Pretty much every city and town in Russia will have a Lenin statue (if not, a Lenin Street at the very least!) - this one is particularly quirky as he is facing the United States, from the Far Eastern shores of Russia.

Vladivostok - Moscow (May 17 - June 2, 2016)
Vladivostok to Moscow. --- Trans-Siberian Railway Trip, May 17 to June 2, 2016
Our journey started from Vladivostok. Yul Brynner who stared in The King and I was born here; His statue is in front of the house he was born.
The second stop was Irkutsk. The city's old quarter reminded me the scenes from the movie Doctor Zhivago with it's traditional wooden houses and the old trams. As an admirer of the Decembrists and their women, we visited Volkonsky and Trubestskoy's houses. One could tell the owners lived rather extravagant life during their time in the houses. White Army Admiral Alexander Kolchak's statue stands in front of Znamensky Monastery, at the spot he was executed. The monastery also has tomb of Grigory Shelekhov, who claimed Alaska for Russia, and that of the Decembrist wife Ekaterina Trubetskaya.
From Irkutsk, we reached to Lake Baikal via Listvyanka; The amazing beauty of this Lake has to be seen to believe!
Moving on from Irkutsk, the train stopped at Novosibirsk for about 50 minutes, just enough time to taxi to the city center to see the dramatic Lenin statue with flowing cloak.
The industrial city Yekaterinburg is famous for the Cathedral on the Blood, which was built at the location the last Tsar and his family were murdered. We took a local train and then walked for about 40 minutes, along a beautiful, primeval forest, to get to Ganina Yama, visiting the site the bodies of the Romanov family were secretly disposed of originally.
Next, we stopped at Kazan. Ivan the Terrible conquered the Tatars' capital in 1552. Russia's icon, the St. Basil's Cathedral of Moscow was built to commemorate the capture of Kazan. Like Yekaterinburg, Kazan is a financially well to do city compared with other places we visited along the route.
Another over night train took us to Nizhny Novgorod, which was the first of the six golden ring cities we visited during the trip: Nizhny Novgorod, Vladmir, Suzdal, Rostov-Velikiy, Sergiev Posad and Yaroslavl. Rostov-Velikiy is my favorite. It has an unparalleled view of the Kremlin from lake Nero. We also witnessed a Sunday church parade and a Mass in Rostov. Suzdal stands out as an unspoiled village town. Nizhny and Yaroslavl are actually very large cities, their top attractions are the peaceful and scenic river sides. Vladmire and Sergiev Posad both have some most photogenic scenes.
We saved Moscow for the last. Indeed, Moscow proves to be worthy of the capital of Russia! There are simply too many fascinating things to see! The metro is handy, on top of the fact itself is a bona-fide museum.
We visited many Orthodox churches during the trip. Many have magnificent interior. The choral music were serene, peaceful and simply amazing!
The monuments in the country are many. Don't miss Victory park, and all-Russia exhibition center, both of Moscow. The monuments in these two locations are just awe inspiring!
We took the west bound trains for the journey. The east bound direction is more popular with leisure travelers. We had to change trains in each location mentioned above except Novosibirsk. Long distance tickets were either purchased ahead of time ( or at the time of travel in the station. Mid to late May is the shoulder season, it's relatively easy to get train tickets. Local train tickets were easily bought on site.
Train station in big cities usually has resting room with single/double/dorm types and clean linen, charged by the hour. We stayed in such a resting room in Irkutsk as we got there in the early morning. The room was clean, quite and rather spacious.
In May of 2009, I visited Saint Petersburg. Please see the video for the visit:

RUSSIA: MONUMENT ERECTED BY THE DESCENDANTS OF THE WHITE GUARD
Russian/Nat
It may have been the 80th anniversary of the Russian Revolution, but the families of those who fought the Communist Reds held their own remembrance ceremony.
Descendants of the White Guard - the Tsar's military fighting force - on Saturday erected a monument in Moscow to remember those who lost their lives fighting Communism.
In Russia they're called the Whites -- those who fought to save the monarchy against a Communist takeover.
It was a bloody battle in which millions died on both sides and the Communists emerged victorious to usher in 80 years of Red rule.
But now Russia has moved towards democracy, those who fought the Communists are eager for their place in history to be recognised.
To accomplish that, these men -- most of them descendants of soldiers who fought in the Tsar's White Guard -- have erected a new monument to honour their fallen forefathers.
When the 1917 Revolution began, it became apparent that the Tsar's professional army were up against a massive nationwide force determined, at any price, to win victory.
For more than four years the Whites defended the monarchy, but in 1922 they buckled under the communist force.
Now Russia's monarchist movement is undergoing a revival, and the White Guards' Club is part of that.
SOUNDBITE: (Russian)
Of course we are not calling for the immediate restoration of the monarchy in Russia. We understand clearly that people in Russia are not yet ready for the monarchy, but we see our main task as preparing the people for the return of the monarchy.
SUPER CAPTION: Vladimir Petukhov, Leader of the White Guards Club
The Club is determined that those who died fighting to preserve the monarchy should not be forgotten.
The monument is located in downtown Moscow at the All Saints Church, and it is the first ever Russian monument to be dedicated to anti-Communist forces.
It is shaped like a cross, and is being erected on what was once the grave site of hundreds of White Guard soldiers who died fighting the Bolsheviks in Moscow.
The grave site was destroyed under Communist rule, and the tombstones were purged to remake the graveyard into a communist park.
Now, with the help of the Orthodox church, the site is being restored to its former glory.

