LEDRA STREET crossing - Nicosia, Cyprus
Ledra street is a major road in Nicosia going all the way from Elefteria Square north from the Greek-Cypriot side into the Turkish side. This was a step introduced in the recent years in order to bring together this great nation that had both Turkish and Greek-Cypriot people living together in harmony up to 1974 when, upon British leaving Cyprus, it led to the Turkish occupation of Northern Cyprus.
Crossing the border into the Turkish side means you have to have the passport with you and have it inspected by both Greek and Turkish immigration officers in a queue that moves very fast.
Crossing into the Turkish side is not as impressive as the Greek side though, as after visiting the buildings/market etc in the Turkish side scattered alongside Greek border, there is no development at all.
And I sincerely hope all this information was of some help to you.

Thank you for bearing with me whilst learning how to make my very first videos and set up everything: I am my worst enemy and criticised my every single step for not making it better in a 'pure perfection' state. Thank you everyone for taking the time to check this.

DIVIDED CYPRUS Capital @ LEDRA Street Crossing/UN GREEN LINE (Budget Travel Cyprus) {Nicosia CYPRUS}
Budget Travel Cyprus #1
In the divided Cyprus capital of Nicosia, the Ledra Street Crossing provides an opening along the United Nations Green Line that's fortified with barbed wire, walls and a military presence.
Though serving as the capitals for the Republic of Cyprus (Greek side) and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (Turkish side), Nicosia is Europe's last divided city. Keeping the peace in the buffer zone, or No Man's Land, is the United Nations.
By using the Ledra Street Crossing, opened since 2008, Matt explores both the Greek and the Turkish sides and he discovers life on both sides of the city continues despite the separation.

☕ DRINKING Coffee @ LEDRA Street CROSSING in DIVIDED Nicosia (Budget Travel Cyprus){Nicosia CYPRUS}
Budget Travel Cyprus #2
The Ledra Street Crossing, opened since 2008, remains surrounded by the United Nations Green Line, a No Man's Land fortified with barbed wire, walls and a military presence in divided Nicosia.
Though serving as the capitals for the Republic of Cyprus (Greek side) and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (Turkish side), Nicosia is Europe's last divided city. Keeping the peace in the Buffer Zone is the United Nations Green Line.
Near the Ledra Street Crossing is a bistro where Matt spends an afternoon, and early evening, with a local activist and writer to learn about the present-day divisions in Cyprus.
It can be unnerving drinking coffee, when surrounded by sandbags previously used as defense against gunfire.

Nicosia - Ledra Street Opening - English news from Cyprus
Cyprus news in English reports on the opening of the Ledra Street crossing in Nicosia. This report was prepared prior to the closure of the crossing due to the repeated insistence of the Turkish Cypriot police officers to enter the Green Line area despite previous agreements. The warmth of the Turkish Cypriot people was truly amazing to those who were there during the opening and was in stark contrast to the deplorable behaviour of the 'security' services of Turkey's 'statelet'.

Ledra Street, Cyprus
This is here Ledra street, in the old town of Nicosia. I had a McFlurry with M&M, it was 2Eur but the M&M were so hard, so I didnt really like it. Ledra street has a Debenhams, and they have toilets on the 6th floor, which is reachable only with the elevator.On the 6th floor they have a Cafe, where the view is just wonderful.
