Shirdi Sai Baba Darshan - Part 2
Sai Baba of Shirdi (unknown -- 15 October 1918),
also known as Shirdi Sai Baba, was a great spiritual master who was and is regarded by his devotees as a saint, fakir, avatar (an incarnation of God), or sadguru, according to their individual proclivities and beliefs. He was revered by both his Muslim and Hindu devotees, and during, as well as after, his life on earth it remained uncertain if he was a Muslim or Hindu himself. This however was of no consequence to Sai Baba himself. Sai Baba stressed the importance of surrender to the guidance of the true Sadguru or Murshad, who, having gone the path to divine consciousness himself, will lead the disciple through the jungle of spiritual training.
Sai Baba remains a very popular saint, especially in India, and is worshiped by people around the world. He had no love for perishable things and his sole concern was self-realization. He taught a moral code of love, forgiveness, helping others, charity, contentment, inner peace, and devotion to God and guru. He gave no distinction based on religion or caste. Sai Baba's teaching combined elements of Hinduism and Islam: he gave the Hindu name Dwarakamayi to the mosque he lived in,practised Muslim rituals, taught using words and figures that drew from both traditions, and was buried in Shirdi. One of his well known epigrams, Sabka Malik Ek (One God governs all), is associated with Islam and Sufism. He also said, Trust in me and your prayer shall be answered. He always uttered Allah Malik (God is King).

Sai Baba of Shirdi, also known as Shirdi Sai Baba, was an Indian spiritual master who is regarded by his devotees as a saint, a fakir, a satguru and an incarnation (avatar) of Lord Shiva and Dattatreya. He is revered by both his Hindu and Muslim devotees during, as well as after his lifetime.
Saibaba is now revered as incarnation of Sri Dattatreya and considered as Saguna Brahma. He is attributed to be the creator, sustainer and destroyer of this universe by his devotees. He is decorated with jewels and all forms of Hindu vedic deities as he is believed by his followers to be the supreme God.[3][4]
According to accounts from his life, he preached the importance of realization of the self and criticized love towards perishable things. His teachings concentrate on a moral code of love, forgiveness, helping others, charity, contentment, inner peace and devotion to the God and guru. He stressed the importance of surrender to the true Satguru, who, having trod the path to divine consciousness, will lead the disciple through the jungle of spiritual training.[5]
Sai Baba also condemned distinction based on religion or caste. It remains unclear if he was a Muslim or a Hindu. This, however, was of no consequence to Sai Baba.[6] His teaching combined elements of Hinduism and Islam: he gave the Hindu name Dwarakamayi to the mosque in which he lived,[7] practised both Hindu and Muslim rituals, taught using words and figures that drew from both traditions and took samadhi in Shirdi. One of his well-known epigrams, Allah Malik (God is King) and Sabka Malik Ek (Everyone's Master is One), is associated with both Hinduism and Islam. He is also known to have said Look to me, and I shall look to you.[5]
Sai Baba returned to Shirdi in 1858. He appeared at the Khandoba Mandir in Shirdi. The temple priest, Mahalsapati, upon seeing him for the very first time, welcomed him by saying 'Aao, Sai!' ('Come Sai'). From then on, He was known by the name (Sai Baba).
Around this time he adopted his famous style of dressing, consisting of a knee-length one-piece Kafni robe and a cloth cap. Ramgir Bua, a devotee, testified that Sai Baba was dressed like an athlete and sported 'long hair flowing down to the end of his spine' when he arrived in Shirdi, and that he never had his head shaved. It was only after Baba forfeited a wrestling match with one Mohiddin Tamboli that he took up the kafni and cloth cap, articles of typical Sufi clothing.[20] This attire contributed to Baba's identification as a Muslim fakir and was a reason for initial indifference and hostility against him in a predominantly Hindu village.[21]
For four to five years, Baba lived under a neem tree and often wandered for long periods in the jungle around Shirdi. His manner was said to be withdrawn and uncommunicative as he undertook long periods of meditation.[22] He was eventually persuaded to take up residence in an old and dilapidated mosque and lived a solitary life there, surviving by begging for alms and receiving itinerant Hindu or Muslim visitors. In the mosque, he maintained a sacred fire which is referred to as a dhuni, from which he gave sacred ash ('Udi') to his guests before they left. The ash was believed to have healing and apotropaic powers. He performed the function of a local hakim and treated the sick by application of ashes. Sai Baba also delivered spiritual teachings to his visitors, recommending the reading of the Ramayan and Bhagavat Gita for Hindus and Qur'an for Muslims. He insisted on the indispensability of the unbroken remembrance of God's name (dhikr, and often expressed himself in a cryptic manner with the use of parables, symbols and allegories).[23]
Baba is believed to have grown and cultivated a garden called Lendi Baug, named after a riverlet called Lendi which flowed nearby.[24] The garden continues to be a place visited by pilgrims, and has temples, samadhis of people and animals associa
In 1910, Sai Baba's fame began to spread in Mumbai.[26][27] Numerous people started visiting him, because they regarded him as a saint with the power of performing miracles or even as an avatar.[28] They built his first temple at Bhivpuri, Karjat.[29]
Final Years & Death (Samadhi)
In August 1918, Shirdi Sai Baba told some of his devotees that he would soon be leaving his mortal body (dying).[30] Towards the end of Septem