Ukraine: Protesters destroy Lenin statue on Day of the Defender of the Fatherland
Protesters toppled a statue of Vladimir Lenin in Dniprodzerzhynsk on Day of the Defender of the Fatherland, Sunday, having overwhelmed a group of citizens who had assembled to protect the monument. February 23rd is observed in Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and several other former Soviet republics as Defender of the Fatherland Day.
The holiday marks the date of the first draft to the Soviet Red Army in 1918, alongside paying respect to those who served in the Soviet Armed Forces. It is observed as a state holiday in Russia.

Jesus Replaces Lenin
Back in 1990, plans to erect a giant statue of Vladimir Lenin on a hillside in the Russian city of Vladivostok were scrapped. Recently, city officials announced plans to erect a 223-foot high statue of Jesus Christ instead.
Those involved have made it clear that this statue will be as much a symbol of Russia as of Christianity. But it’s hard not to delight in the irony.
Lenin led the rise of Soviet communism and now lies embalmed in Moscow, more wax than man. His project and his legacy are a complete failure. But Jesus, whose religion Lenin tried to suppress, is alive and well. He’s outlasted not only Soviet communism but every other regime that has sought to extinguish His Kingdom.
Whether Russian officials will acknowledge it or not, the new statue is a monument to a Figure in history Who easily towers over and overshadows all others, and the only way to true immortality is through Him.

EPISODE 13 OF VR CITY TOURS: VLADIVOSTOK ???? ???????? | A NEW VR CITY OR COUNTRY TOUR EPISODE EVERY TUESDAY
The unofficial capital of the Russian Far East and one of Russia's most important commercial ports and naval bases, Vladivostok ('Master the East') is also a thoroughly charming city, with a gorgeous, hilly setting, striking architecture and numerous verdant islands and sandy bays along its Pacific coastline.
Most notable of these is Golden Horn Bay (named for its likeness to Istanbul’s), over which now soars a massive suspension bridge, one of two built in recent years that have hugely improved the city's lumbering Soviet-era infrastructure.
The rest of Russia slowly seems to be waking up to Vladivostok's potential as well. In 2016 St Petersburg's Mariinsky Theatre inaugurated its impressive glass and steel Primorsky Stage, while the Hermitage Vladivostok is due to open in 2018. Vladivostok buzzes with cocktail bars, excellent restaurants and a renewed sense of purpose – don’t miss the Far East's most dynamic and fast-paced city.

Holland - Giant statue of Lenin in Tjuchem
T/I 10:40:35
As the Soviet system collapsed, so did its people tear down and
destroy its symbols and heroes.
One man, however, has resurrected one of the most identifiable
symbols of the Communist era...a giant statue of Vladimir Ilyich
Lenin. Dutch businessman Henry Koop went to Germany to buy a surviving
statue of the leader of the Russian Revolution, then had it
transported to one of his farms near the village of Tjuchem.
Koop is worried that the agricultural regulations laid down by
the European Union are too severe and that unless changed,

Izmailovo Kremlin, Moscow
Izmailovo Kremlin
Moscow's other, lesser known kremlin is a fairytale-like cultural complex modeled after Old Russia.
As the symbol of the Russian state, the Kremlin in Moscow’s Red Square is famed and celebrated. But there is a second, less known Kremlin in the northeast part of the city. Located near the Serebryano-Vinogradny Pond, the Kremlin in the city’s Izmailovo District is an unexpected, fairytale-like cultural wonderland.
Kremlin is the Russian word for citadel or fortress, and they are found in many Russian cities. But the Izmailovo Kremlin, a wooden complex completed in 2007, was not built for protection as its name suggests. It was established as a cultural center and marketplace loosely modeled after traditional Russian architecture and fairytale depictions of Old Russia. Wander about and you will spot the Romanov emblem of a crowned griffin decorating everything from buildings to fences, as well as a pink statue of Lenin which has caused some mild outrage.
The colorful and bustling complex is home to several single-subject museums. One is dedicated to Russian folk art, another to bread, and yet another to vodka. It includes a wooden replica of the summer palace of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich, where visitors can experience a traditional Russian meal. It is also home to the Church of St. Nicholas, named after the patron saint of crafts and trade, which at 151 feet in height is the tallest wooden church in the country.
Next to the Kremlin is the Izmailovo District’s landmark open-air market, which dates back to the 17th century, when it was an avant-garde market selling original paintings, crafts, and wares. The market is now connected to the Izmailovo Kremlin by a wooden bridge. Taking the appearance of a town, with roofed stalls lining a maze of walkways, it is divided into two tiers: the Vernissage for souvenirs and traditional handicrafts, and the flea market for all else. The bazaar is attended by merchants from regions all over Russia and is a favored shopping destination for locals and tourists alike, brimming with items ranging from books, baskets, retro toys and furniture to Soviet memorabilia, fur hats, nesting dolls, and traditional artwork.
Entering the Izmailovo Kremlin is like stepping back in time. Most popular during the summer and on weekends, the complex and its labyrinthine market space are equally charming during quiet, uncrowded hours.
