A new park opened the end of July 2011 that allows anyone with hiking skills to go to the top of Mt Konocti. Anita and I did a 9 mile hike but you could go to the top and back in 6 miles. The views are Awesome! The hike is Uphill!

I had been wanting to capture footage of the large American flag flown by Mendo Mill in Lakeport, California on a nice, windy day. This is one of their smaller flags. Opportunity footage. Winds were just right. The Oak Fire also began just shortly before this flight and is visible in the background with Mount Konocti, but was nicely halted by local firefighters and CAL-FIRE air attack.

Sunrise Paramotor, Droning, and Highest American Flag over Kelseyville Valley yet.
Some aerial videography capturing a friend's paramotor inflight. The American flag made an excellent airborne wind sock and high visibility marker for the paramotor to circle around. This was our first flight testing working together in the air like that. A small drone is very hard to see, so the flag was vital in preventing collision...as was the drone's holding a stationary position with ongoing communications between paramotor pilot and remote pilot.
Was initially tricky to track the paramotor encircling while working controls and shutter settings for the sun. Tried some shutter variations in exploration of nicest settings for this kind of lighting and scenery. I didn't bother to edit that out, since this video is more for future working reference than presentation -- smaller clips can be edited from the total footage. Need work on panning and tilting while tracking such an object in smoother fashion, but went well for a first dry run!

✍ SAN FRANCISCO — The Trump administration declared a major disaster in California as the state fights devastating wildfires that have now claimed at least eight lives. The declaration makes federal funds available to residents of Shasta County, where the Carr Fire outside Redding, California, has wiped out entire neighborhoods and forced thousands of evacuations. The move comes shortly after Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) confirmed one of its employees died in an accident while working to restore services in Shasta County. The company did not identify the employee and said it is working with local law enforcement agencies to investigate. On Saturday, Gov. Jerry Brown called on President Trump to help California fight and recover from what has been another destructive wildfire season. Brown, who inspected neighborhoods wiped out by the fire in Redding, said he was confident the president he has clashed with over immigration and pollution policies would send aid, which Mr. Trump did ...
