The Canadians: Louis Cyr
Louis Cyr, strongman (born at St-Cyprien-de-Napierville, Canada East 10 October 1863; died at St-Jean-de-Matha, Québec 10 November 1912). Cyr's family moved to Massachusetts, and as a young man he was a lumberjack in New England before returning to Montréal in 1882 to take a job as a policeman. Though not unusually tall, Cyr weighed as much as 165 kg and was immensely strong. In days when feats of strongmen aroused intense interest, Cyr became a legend. There was no formal sport of weightlifting; competitions were held as challenge matches, and at these he was never defeated.
Rivershark Twins
-2008 & 2009 ISC World Champions
-2009 Canadian Champions
The 2010 Kitchener Rivershark Twins hope to continue their recent success this year. The Sharks will once again be lead by Tri-Captains Jody Eidt, Pat Shannon & Ryan Wolfe. The Sharks family would also like to welcome the newest members to the team: The club is ecstatic to be able to announce Jeff Goolagong as the newest Shark. Goolie was a key member of the legendary Farm Tavern and the County Classic juggernaut before that, winning ISC World Tournaments in 3 straight years between 2005 and 2007. He is also a proud member of the 2009 ISF World Champion Australian National Team. The loss of two outfielders has been offset by the addition of Mark Johnson formerly of the St.Thomas Evergreen Centennials, and Scott Newitt previously a member of the now defunct Vancouver Grey Sox. Mark is a power hitting speedster who is rapidly becoming one of the best young stars in the game. Scott is a much sought after left handed hitting outfielder who has served with Canada's National team and is a former ISC PRAWN. These two will share the outfield chores with its anchor Ryan Wolfe and left fielder Brad Ezekiel. The Sharks welcome back Chris Shewfelt to the game after work and family commitments trumped his fastball endeavors the past two summers. Shewy brings Canadian National Team experience and an intense drive for excellence back behind the dish where he will share catching chores with Kiwi Patrick Shannon

My Town's Got lyrics:
MY TOWN'S GOT
Copyright Dennis Kalichuk- Jumbo Train 2012
My town's got heart and soul
My town's got rock 'n roll
My town's got beautiful people
My towns' got a purple steeple
My town's got a railway station
My town's got no trains
My town's got a radio station
A little airport -- and little planes (x2)
My town's got a burned down college
My town's got a little less knowledge
My town's got a Jumbo statue
My town likes a pachyderm barbeque
My town's got Friday night fights
My town's got new traffic lights
My town's got a pretty cool Mayor
And a real live NHL -- hockey player (x2)
My town's got Lake Margar-et
Can't fish or swim in-it
My town's got Pinafore Park
Kids doin' it there after dark
My town's got closed down factories
My town's got sweet love stories
My town's got a movie star
A short skirt dance club -- and a good sports bar (x2)
Cold winters -- hot girls
One shopping mall -- 59 coffee shops
Ppppp-pawn shops -- pppppp-pizza
A big court house -- little criminals
Free parking lots -- expensive taxis
An old fashioned newspaper -- a modern bypass
We got -- we got -- we got -- we got -- we got....... A Walmart.

stompin' tom conners -horse shoe hotel live
He was born Charles Thomas Connors (known as Tommy Messer) in Saint John, New Brunswick to the teenaged Isabel Connors and her boyfriend Thomas Sullivan. He was a cousin of New Brunswick fiddling sensation, Ned Landry. He spent a short time living with his mother in a low-security women's penitentiary before he was seized by Children's Aid Society and was later adopted by the Aylward family in Skinners Pond, Prince Edward Island.
At the age of 13 he left his adoptive family to hitchhike across Canada, a journey that consumed the next 13 years of his life as he travelled between various part-time jobs while writing songs on his guitar. At his last stop in Timmins, Ontario, which may also have been his big break, he found himself a nickel short of a beer at the city's Maple Leaf Hotel. The bartender, Gaet Lepine, agreed to give Tom a beer if he would play a few songs. These few songs turned into a 13-month contract to play at the hotel, a weekly spot on the CKGB radio station in Timmins, eight 45-RPM recordings, and the end of the beginning for Tom Connors. -wiki

BUCKWHEAT ZYDECO LIVE AT THE HORSESHOE! - Pt.1
This is the first in what I hope to be a series of videos that I shot with my Panasonic HDC-SD20 camcorder of zydeco legend, BUCKWHEAT ZYDECO! This video was but one of numerous songs that I shot of Buckwheat at Toronto's legendary Horseshoe Tavern on August 18th, 2010. Although Buckwheat was having vocal difficulties, he soldiered on and him and the band gave an outstanding performance! Like I said, I hope to edit and produce more videos from this concert, so please let me know what you think! In the meantime..... I'm gone!

Danny Love of the Great Imposters
This is Danny performing Just One Of Those Songs at Club Figaro Dinner Theatre in Toronto; circa 1982.
It was shot by a fan of the group, Cathy Jacobs, of Barrie Ontario. The VHS tape that this video has been recovered from is over 25 years old.
Danny Love is now a legend in the history of the story of Canadian female impersonation, and even somewhat of a myth amongst younger drag performers who have started their careers since the last years of his life, and subsequent early death, in the mid-nineties. Simply put, he was an original. He was also an inadvertent participant in the rights, activist and awareness processes that the gay community went through, and endured, particularly throughout the 70's and 80's. As a solo entertainer or member of the Great Imposters, from the mid-70's until his death in the mid-90's, he brought a little bit of Vegas to Canada as the group ploughed their way through a circuit of nightclubs, dinner theatres and discotheques not only in big cities, but also, the back woods of the country. Danny developed many signature pieces that are still performed today by others who remember him. He was one of those comedians that would gladly and willingly sacrifice image in the name of comedy and entertaining his audiences. A very physical and dynamic entertainer, he was also well known for his rubber face. He evolved a number of look-alike impressions throughout his career. Most notable of those would be Barbra Streisand, Liza Minelli, Bette Midler, Carol Channing, Mae West, Joan Rivers; and there were others. Some of his character impressions were better known than others, but regardless of whether or not he really looked like the people he was impersonating, one thing can never be denied, and that was his eerie and innate ability to capture the essence of his subject and make it believable. Other drag artists try/tried to channel, re-portray or capture his performance style, particularly when copping his comedy numbers. Danny was never outwardly bothered by that, however, he would always gently encourage other entertainers who idolized and copied him to find their own style, then go on and develop something else new for himself again.
Danny was also a hysterical and engaging stand-up comic. He could hold an audience's attention as long as he so desired with his mental encyclopedia of jokes and stories. On a good night, he could have his audience members literally running to the washrooms to relieve themselves because he'd had them laughing so hard.
His secret quite simply lay in the fact that for Danny, the audience was the customer. The customer comes first and they're always right.
There was only one Danny Love. And there will never truly be another.
There may well be more footage on Youtube of other well-known members of The Great Imposters, The Great Imposters Touring Company and The Imposters that would include names like: Rusty Ryan (Co-Founder), Tracy Reeves, Angel, Michelle DuBarry (Co-Founder), Jackie Loren, Leslea O'Shea, Randy Cole, Billie Bardot, Dana Gallagher (a.k.a. Bryan Greenwood), Ronnie Holliday, Brandy Michaels, Beaux Mirada, Dale Barnette, Christopher Peterson, Nicki Thomas, Georgie Girl....
