Ephesus, Turkey; Greek Isles and Turkey Cruise
A tour from Kusadasi to the ancient city Ephesus, at our 7 nights Greek Isles and Turkey Cruise.
Ephesus is located on Turkey's west coast 30 minutes from the harbour of Kusadasi. Located almost off the Greek island of Samos. In ancient times, Ephesus was a rich city of great religious and commercial importance.
The town was built in the valley between two mountains. It was located on the important silk route between Rome and the Orient. In ancient Ephesus was a city that was at the river Kaystros' estuary, but today is a town about 10 km from the coast.
According to ancient legends, the city was founded in 1100 BC by King Androklos from Athens. In the 500s, the port of Ephesus destroyed by mud from the river, and the city's economic importance decreased rapidly. The inhabitants fled due to malaria and since the city was buried in mud. Today, about 20% of the original Ephesus excavated (pictures) - streets paved with marble and ruins of the merchants' houses, temples and theaters.

POV Turkish Tours - Highlights of Ephesus Virtual Tour
Highlights of Ephesus Virtual Tour! Have you ever wanted to visit the ancient Aegean Sea city of Ephesus, in what is now the western coast of Turkey near Selçuk?
Now you can!
Note: This version of our tour contains no audio commentary, just relaxing music to enhance your visual pleasure. But stay tuned for a narrated version, coming soon!
No visit to this vast ruins can cover everything in only 9 minutes, but in the video you'll see the amphitheatre, the interior of the incredible terrace houses (normally a separate admission fee, but you get to see for free), the peaceful Church of Mary, and many more sites!
Ephesus was, of course, one of the seven churches of Asia that are cited in the Christian Bible's Book of Revelation. The city was the site of several 5th century Christian Councils, and remains an important historical site for tourists and religious visitors alike.
Efes'in en iyi!
Ephesus is another site whose lineage goes waaaay back. Serving as a capital of the Kingdom of Arzawa as early as 1500 BC and later falling under Greek control, many of the structures that remain today date to the Roman period starting in 129 BC. The status of Ephesus in antiquity was legendary — it was one of the 12 cities of the Ionian League under the Greeks; the site of the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World; and was one the largest cities in the Roman Empire. It was also home to the Apostles Paul and John and features in early Christian texts. Today, the main sites at Ephesus include the Library of Celsus, the Great Theatre, the Basilica of St. John, and the nearby Ephesus Archaeological Museum.

Hannah Bowen takes you on a tour of a city in Western Turkey where Islam and Christianity come together in a special way.
Kusadasi 2009
Kusadasi, is reputed for one of the most attractive city of the Aegean,
as it is close to the important historical sites including Ephesus,
Didyma, Priene and Miletos.
Ephesus Once a trade center of the ancient world and a religious center of early Christianity
The extensive ruins of Ephesus is featured in this video, including the theatre, library and the
other ruins.
There is as yet no definite knowledge about the exact date of the foundation
of Ephesus, but famous historians such as Strabon and Pausanias,
agreed in the idea of that Ephesus was founded by Amazons, and
by the oldest settlers of Anatolia-Lelegians and Carians, as early as 3000 BC.
Just imagine there may be 4 -8 cruise ships docked..
About 20 tour buses are allocated for The Legend Of The Seas .. so this places are packed with tourist... taking photos are a real challenge.. tour guides with their numbered umbrellas and lollipops get in the way.. and you either have to wait.. or what i did.. was run ahead of the group to get there before the rest of the crowd.. so now you know how its done..cheers dizzysfingers
Show at Ephesus Recreates Visit of Antony and Cleopatra in 33 BC
One of our cruise ports of call was Kusadasi in Turkey. We took a bus up to the archaeological site of Ephesus, the ancient Greek and later Roman city. This street show featured a parade of dignitaries, dancing Egyptian girls, and a gladiator battle. A recreation of the visit of Antony and Cleopatra in 33 BC.

