewish communists wanting to rule the white community. As a racial separatist, he agreed with Black nationalist groups led by Elijah Muhammad, Malcolm X and others.
Rockwell was murdered by a former member of his own group in Arlington, Virginia in 1967. After his death, he became a source of inspiration for White nationalist politician David Duke.
