Leshan Bridge (near the Giant Buddha)
The beautiful Leshan Bridge leads to an island temple with hundred of ancient tombs all around it. It is situated right next to the Leshan Giant Buddha. If you ever visit it, be sure to spend a little extra money and time and buy the full ticket. You won't regret it. Although the Buddha is impressive, the history in the surrounding areas and the beauty of the fishing villages and landscape is well worth a little more investment. Also make sure you give yourself a day here to explore everything it has to offer - and bring a camera ;)
I took very few clips around the beautiful Leshan Bridge and surrounding area, so it was tough to stretch it out. Still it was good practise for my editing. Still learning to use the software and figure things out. Similarly when I filmed the shots I wasn't thinking about making a video out of it. So they were very unpolished and unplanned.

Today we took the bullet train from Chengdu to Leshan to visit the Leshan Giant Buddha.
Our experience wasn't the best, and then we had a very long journey home by bus!

Leshan - Sichuan, China
Leshan Giant Buddha Scenic Area is located in the convergent area of Min River, Dadu River, and Qingyi River, and boasts the Sleeping Buddha spectacle and the Giant Buddha statue. Consisted of several mountains, the Sleeping Buddha is viewed as a recumbent Buddha on the waters from afar, with the Giant Buddha statue rightly situated at its very center, creating a marvelous spectacle known as Buddha within Buddha, meaning goodness from inside out. The Giant Buddha statue was built in Tang dynasty and is now the largest cliff rock carving stone Buddha in the world.
Listed as the World Cultural and Natural Heritage and a national 5A tourist attraction, Leshan Giant Buddha Scenic Area has many historic sites that stem from Qin and Han dynasties. It combines cultural values and natural beauty and is truly a treasure of Chinese culture.
To improve the city’s image and further develop its night economy, Sichuan Leshan Giant Buddha Management Committee decided to upgrade the lighting effects of the Giant Buddha Scenic Area and the riverbanks around. This project applies more than 25,000 sets of OSRAM Customized Flood lights from OSRAM, covering a length of nearly 6,000 meters.
As the highlight of the project, the rolling mountains around the Giant Buddha are outlined by the fascinating lights, creating an amazing nightscape of sleeping Buddha cloaked in colorful kasaya. The Giant Buddha statue sits beside the river and is projected by warm radiance to present with a sense of sacredness and grandness. On both banks of the Min River, the river lines, the buildings and plants have also been appropriately reinvigorated. Dynamic lighting effects have been placed upon the cross-river bridges and other thoroughfares, integrating the nighttime riverbanks into the broad Giant Buddha scenic area, contributing to building a magnificent night tour resort.
The flood lights are intelligently controlled for various colors with optimal lighting effects and visual experience. In some touristy areas, the lights are equipped with alveolate anti-glare meshes to avoid discomfort for human eye, striking a balance between the concept of human-centric lighting and the goal of a glorious well-lit destination. With this new look, the attraction now basks in brilliance.
Now by daylight, people enjoy the serene landscape of E’mei Mountain, and watch the magnificent Giant Buddha statue awake to a world of light upon nightfall. At night, colorful lights from the mountains reflected on the water as cruises travel along the three rivers, and people wonder through such a wonderland for a visual feast. Isn’t it worthwhile?

This is the world's largest man made standing Buddha statue in Sichuan, China.
It is carved out of a cliff face of Cretaceous red bed sand stones that lies at the confluence of the Min River and Dadu River in the southern part of Sichuan province in China, near the city of Leshan. The stone sculpture faces Mount Emei, with the rivers flowing below its feet. It is the largest and tallest stone Buddha statue in the world and it is by far the tallest pre-modern statue in the world.

A local phrase aptly says, The mountain is a Buddha and the Buddha is a mountain.
The Leshan giant Buddha is an imposing figure, enthroned in a sheer cliff face.
The statue was built in the 8th century to calm the waters flowing past it's feet.
Even seated, this is the largest Buddha statue in the world and is 223 feet tall.
The designer, Hai Tong, built in an inventive drainage system that keeps the statue from eroding.
Visitors can see the Leshan Buddha from the base, or climb to a platform at ear level.

