Le Corbusier a Chandigarh (India)
Una representació amb GeoGebra 5 d'una obra del genial arquitecte.
Parliament Chandigarh India
Palace of the Assembly / Parliament Chandigarh, India - Le Corbusier - 1955-1963
Palace of Assembly is a legislative assembly designed by noted architect Le Corbusier and located in Chandigarh, India. It is part of the Capitol Complex, which comprises three buildings — Legislative Assembly, Secretariat and High Court. This building was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2016.
After the partition of Punjab, in 1947 following the independence of India, the divided Punjab required a new capital as Lahore was now in Pakistan. Thus Le Corbusier was commissioned by first prime minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru to build a new city of Chandigarh as the capital of Punjab and newly carved state of Haryana. The brief for the design was a city unfettered by the traditions of the past, a symbol of the nation's faith in the future. Subsequently, Corbusier and his team built not just a large assembly and high court building, but all major buildings in the city, and down to the door handles in public offices.
One of Le Corbusier's most prominent buildings from India, the Palace of the Assembly in Chandigarh boasts his major architectural philosophies and style. Le Corbusier's five points of architecture can be found within the design from its open plan to the view of the Himalayan landscape. The program features a circular assembly chamber, a forum for conversation and transactions, and stair-free circulation.
The first of Le Corbusier's architectural ideals is the use of pilotis to lift the structure off of the ground. Reinforced concrete columns are utilized in a grid throughout the Palace of the Assembly and are slightly altered to raise a large swooping concrete form high above the entrance.
This form represents the second point of Le Cobusier's list a free facade. Pilotis allow the form to express the grandiose release of space precisely as Corbusier intended. The other various facades of the building also bestow the free facade via brise-soleil formed from the golden ratio.
Le Corbusier's desire for views is then apparent from all facades. The sun-shading along the offices provides a frame for inhabitants into the surrounding site while the portico opens to the adjacent landscape and the distant Himalayas.
Inside, the Palace of the Assembly houses an open plan structured by the grid of reinforced concrete columns. Again, this structural pattern allows Le Corbusier to manipulated the program freely and place offices and other private programming along the outside of the plan and leave the centre open for public use. Intersecting that open space, is the circular assembly chamber that is contradictory in form to producing good acoustics.
On top of the building lies an accessible roof supported by the pilotis. Providing usable space on the roof of a structure complies with Le Corbusier's fifth ideal of architecture by giving occupants vertical means of connecting to nature and compensating for the habitat removed by the building.

Museum & Art Gallery - Chandigarh
Government Museum & Art Gallery, Chandigarh, India - Le Corbusier - 1952
The Government Museum and Art Gallery has the following sections other than the gallery itself:
The National History Museum
The National Gallery of Portraits
The Chandigarh Architecture Museum
Le Corbusier built similar museums in Ahmedabad (India) in 1952 and in Tokyo in 1956. Generous use was made of indirect light sources. A notable feature here is the intensive painting of the walls, black, white, red and yellow. On the west side there is a lecture hall for 200 persons. Of special interest are the water ducts installer on the roof and the huge sprinklers.
Le-Corbusier designed this building as an extention of his already established philosophy, where he conceives of such institution as ever growing and ever expanding. The basic plan of the museum building is based on a grid system of columns and beams and is a square of 165 feet by 165 feet. The main building is divided vertically into three levels. Level 1 has the reception hall, foyer, reserve collection storage, conservation laboratory, temporary exhibition hall, and auditorium. The main galleries are on Level 2. Level 3 has the offices of curatorial staff, research rooms, committee room and library. Communication is through the centre of square by means of a ramp, and additional provision has been made for goods lift and service staircase to carry exhibits to the different levels of the museum.
It is a museum in which lighting by daylight has been used to maximum advantage. Light is admitted from the North East and South West sides through the sky light openings louvered to prevent the direct sun rays from penetrating into the galleries. In addition to this, a system of top lighting is provided along the entire length of the building from North East to South West. Handled with thought and imagination this provides the right intensity of lighting for the correct illumination of various objects of art.

Chandigarh and Sukhna Lake aerial view: well-planned city of Corbusier
An aerial journey of Sukhna Lake in Chandigarh. One can see the Shoe Island and Chandigarh open hand symbol over it. Shikara boats and paddle boats are lined up near Shoe Island. Lake sports club can be seen from the air.
One can also see Gurudwara Sagar Sahib near the Sukhna Lake in Chandigarh.
The face of modern India, Chandigarh, is not only the first but the best planned city in India. Apart from being the most popular city of North India, this city is also the best example of modernization subsisting with nature. A place where you would see greenery as much as the modernized structures. The planners of the city gifted the city with a beautiful lake for a quiet union with nature. A serene water-body in the foothills of the majestic Shivalik range surrounded by lush greenery- this is what forms the divine landscape of the Sukhna Lake, the most popular tourist attraction of Chandigarh.

Dream City of Pandit Jawahar lal nehru ji || Le Corbusier centre
Hii Guys
welcome Back my youtube channel
Chandigarh (local pronunciation: [tʃə̃ˈɖiːɡəɽʱ] (About this soundlisten)) is a city and a union territory in India that serves as the capital of the two neighbouring states of Punjab and Haryana. The city is unique as it is not a part of either of the two states but is governed directly by the Union Government, which administers all such territories in the country.
Chandigarh is bordered by the state of Punjab to the north, the west and the south, and by the state of Haryana to the east. It is considered to be a part of the Chandigarh capital region or Greater Chandigarh, which includes Chandigarh, and the city of Panchkula (in Haryana) and cities of Kharar, Kurali, Mohali, Zirakpur (in Punjab). It is located 260 km (162 miles) north of New Delhi and 229 km (143 miles) southeast of Amritsar.
It was one of the early planned cities in post-independence India and is internationally known for its architecture and urban design.[ The master plan of the city was prepared by Swiss-French architect Le Corbusier, which transformed from earlier plans created by the Polish architect Maciej Nowicki and the American planner Albert Mayer. Most of the government buildings and housing in the city were designed by the Chandigarh Capital Project Team headed by Le Corbusier, Jane Drew and Maxwell Fry. In 2015, an article published by BBC named Chandigarh as one of the few master-planned cities in the world to have succeeded in terms of combining monumental architecture, cultural growth and modernisation.
Chandigarh's Capitol Complex was in July 2016 declared by UNESCO as World Heritage at the 40th session of World Heritage Conference held in Istanbul. UNESCO inscription was under The Architectural Work of Le Corbusier an outstanding contribution to the Modern Movement. The Capitol Complex buildings include the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Punjab and Haryana Secretariat and Punjab and Haryana Assembly along with monuments Open hand, Martyrs Memorial, Geometric Hill and Tower of Shadow and the Rock Garden.
The city has one of the highest per capita incomes in the country. The city was reported to be one of the cleanest in India based on a national government study. The union territory also heads the list of Indian states and territories according to Human Development Index. In 2015, a survey by LG Electronics, ranked it as the happiest city in India over the happiness index. The metropolitan area of Chandigarh–Mohali–Panchkula collectively forms a Tri-city, with a combined population of over 1,611,770.
