The Magical Pacific Island of Kosrae in Micronesia
This video showcases the many treasures of the Micronesian island of Kosrae which is located halfway between Guam and Hawaii in the middle of the great blue Pacific Ocean. Kosrae offers the dream of sunny, unspoiled beaches, caressed by crystal waters and deep blue skies. Vivid green is the color of it's tropical mindscape and calm is the color of it's fragrant refreshing air..On beautiful Kosrae, pleasure calls in the smiles of its gracious people, in the lure of its sea for fishing and play, and most of all in its restful, scenic way of life. Rich in historical sites and ruins, this jewel of Micronesia was a favorite haven of pirate Bully Hayes.
Now it can be yours.
Lelu Island in Kosrae, Micronesia
Lelu Island is a small island in Lelu Harbour, in the Lelu municipality of Kosrae. Lelu Island, connected to the larger island of Kosrae by a causeway, is where a massive walled city was built between the 13th and 14th centuries for Kosraean royalty. Lelu's ruins, including burial mounds and dwellings, are hidden behind thick tropical vegetation, in the kind of isolated setting you might imagine trekking hours through dense jungle to find.
You can still see the dwelling compounds of the high chiefs, two royal burial mounds, a few sacred compounds and numerous large walls, built from huge hexagonal basalt logs stacked like a log cabin. On-site signs tell the full story.
The ruins itself is only mildly interesting. However, with a guide, many things in the ruin might make more sense. Without a guide, it is difficult to know which is what. There are a few rusted signs from mid-1990s but they are not very easy to read. Parts of the ruins are atmospheric and shady areas are good places to rest.
Though it is an interesting place to visit, I think it is better to go with a professional guide. Most of the hotels should be able to find one for you.

Travel Video from Portland to Kosrae in Federated States of Micronesia
Here is a recap of my 45-day trip to Kosrae in the Federated States of Micronesia.
I think you'll find the airplane take-off and landings pretty amazing, as very few people have taken this Island Hopper trip on United Airlines.
The trip went from Portland to San Francisco to Honolulu to Guam to Chuuk (Truk) to Pohnpei to Kosrae to Kwajalein Atoll to Majuro (Marshall Islands) to Honolulu to Seattle to Portland. Probably the best views of any trip I've taken.
If you like to travel, and enjoy visiting places that most people haven't visited before, consider taking this trip to Micronesia and the Pacific Islands!
I am still working on the business video, so ignore the last part of the video for now. I'll add a link here when it's done.
I took this trip to help Green Banana Paper with their operations
They are sustainably manufacturing world-class vegan products from agricultural banana waste in Kosrae, Micronesia. All products feature banana fiber paper: a naturally beautiful and strong plant-based material. Products include banana paper wallets, custom business cards, greeting cards, artist paper, and more.