乐西高速公路位于四川省，从乐山到西昌，经过凉山彝族自治州腹地马边、雷波、美姑、昭觉四县。控制性工程之一子莫格尼特大桥已经动工，另两个控制性工程苏坝特大桥和大凉山一号隧道即将动工。
凉山州东部9县又称“老九县”，加上属于乐山的马边、峨边两个自治县，这11个县统称“大小凉山”，是我国唯一解放前没有政权的地区。这里的彝族同胞50年代前还处在奴隶社会，没有文字，没有高级宗教，以部落形式分散居住在高山深谷之间，土司都没有管辖权。被外人称为 independent luoluo。直到50年代中央政权才进入该地，社会发展落后周边数千年，类似印度、巴基斯坦的部落地区。所以凉山州的彝族地区长期是全国最贫困的地方之一，几个核心县彝族人口比例97%以上。
凉山彝族长期与世隔绝发展滞后的根本原因是地势过于险要，中间的大凉山山脉海拔4000米以上，四面分别被金沙江、岷江、大渡河、安宁河峡谷包围，谷底海拔多数只有几百米。凉山内部也有许多千米以上深度峡谷，直上直下。悬崖村、天梯村、天梯小学等等都是凉山彝人的常态。现在国家投巨资修建乐西、宜攀两条高速公路，经过凉山彝族聚居的所有县（除去北面三个成昆铁路和成昆复线路过的），总投资达1200多亿，其中宜攀800多亿，乐西马边到昭觉335亿，仁沐新马边支线70亿，平均每公里2亿元，超过高速铁路！这样高的造价，一方面说明地势难于上青天（否则凉山彝族也不会在汉族四面包围的情况下维持了两千多年实质独立和奴隶制度，丝毫不受外界影响，汉代在凉山以西的西昌已经设府，彝区四面被朝廷的州县包围，却维持原有社会两千多年），另一方面当地人口不多，这样高的投资决无收回成本的可能，如果不是为脱贫路上一个民族也不能少，可能一百年也不会修。
乐西高速4车道，但15.3公里的大凉山1号隧道为避免拥堵采用六车道，是世界最长的6车道高速公路隧道之一（另一条是陕西在建的秦岭天台山隧道，也有15公里多）。另有许多隧道和苏坝特大桥、子莫格尼特大桥等高桥。
云南、贵州的彝族比四川更多，那里的彝族聚居区地势不及凉山险恶，最晚清代雍正朝已经改土归流。经过中央政府300年以上治理，云南贵州彝族比凉山彝族发展水平高的多，普遍会国家通用语言文字，社会发展程度也和凉山彝族有极大分别。曾经的“云南王”龙云、卢汉都是云南昭通的彝族。可见彝族同胞能力并不差，交通问题是关键。

Leshan to Xichang expressway including a spectacular extradosed bridge named Mabian bridge, three towers two span, guess about 230-240m high,will become the highest extradosed bridge in the world.Mabian bridge located in Mabian county,Sichuan province,cross Jinjizui gorge(a tributary gorge of Mabian river),it has three nearly 300m towers,looks somewhat like Pingtang bridge in Guizhou.

乐山到西昌高速公路途经沐川、马边、雷波、美姑、昭觉等县，穿越大凉山腹地，这条高速有一座世界最高的矮塔斜拉桥——马边特大桥，三塔两跨，桥面高约230-240米，及其他多座高桥。马边特大桥位于小凉山腹地马边彝族自治县，桥塔高接近300米，建成后外观类似贵州平塘特大桥但更精致。最长隧道为大凉山一号、二号隧道，均有十公里左右，六车道横穿大凉山主脉黄茅埂。建成后数千年与世隔绝，实行奴隶制，没有文字，1950年代才首次由政府管理的大小凉山彝族地区到成都的车程将缩短到四小时：
