Quesnel, B.C. 27th Jimmy Dunlop Memorial Annual Toy Run Sept. 12, 2010
This is the 27th Annual Jimmy Dunlop Memorial Toy Run in Quesnel, B.C. Weatherwise it was a crappy day but the spirit was there. Only around 59 bikes braved the rainy weather. Everyone was in good spirits with hot coffee and donuts waiting for them at Lebourdais Park. This year the event was hosted by Gold Wing Road Riders. Lots of toys for the kids at Christmas through Good Cheer. I received a plaque for videography for filming the runs for about 12 years. Very nice, thank you Larry.

Lyrics:
We've come so far
Together, united strong & proud!
To make our nation special & sing our praise out loud!
Celebrate our Canadian Heritage, and join in our refrain,
Together we did, together we can, together lets do it again!
Together we did, together we can, together lets do it again!
I'm a proud Canadian; my heart is in my song,
I live and work in the Cariboo, it's where I belong,
Revitalizing the Gold Rush Trail is what I want to do,
Together let us sing and make our dreams come true!
& And We've Come so far ( Chorus )
I was born in a far away land, now Canada is my home,
I've Loved and laughed & lived my dream,
Learned from friends and grown,
The seeds we plant today, will make our futures bright,
Sing our song together, Canada Unite!
and we'll share this land ( Chorus )
I was born in Canada, the Greatest land by far!
My Dream is to Sing for You and be shining Star!
I want to travel the world, tell people far & wide,
Canada is the land of the free, where we can live with pride!
And We've come so far ( Chorus )
Together we did, together we can, together lets do it again! (Chorus 1)
Canada Day July 1st 2017, Canada Day July 1st 2017 ( Chorus 2 )
The chorus was originally recorded in 1993 for Canada Day and the Alexander Mackenzie bicentennial voyager festival. When I heard about the Sing Me A Song program to promote music and community spirit across the province, I decided to write some new verses about what living in Canada means to Quesnel and showcase stories from three very different people who have some things in common including Pride in being Canadian, very big dreams and the love of Music.
If this song gets accepted into the Sing Me A Song Program $400.00 will be used for this year's budget ( 2014 ) for the Canada Day Celebrations at Lebourdais park, Quesnel where Eddie has been the Entertainment coordinator for the past 4 years. $200.00 will be awarded to the singers J. R. Goodwin and Nikki Howe to help follow their dreams and $200.00 will be used for much needed computer upgrade for Eddie deSouza's ( me! ) Recording Studio.

History:
This beautiful lodge, snuggled among evergreens on the north-west cliff of Bowron Lake was built by expert axemen for an American syndicate in the 1930's, the first managers being Grover Youngs and his wife, Elsie. From its vantage point it looks up the full length of the lake to a panorama of park-enclosed mountains.
Originally this property belonged to Louis LeBourdais, a Quesnel resident born in Clinton, who was the telegrapher in Quesnel for the Dominion Government Telegraph service in the 1920's and 30's. In 1927, he was voted in as Liberal member for the Cariboo, following which he saw Army service in World War II. The Lebourdais name is commemorated in Quesnel where a park near the museum and an outlying school are so named. For many years Becker's Lodge was known as Cariboo Hunting and Fishing Lodge. A full range of catering was always offered ---meals, fishing, canoeing, and guiding for hunters.
Eventually Grover Youngs and wife sold the business to Colonel and Mrs. Parker, also Americans, who continued the service. In turn, the Parkers sold to Cleanor Crump and Stan Ross, who resold to Frank and Ruth Cushman. They are the only past owners to remain in the vicinity. In 1939, the Cushmans sold to Fred and Dodie Becker who changed the name to Becker's Canoe Outfitters Lodge and Restaurant. In 1981 poor health prompted another change in ownership to Kaye Green and Lon Wertz who then sold it the present owners, Lothar and Bettina Vollmer.