Turkey Trip - The Ancient City of Ephesus - 23
EPHESUS Izmir TURKEY SELCUK
1975 TRIP
Ephesus (Greek: Έφεσος, Turkish: Efes), was one of the great cities of the Ionian Greeks in Anatolia. The city bore the title of the first and greatest metropolis of Asia. The population of Ephesus has been estimated to be in the range of 400,000 to 500,000 inhabitants in the year 100 CE, making it the largest city in Roman Asia and one of the largest cities of the day.
Although sacked by the Goths in 263 CE, Ephesus remained the most important city of the Byzantine Empire after Constantinople in the 5th and 6th centuries. However, other destructions by the Arabs in the year 700 and 716 spurred a quick decline: the city was largely abandoned when the harbor completely filled in with river silt (despite repeated dredges during the city's history), removing its access to the Aegean Sea. When the Seljuk Turks conquered it in 1090, it was a small village. The Byzantines resumed control in 1100 and kept control of the region until the end of the 13th century. After a short period of flourishing under the new rulers, it was definitively abandoned in the 15th century.
Ephesus was an important center for early Christianity. Paul used it as a base. He became embroiled in a dispute with artisans, whose livelihood depended on the Temple of Artemis there (Acts 19:23–41), and wrote 1 Corinthians from Ephesus. The Catholic Encyclopedia notes, the Apostle and Evangelist John lived in Asia Minor in the last decades of the first century and from Ephesus had guided the Churches of that province...After Domitian's death the Apostle returned to Ephesus during the reign of Trajan, and at Ephesus he died about 100 CE at a great age. There is also a letter written by Ignatius of Antioch to the Ephesians in the early 2nd century CE, that begins with, Ignatius, who is also called Theophorus, to the Church which is at Ephesus, in Asia, deservedly most happy, being blessed in the greatness and fulness of God the Father, and predestinated before the beginning of time, that it should be always for an enduring and unchangeable glory (Letter to the Ephesians).
The house of the Virgin Mary (Turkish: Meryemana, meaning Mother Mary), about 7 km from Selçuk, is believed by many to have been the last home of Mary, mother of Jesus and is a popular place of pilgrimage. Also nearby is the town of Meryemana.

Ancient City of Ephesus Roman Empire in Turkey
Destination Ephesus, Turkey once part of the Roman Empire, then the Ottoman Empire and soon to be European Union. (maybe) Check out part two to this video for more behind-the-scenes footage from Ephesus and the ancient ruins. After you walk through the city you come to the pick up location where there are a few gift shops selling old roman coins, pipes, turkish delight, ect. This is the Location of the Library of Celsius, which has stood the test of time as many earthquakes have broken apart many of the other large structures. This city like most roman cities had running water and sewage systems in place. At one point I tour the latrines.
TURKEY - 'Kusadasi - Sirince - Pamukkale ' | a BRUIS original 4K cinematic travelvideo
T U R K E Y - 'Kusadasi - Sirince - Pamukkale '
Ever since we have a family holiday home we visit Turkey at least one time a year. But although we can almost call it our home, there are a lot of beautiful things we explore everyday.
This video takes us to where culture meets adventure - the architecture will fascinate you and the experiences you have will thrill you.
Kusadasi is a modern, western city located at the west - coast of Turkey. It is a very popular holiday destination for tourists because of its nice and cosy bars, restaurants, shopping malls and luxury marina. From our house we can see the greek island Samos which is only 30 minutes away with the ferry.
Sirince is a small, historic town with only 600 inhabitants. Back in the days Sirince was called Cirkince which means ugly. Not because it was actually ugly, but to mislead other people and to keep the beauty of the village secret. Nowadays it is known for its vineyards, beautiful squares and the houses on the hill.
Pamukkale means cotton castle in Turkish and is a natural phenomenon in Turkey. It is known for its lime terraces.
These lime terraces provide a special view that looks like a frozen waterfall. This phenomenon is visited every year by millions of tourists.
Next to Pamukkale is the archaeological city, Hierapolis. Here are still several remnants of the Roman buildings that were in use around 190 BC. The highlight is the theater with its own temple.
The past 3 weeks (may 2019) were amazing and captured together in just 3 minutes.
Events in chronological order:

History of Ephesus Turkey 2000 Year Old Water and Sewer System YouTube
Tan Ergen - Professional Tourist Guide (the man, the myth and the legend) National Celebrity in Turkey was incredible with his vast knowledge of the Ancient History of the Ephesus, Turkey Water, Sewer and Geothermal Energy Infrastructure that was constructed 2000 years ago.
Water was supplied to Ephesus from springs at different locations. In addition, water-well cisterns supplied water to the city. Water for the great fountain, built during 4--14 A.D., was diverted by a small dam and conveyed to the city by a (3.7-mile-long) system consisting of one larger and two small clay pipelines.