From the last 35 years Shirdi Sai Baba has been calling me twice, even thrice a month and sometimes not even once a month. Without the call of Sai no one can go to Shirdi. When my Sai calls me I go with my confirmed return booking for the next day to Mumbai but my Sai makes me to cancel my return ticket and book for the next day. Many a times I had to cancel my ticket thrice and stay back in Shirdi for three to four days. I believe that one can only go to Shirdi only when Sai wishes, and can only return back home when Sai wishes.
I am mentally in peace when I am in Shirdi and feel physically in heaven. I start my darshan from Khandoba Mandir where my Sai had first stepped in his holy divine feet and was named by Bhagat Mhalsapati by calling the fakir AAO SAI. Then to the houses of Shailaja Maa the Grand daughter of Laxmi Maa at Godhkar complex for darshan of 9 divine coins of Sai, Bayaja Maa, Shama Master, Abdul Baba kutir, Deepak Nagare the Gt. Gr. Son of Mhalsapati, Laxmi Maa and then to Dwarakamai, Chawdi, lendi baug where Sai used take out his intestines from his mouth, wash and clean them and put them back in him and at last to Sai Samadi Mandir. The pariwaar of Das Ganu has settled down in Nanded since Baba's Samadi. I very much wish to go there. Hope my Sai fulfills my wish.
When my Sai wishes, impossible becomes possible. Many a times when Sai Bhakt Deepak Nagare comes with Padukas and Kafni in Mumbai on invitations from Sai bhakts, he calls me and tells me that ....Sir as he usually calls me and says, I am sorry I cannot come to your house as I have to rush back to Shirdi immediately but to my utter surprise and my Baba's wish Deepak Nagare again calls me after two to three hours that my Sai is coming to my house giving me just fifteen minutes to decorate Sai's Singhasan with flowers, prepare Prasad and invite Sai devotees. This time I was not left with any time to invite any Sai bhakts for which I fell very sorry.
I feel my Sai's Krupa, blessings are on me and my family. My Sai has never gone back to Shirdi without stepping in his holy divine feet in my house. This is a miracle I feel.
Deepak ji is developing an Ashram in Wavi about 30 kilometers from Shirdi to help the poor, the needy, the sick and the padhyatris who go walking to Shirdi with Sai Palki. Anyone who wishes to lend his/her helping hand in cash or kind may contact SAI BHAKT DEEPAK NAGARE on cell no: 09970434697. His address is MHALSAPATI HOUSE, AAO SAI LODGE, SHIRDI. DIST AHMEDNAGAR.

Shirdi Saibaba Temple : nO wAit tO renOvate ~
The Holy Shrine of Sai Baba in Shirdi, which is open to all irrespective of religion, caste and creed is deeply connected with the sentiments of thousands of devotees worldwide. However, concerns were expressed after Cracks were detected in this 100 year old shrine.
An Odisha-based engineer, Suresh Sahoo and his team have been appointed for the renovation work of the Sai Temple in Shirdi.
⚒
A resident of Berhampur, Suresh has been staying in Mumbai for the last 12 years and he himself an ardent Sai devotee. “It was proud moment for me when I came to know that my team was selected for carrying out the repair work of the Temple,” said Suresh said while expressing his happiness over his appointment which he considers as a seva (service).
Ruling out any threat, Suresh informed that as the cracks are minor, those can be repaired without difficulties. “My team inspected the Shirdi Temple and no major cracks in the structure were detected. At present, there some superficial cracks have started to develop which needs to be repaired,” informed Suresh.
Filling needs to be done for the cracks in the dome of the sanctum sanctorum to avoid further damage to the temple. The terrace of the Sai Temple has been continuously leaking during the monsoons for which we have suggested the Temple Management Administration to apply Chemical Coating, Suresh added.
