【Ecuador】Let's go see the night view in Quito! #82
Hey guys! this is Jun from somewhere East.
日本語版はこちらから:
Meeting new people is one of the best parts of traveling. get to know someone in a hostel, hang out together, cook together, share information together and etc. Even though it's just a few days, some friendships become very strong. As I edited this video, I realized once again that I've been blessed about people around me. Because the day we went to see the night view was 23th of January. After more than 4 months, I'm now writing this in the apartment of my friend, Márcia who is the Brazilian girl in this video.

I've been on budget travel since 06/Jun/17 to see the world, meet people, and eat local food. What's the country is like? Food? Culture? People? What's the life like there? I heard it's dangerous but is it true? I need to go and see rather than just believe everything I hear from TV, people or the Internet.
Subscribe to my channel and follow my journey! I'll show you great cultures and attractions in each place and how awesome traveling is!
I hope you can enjoy my videos and get inspired to go backpacking!!

Ecuador is one of the most diverse countries in the world though it's comparably tiny. Beside the Galapagos Islands (which is the #1 tourist destination in Ecuador) the country has a lot more to offer, therefore I focussed on La Sierra in this video which is a paradise for landscape lovers and outdoor adventurers.
Another reason to visit the Andean region is that you have the chance to dive into the local culture and get a real feeling of Ecuador. The places to see in Ecuador I focussed on in this short video are the result of my own travels along the center from north to south and are easily doable in 2 weeks time.
Things to do in Ecuador covered in this video:
01) 00:36 - Otavalo market in Otavalo
02) 01:00 - Hike the Cuicocha lake
03) 01:25 - Middle of the World, Mitad del Mundo & Quitsato in Cayambe
04) 01:48 - Quito, capital & UNESCO World Heritage
05) 02:08 - Termas de Papallacta (hot springs)
06) 02:24 - Cayambe Coca National Park
07) 02:45 - Quilotoa & Shalala viewpoint
08) 03:13 - Tren Crucero & Nariz del Diablo (Devil's nose)
09) 03:47 - Inka ruins in Ingapirca
10) 04:04 - Cuenca & it's beautiful old town

Ecuador - Quito - typical Ecuadorian food for Bravehearts at Las Tripas
Fog from the grills and the delightful smell of barbecued meat will welcome you while you enter this little village of stands full of bizarre and tasteful treats.
Just take a look at the video: do my fellow Swiss friends enjoy the grilled cow stomach?
At the corner of Lerida and Avenida Ladron de Guevara there is a place for best traditional cuisine called las Comidas or las Tripas and it is a real local spot. Any Taxi driver knows that place.
Some people will only see things like boiled stomach or cow skin or fried blood balls, others will be delighted about the empanadas or the fried fish or the sweet milky corn drink Morocho.
No matter what your preferences are you will find something interesting behind the curtain of nice smelling steam that fills the night sky.
From four pm to late they set up their stands every evening again to showcase what the Ecuadorian cuisine has to offer. From my perspective I loved that place because locals buy and eat here. It is not the Ritz, so only expect a plastic fork, it is the simple life here. It just is what it is: traditional food, a big part of any culture.
You can be almost sure to be the only foreigner and they will thank your visit with big smiles. In case you do not speak Spanish I recommend you to ask an English speaking local to take you there. In any case, do not be scared, nor of the people neither of their food.
A recommendation: ask for Llapingachos (Japingachos) a dish with mashed potato, cheese, meat and sausage and salad and for desert the famous Morocho all for about $3,50.
VLOG: Exploring Quito Ecuador
Our arrival to Quito was mostly smooth, except for when our Airbnb cancelled on us out of nowhere, luckily we could book another Airbnb last minute... One of the cutest houses we've ever stayed in. ????
The next day we explored the Historic Center and even climbed to 'El Panecillo', we didn't expect it to be so steep, the view was worth it though. ????

Total money spent:
1) 2$ - the entrance to Basilica Del Voto Nacional
2) 5$ - empanadas and cappuccino (it can be cheaper...but I prefer to overpay for the beautiful interior of the place:)
So 7$, not too bad :)

3) Plaza De la Indepencia
Hope you will enjoy the video!
If you want me to tell something else about this country, please, let me know and I will probably film ;)

Galapagos to Quito Ecuador - Travel Day + a few stops
So it was time to leave the Galapagos but I felt like the trip started the way it began, with some more exploring of the Santa Cruz island. You may leave the islands of the Galapagos but I don't think that they will ever leave you. Next stop was Quito and we arrived doing a quick city tour which was cut short because of the weather and time.
If you have any questions about my trip please leave them below and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

The Sauce on Every Table in Ecuador | Where to Eat in Quito
Aji sauce is available at almost every restaurant in Ecuador. It's their table sauce of choice, but not every sauce is created equally. From every restaurant to every street food stall, aji sauce is usually house made and it's flavors change based on where in Ecuador you are, what the restaurant specializes in, and more.
Aji is the word used in Ecuador for chili pepper. It's actually a species of pepper - one that's native to South America. The basic aji sauce contains chili peppers, lime, cilantro, and onion. Many cooks will include fruit in their aji sauce. Sometimes bananas, pineapple, mango, etc. In the Sierra regions, around Quito, they often include a fruit that's pretty unique. It's called a tomate de árbol, or tree tomato. It's also referred to sometimes as a tomarillo. It's sort of a sweet tomato. I find the taste difficult to describe, but it adds a nice tanginess to aji sauce. You can expect tree tomatoes to be included in the aji you get with empanadas, hornado, and many other dishes.
If you come to Ecuador and you find the aji sauce to not be to your liking, be sure to keep trying it with every meal. The sauce will sometimes be very spicy, and sometimes not spicy at all.
