Texas: San Elizario Historic Town
Twenty-two miles to the southeast of downtown El Paso sits San Elizario, a small border town with a history spanning more than 400 years. In 1598, Don Juan de Oñate passed through along the El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro (the Royal Road of the Interior), a now historic trail that connected Mexico City with Santa Fe, New Mexico the then northern capital of New Spain. The area became part of the hacienda system established by the Spanish until it was abandoned in 1787. In 1789, Spain built a presidio and mission at San Elizario to protect its land interests from France, and the community was second only to El Paso in size and importance at the time. It remained a part of Mexico until it was ceded to the United States in 1848 as part of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo.
The Historic town of San Elizario's centerpiece includes restaurants, gift shops, 18 Historic sites, including the San Elizario Chapel, The Presidio (fort) and the Old El Paso County jail, where legend Billy the Kid once roamed.
Today, this semi-rural farming community remains an important element in the region's rich heritage. The irrigation canals that feed the surrounding farms in many cases follow the alignments of the original acequias, and Glorieta Road leading out of San Elizario toward El Paso follows the El Camino Real. The town center, a National Register Historic District, is roughly bounded by the original presidio site, and includes the San Elizario Presidio Chapel. It is also the start of El Paso’s Mission Trail. Stop in Los Portales to pick up a walking tour brochure of the historic district. Originally built in the 1850s as a home, it now serves as the town’s museum and information center. In its three-block core you can learn about San Elizario’s deep history and explore buildings constructed as early as 1830, many of them still in use today.
While steeped in history, the community is reinventing itself as a vibrant artist colony, with more than 20 working artist studios, including those of Amado Peña, Bert Saldaña, and Alberto Escamilla. Art as business is a concept not lost in this small community. The Mission Trail Art Market operates the third Sunday of the month May through November, and First Friday Art walks are monthly happenings in San Elizario.

Find a Great Pest Extermination Service Using These Tips
You can't reasonably expect a pest management contractor to just show up when you need them. What's required from your part is some preparatory work so you know what your objectives are. It's vital to have clear parameters in mind if you really want to determine if the contractor has delivered satisfactory results. It's suggested to create a list of desired qualities by checking our general rules.
Clearly indicate your expectations when negotiating with a prospective pest management contractor. Ask the contractor to reiterate your expectations so that there is a clear understanding between the two of you. You need to set a timeline for the project with your pest control service provider so that they won't have many opportunities to slow down and not meet deadlines. When the contractor presents the written contract, he should also provide specific start and end dates, as well as a list of agreed expectations in writing.
It may seem old-school, but you can still find a good amount of great pest management contractors by looking through your local phone book. Make a list of the contractors which you think merit a second look, or an interview. The payment schedule is one of the most significant financial details and ought to be clearly spelled out in the written contract. Insist that contractors be responsible for maintaining a safe and tidy work site.

Avoid voicing complaints to your pest management contractor in front of his crew so that you do not embarrass or upset him. Look for a hidden spot where nobody else could overhear your conversation if you want to effectively solve the problem fast. Following this rule of thumb may cause a delay of a day or two here and there, before you could arrange the right time and place to have a discussion, but it surely shouldn't be an issue as long as the job will still be completed in a timely fashion. Signing a copy of a written contract before the beginning of a job provides protection for both you and the contractor.
Ensure you read all contracts completely before starting a project. Making sure you and your pest management contractor's agreement is outlined explicitly, as it was discussed, will save you a lot of heartache in the long run. Don't sign your contract until you're satisfied with all the points listed, and ask your questions prior to signing, not after. You can also enlist the services of a great attorney if there're any questions you have about your contract.
You shouldn't be surprised by the fact that most pest management contractors are extremely busy in the summer. It means you have to be particularly cautious when you employee a licensed contractor during this time of year. Many contractors will book several jobs at once in the summer and not have enough time to finish each project. Question them about the number of projects they are handling so you can have a good understanding about their level of dedication to your project.

UFO over San Elizario TX???
A ufo spotted in late spring of 2009. It was later to be described as a weather balloon by the newspaper. I'm not sure how weather balloons work but this balloon would stop, hover, and relocate. We chased it for a little while until it was out of sight. An explanation of how these weather balloons function is imperative to believing it really being one.

In the southwest corner of the United States, where New Mexico, Texas, and Mexico converge, lies a region of stark contrasts and rich harmony. Here, the thriving city of El Paso is defined by a uniquely American blend of Mexican, Native American, European and Texan culture. It sits in a vast expanse of desert that gives way both to the towering peaks of Guadalupe Mountains National Park and the subterranean depths of Carlsbad Caverns National Park. In the pilot episode of Trail Mix, we travel to El Paso and explore its neighboring parks, stopping along the way to meet the diverse people who call this region home.
