LEASOWES PARK - POEM - laurawithacamera
This is a short video I made about Leasowes Park.
I wrote a poem and used it as a voice-over for the video.
I hope you like it!
The poem:
I'm a forest
I'm oak brown, a pile of branches, a patch of green
I'm crackling, I'm rustling,
I'm snapping and crunching,
I'm aged and ancient,
With nettles I sting
When the sun awakens so do the birds
They chirp, whistle, sing their morning words
Though at night it's quiet when I fall asleep
Just like the animals that live in me
As the moon shines through the trees luminous dots freckle the sky and form pentagrams of flashing silver light
I'm a jungle
A wilderness, a web of tangled green
A zoo, a maze, a wasteland
Swallowed by drooping vines from drooping trees
I'm overgrown, I'm loud
A labyrinth, a storm from within,
I'm devious and dangerous
I'm not what it seems
When the sun awakens so do the monkeys
They're crawling and jumping, screaming, climbing trees
Though at night it's quiet when I fall asleep
Just like the animals that live in me
I'm in the woods
Where it's dark and scary
Where the sun feels left out and where my voice is unsteady
I'm frightened and unsure of what might happen
My spine shakes, my back breaks,
my body that crackles
But then I realize those feelings won't matter
I'm stronger than that, not as soft as a feather
I don't have to worry about the stormy sea
When there's a forest living and breathing inside of me
I'm in the swamp
Where it's humid and where I'm sweaty
Where it's lonely but somehow crowded
Where I'm feeling warm and sticky
I'm slipping and sliding in puddles of mud
I'm swallowed and drowned in my own thoughts
But then I realize those feelings won't matter
I'm a beast, an animal, the wilder the better
I don't have to worry about finding the tallest tree
When there's a whole jungle living and breathing inside of me
