Lee Valley White Water Centre Launch
All the action from the official handover by the Olympic Delivery Authority of the Lee Valley White Water Centre, the venue for the Olympic Canoe Slalom competition in 2012.
HRH Princes Anne The Princes Royal opened the course & the event was hosted by Lord Coe, Chairman of the ODA. Top paddlers from GB Canoeing took part, making runs down the course for the attending media which included BBC News, CNN & many others.
This venue is the first purpose built facility to be completed for the London Games & GB Canoeing's Canoe Slalom squad will start formal training from their new Olympic home in January 2011. The venue will be open to the public for white water rafting in Spring 2011.

As four of my local schools had been invited to take part in a White Water Rafting and canoeing event at the new Olympic Course I was fortunate enough to be invited along to watch the fun. There are some fantastic professionally video available on the Lee Valley Park Website so I offer this just as a record of my personal view of this terrific facility in Broxbourne at the Waltham Cross Centre in the Lee Valley Park, Hertfordshire.

Lee Valley Regional Park is a 10,000-acre 26 miles long linear park, much of it green spaces, running through the northeast of Greater London, Essex and Hertfordshire from the River Thames to Ware, through areas such as Stratford, Clapton, Tottenham, Enfield, Walthamstow, Cheshunt, Broxbourne and Hoddesdon in an area generally known as the Lea Valley.Greater London's largest park, Lee Valley Park is more than four times the size of Richmond Park, extending beyond Greater London's borders into the neighbouring counties of Hertfordshire and Essex.The park follows the course of the River Lea along the Lea Valley from Ware in Hertfordshire through Essex and the north east of Greater London, through the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to East India Dock Basin on the River Thames.The park is managed by Lee Valley Regional Park Authority and is made up of a diverse mix of countryside areas, urban green spaces, heritage sites, country parks, nature reserves and lakes and riverside trails, as well as leading sports centres covering an area of over 10,000 acres .

Broxbourne Racing 2004
In the Thames Challenge Cup, Broxbourne RC defeated Upper Thames RC easily before losing to Combined Services by 2 lengths.
At Peterborough, they came second to Lady Margaret in the heats of the Senior 2 Eights, then beat the same crew in the finals.
Broxbourne also defeated Bedford to win the Senior 3 Coxed Fours.

A two day road trip filming the River Lee Navigation near London
As a part of a big location shoot at the Canoe Slalom World Championships in Lee Valley, I spent a couple of days filming the River Lee Navigation which runs past the whitewater centre. I discovered another world to what you'd expect in this part of the M25 corridor, with wild orchids, wetlands and a beautiful network of rivers and lakes.

Summer Riverboat Party on The Lady of Lee Valley (Saturday, 18th June 2011, departure 19.30), Lee Valley Boat Centre, Old Nazeing Road, Broxbourne, Hertfordshire, EN10 6LX
Join our midsummer party with a difference: instead of taking to the skies we are taking to the water with a small jazz band! After an aperitif we will cruise down the River Lee through the balmy evening, lit by the late sunset and with possible views of kingfishers. A buffet dinner will be served on the boat. The jazz band will accompany us and there is a small dance floor- so come prepared! Further details will be sent in response to booking. Wine will be available on board. We are restricted to 56 places and tickets will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis.
