Burn 900+ Calories On The Donkey Hill Challenge (Hilly 5 Mile Walk - Level 3)
Wednesday, June 27, 2018
Want to get fit quick? You will love this HILLY & CHALLENGING level three route back by popular demand. You can expect to get out of breath, but still be able to hold a conversation on this brisk paced fitness walk. There will be regular catching up points at the top of each hill on the route to accomodate people of all fitness levels.
We will meet outside the Lee Rosy's tea shop, opposite the broadway cinema on the pavement area. Please aim to arrive by 6pm as we will set off at 6:15pm promptly. We will aim to get back by 8pm if we are able to keep up a 3 mph pace or faster.
Our five mile route includes 18 challenging hills starting off easy, with some very steep ones in the middle of the walk - including the infamous Donkey Hill - which isn't even the steepest hill on the route. The total ascent is 469 feet - that's equivalent to climbing 47 flights of stairs!
You can view the route map at:
The major hills on the route include Beacon Hill Rise, Sycamore Park, St. Bartholomew's Road, and Windmill Lane.
Bring your camera! We will walk past the beautiful Sneinton Windmill before making our way back to the Broadway Cinema using mainly public footpaths. The route does include some unavoidable pavements beside roads.
Children and dogs are very welcome on all our walks.
40% of this route is walking uphill. The steepest uphill is 15%, and the steepest downhill is 10%.
Invite your friends, the more the merrier!

David Martin -The idea to produce our own brand of tea first to came to us whilst we were touring on the continent and having withdrawal symptoms for a decent cup of tea. It really started to take shape once the tour had reached Nottingham, and we were enjoying a pre gig tea or two in one of our favorite cafes, Lee Rosy's Tea Room. We asked them whether they would be interested in collaborating on the project, and they were only too happy to get involved. The next step was blending the tea. Lee Rosy's sent us a load of samples and we spent an evening making and sampling cup after cup of tea, until our signature blend was perfected. We have gone for a strong blend with a unique taste that is suitable for consumption with or without milk. In launching ILTea we now have a great excuse for touring with our own huge supply of quality tea!

A fantastic performance by homemade, upcycled musician Experimental Sonic Machines Experimental Sonic Machines is a one-person & a robot sci-fi music act with home-made instruments & costumes which began in 2010, based at Lincoln UK. All ESM's music is original, with homemade music machines using paper discs as programs. There's also my robot drummer Ernie. There's a set of original songs, but it can tangent off into improvisation - no gig is the same. ESM have notably performed at The MS Stubnitz at Canary Wharf London, Lost Voices in Liverpool, The Chameleon Arts Cafe in Nottingham. They have also performed at Raw Power Festival, Leigh Folk Festival, Belper Goes Green, Festival 8, Northern Green Gathering, and Britain's Got Talent. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at

@ The Sir John Cass Faculty of Art, Architecture & Design (CASS), London Metropolitan University on 04 May 2017
### EVENT INFO ###
Thursday 4 May 2017
The Sir John Cass Faculty Of Art, Architecture & Design, Whitechapel High Street, Whitechapel, London, E1 7PF
5-9pm free entry
A 'Weird Garden' evening of original sound & visual art, curated by Raisa Watkiss BA Fine Art CASS. She is bringing to London the legendary & on-going alternative sound & visual series of events called Weird Garden, which started in Lincoln in September 2012, plus Lincoln Tape Club, which started in October 2013. Recordings, slides & films from Lincoln Tape Club will be played & shown during the evening. This will be the 50th Weird Garden.
The artists playing are:
EXPERIMENTAL SONIC MACHINES
raxil4
TAPE NOISE + LAUGH MOTEL
LAUGH MOTEL
GREY FREQUENCY
YUMAH
Experimental Sonic Machines is Peter K Rollings from Lincoln. He baffled the judges on Britain’s Got Talent in 2016 with his Experimental Sonic Machines. He makes most of them from scrap materials & some are solar powered. ESM started in 2010 with abstract sounds at open mics, & has developed greatly since, now with electro-mechanical music machines playing basslines & rhythms. In his shows he metamorphoses into beings seeming to be from other worlds & times.
raxil4 is multi disciplinary sound and sculptural artist Andrew Page, specialising in analogue electronic dronescapes. He is active on the London sound art, improv and noise scenes & further afield, recently playing in a cave in Italy.
Tape Noise is from Lincoln. He uses synth, flute, guitar, vocals, tapes & more, to create spoken word & sounds exploring themes of economy & society & environment, & beyond these to more abstract atmospheres, emanating from his sonic novel The $ell & other works. He will be collaborating again tonight with Laugh Motel.
Laugh Motel is Dominic Carlsson from Lincoln. Dominic uses Casio keyboards, a loop pedal, circuit-bent toys & other devices to create music that shows the influence of 80s synth pop, yet having its own unique, quirky style.
Grey Frequency is the ambient music project of audio & visual artist Gavin Morrow from Nottingham. Through the manipulation of found sounds & field recordings he explores themes of memory, folklore & modern mythology. Soundscapes are crafted using audio cassettes, tape players & effects pedals, creating an atmospheric blend of lo-fi ambient textures, dense drones & abstract musical passages.
Yumah is Lucy Morrow from Nottingham. She creates enchanting vocal soundscapes summoning the ghosts of lost highways, abandoned buildings and endless horizons, beautiful & hypnotic.
The Weird Garden events were started by Dex who plays under the stagename Tape Noise. I put the nights on to promote the Noise scene and give folk a chance to play”. It’s to do with his 'The $ell' story - hence the idea of Weird Garden, a ‘weed garden’ of less-commercially orientated plants and flora, symbolising art that some may consider to be quite peculiar..
