Visit Madagascar: The Lemurs of Andasibe National Park
Andasibe National Park is a protected rainforest area in eastern Madagascar and known for the Indri-indri, the largest lemur. A good guide is a must! Pop for the extra expense and hire a private guide instead of joining a group tour and observe silence when viewing! These lemurs, unlike those at Berenty Private Reserve, are shy.

Lizards of Madagascar
▶FULL DOCUMENTARIES |
▶ Spanish video:
Half of the chameleon species that exist in the world live in Madagascar.
The chameleon is a lizard that loves to climb trees, so they’re definitely in their element in forests and jungles.
Their prehensile tails help them to climb from tree to tree and they can remain completely motionless if they want to go unnoticed.
They are well camouflaged hunters who can stand absolutely still and reach out with their sticky tongues to capture their prey if it lets down its guard for even a moment… There are physiological and psychological explanations for the chameleons’ famous ability to change colour. They can change in response to the temperature, when night turns to day, if they’re angry or if they notice a female who may want to keep them company.
Two male Parson’s chameleons have ended up on the same branch. They have no claws and their teeth aren’t much to brag about, so they use their nasal appendages to set things straight. They battle with their noses, but no grave damage is done…

A short review about how we travelled:
The easiest way is to travel around by a private driver. We booked a driver with to company GMT+3 and payed about 50 Euros per day. As Madagascar is really big, we also booked a flight with Air Madagascar. But Air Madagascar is first of all really expensive and secondly they cancel their flights quite often. And you won't get a refund. As it is hard to get around, transportation is slow (for example the taxi brusses need a lot of time to get around and even by private car it can take hours) you really need to plan which part of Madagascar you want to visit. We focused on the center and east coast. Our highlights were Île aux Natte, Ranomafana and Andasibe. The people of Madagascar are friendly - that was an amazing experience - but they are also really poor.

Madagascar Dream-Island in the Indian Ocean
Welcome to TANALAHORIZON
Your travel agency for the 'particular' stands since 1995 for experience in individual travelling, photo safaris and adventure vacation on the fourth-largest island in the world: Madagascar.
Madagascar is located in the Indian Ocean, but even in these days, when people travel to every corner of the world, it is still widely unkown. This island has so much to offer and that's why we as a travel operator specialized ourselves in organizing trips to the fourth-largest island in the world. Our idea is to experience the island with people who share the same interests. We set great value upon travelling and photographing in accord with the nature and the environment and appreciate the cooperation and the contact with the natives.

Madagascar - plundering an island’s treasures | DW Documentary
In eastern Madagascar amateur prospectors are on the hunt for sapphires. Large forest areas are being cleared for new mines. [Online until: 08.08.2018]
Although exploitation of the region is illegal, the government is doing little to prevent it. Thousands of amateur prospectors have descended on eastern Madagascar. They're trying their luck at mining sapphires -- valuable gemstones often used in jewelry. The quality of the sapphires here is exceptionally high, and there are lots of them. Large areas of Madagascar’s rainforests have been cleared to make way for the sapphire mines, including a sector that was recently designated as ‘protected’ by the government. The illegal mining has disrupted the habitats of some animals, particularly a unique species of lemur. The mines are run by foreigners, who hire teams of local workers for low wages. Sometimes the miners try to keep a few of the precious stones for themselves. These mines are illegal, but the government of this bitterly poor country seems incapable of shutting them down. Reporter Sabine Bohland made the risky trip to the mining region to find out how these operations are making some people rich at the expense of the local environment.

Madagascar Tour
A few clips from our first month of travel. A few nights in Provence and Marseille and then on to Madagascar where we floated along the Tsiribiniha river in hollow boats eating lobsters every night with the lemurs. Also included were some long sensitive bowel journeys on some very bumpy roads through the wilderness to the coast and back to Antananarivo. A good start to the adventure, more to come, first video I ever made so excuse the amateur filming/editing. Peace.
