He is most famous for alerting Colonial militia of approaching British forces before the battles of Lexington and Concord, as dramatized in Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poem, Paul Revere's Ride. Revere was a prosperous and prominent Boston silversmith, who helped organize an intelligence and alarm system to keep watch on the British military. Revere later served as a Massachusetts militia officer, though his service culminated after the Penobscot Expedition, one of the most disastrous campaigns of the American Revolutionary War, for which he was absolved of blame. Following the war, Revere returned to his silversmith trade and used the profits from his expanding business to finance his work in iron casting, bronze bell and cannon casting, and the forging of copper bolts and spikes. Finally in 1800 he became the first American to successfully roll copper into sheets for use as sheathing on naval vessels. Links to the relevant articles are on and

Patriots Day 2016, The Battle at Lexington Green.
Patriots' Day 2016. The 241st Anniversary of the Battles of Lexington and Concord. I am incredibly lucky and privileged to live so close to the where the United States of America had begun. If it had not been for the courageous Sons of Liberty, and men like Paul Revere or George Washington we would all be British citizens today. In this video, you will see a reenactment of the first shots fired that led to our independence. I hope you enjoy this video, Thank You and God bless.

The American Revolution: Accounts of April 19th, 1775.
On the 19th of April, 1775, tensions between the American Colonists and the King's Troops reached a sharp breaking point in the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Awoken by Paul Revere's alarm warning of the imminent arrival of British Regulars on the march from Boston to the nearby town of Concord, Lexington Minutemen assembled on their village green, . The marching Regulars paused, drawing up in formation in front of the Minutemen. An unknown shot rang out and chaos ruled stronger than King George. A long day would follow filled with misunderstandings, conflicts, and attempts for a peace that was not to be found. The American Revolutionary War had officially begun.
This reading presents true accounts of that day as observed by both sides.
1. Sworn account of thirty-four Lexington Minutemen
2. Account of Lieutenant John Barker, British Army Officer
