Stornoway is a town on the Isle of Lewis, in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. Stornoway is an important port and the major town and administrative centre of the Outer Hebrides. Stornoway is home to Comhairle nan Eilean Siar (the Western Isles Council) and a variety of educational, sporting and media establishments. Observance of the Christian Sabbath (Sunday) has long been an aspect of the island's culture. Recent changes mean that Sunday on Lewis now more closely resembles Sunday on the other Western Isles or the mainland of Scotland.
Stornoway is also the public transport hub of Lewis, and buses run to Point, Ness, Back and Tolsta, Uig, the West Side, Lochs and Tarbert, Harris. These buses are provided by the Comhairle and several private operators as well as some community-run organisations.
Suggestions for the possibility of an undersea tunnel linking Lewis and Harris to the Scottish mainland were raised in early 2007. One of the possible routes, between Stornoway and Ullapool, would be over 40 miles (60 km) long and hence become the longest road tunnel in the world.
Stornoway Airport is located next to the village of Melbost, 2 miles (3 km) away from the town itself. From here services operate to Aberdeen, Benbecula, Edinburgh, Inverness and Glasgow, with flights from Flybe franchisee Loganair & Eastern Airways. The airport is also the base of an HM Coastguard Search & Rescue Sikorsky S-92 helicopter, and was previously home to RAF Stornoway. In 1898, the Hebridean Light Railway Company was proposed, with a terminus at Stornoway, but the line was never constructed.

Apologies for the current lack of videos. We are (finally) in sunny Croatia and do not have the luxury of fibre!
While in Stornoway, at last, we had the opportunity to visit the newly renovated Lews Castle and museum. This is something that I have waited years for and it did not disappoint.
Sadly (although not really) there was a lot of wedding preparation happening so we couldn't film in as many rooms as I would have hoped to.
The museum itself was great, filled with information and some stunning pieces of history, including a Harris Tweed wedding dress and a couple of the infamous Lewis Chessmen!
This is the end of our trip to Stornoway.

Stornoway Castle Grounds, Isle of Lewis (with Gaelic Song)
Lady Lever Park, also known as The Stornoway Woods, Gearraidh Chruaidh in Gaelic or universally to native islanders as The Castle Grounds was planted using native and exotic trees in the 1840s and 1850s by Sir James Matheson around his newly built Lews Castle residence on the Isle-of-Lewis in the Outer Hebrides. It was sold by him to Lord Leverhulme who, in turn, gifted it to the people of the islands in the 1920s under a trust.
The Grounds extend to around 600 acres are a haven for wildlife in general and bird life in particular. They are one of the most important areas of woodland in the North of Britain. For generations of islanders, and tourists visiting the Western Isles, they have also been a place of peace and recreation, within easy walking distance of Stornoway town centre.
The video includes pictures taken in and around the Castle Grounds at different times of the day and in different seasons. The Gaelic Song was inspired by them and is called A' Ghearraidh Chruaidh.
