Mall Carts: An Underground Fraudulent Israeli Industry in the US
Most Israelis are drafted to the IDF when they turn 18. For many of them, the years in the military involve extreme stress, frustration, and sometimes real life danger.
It’s no wonder that the first thing most people do when they finish their service, is to go abroad for a trip that lasts anywhere between 3 to 12 months, minimum.
Alongside that trip, comes a need for money. So, some become waiters, other bartenders. But in Tel Aviv of 2019, it just isn’t enough to make ends meet, surely not for the big trip abroad. The solution? Carts.
If you’re an American and you happened to go into a shopping mall, you might have noticed them. Mall carts manned by well groomed young Israelis selling peculiar products like hair straighteners and remote control helicopters. But the most famous, or infamous, of them all, are the Dead Sea carts.
And what you might at first say is an innocent business, or even praise as an entrepreneurial endeavor, has some rather shady elements to it. And that’s putting it lightly.
Tal Badichi grew up in Israel and moved to America after the army to work in the Dead Sea carts. Like many others, she did pretty well for herself. Now, she’s back in Israel, and she’s written a book revealing all the dirty secrets behind this under-the-radar, millions of dollar industry.
Tal joins us on the podcast today to share all those dirty secrets with us.
Israeli scientist receives Nobel Chemistry Prize
The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for 2011 to
Israeli scientist Daniel Shechtman of the Technion.
Shechtman is the tenth Israeli scientists to win a Nobel Prize and the third to be awarded the
prize for chemistry.
Both Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and President Shimon Peres congratulated
Shechtman on winning the prize.
He was awarded the prize for his discovery of patterns in atoms called quasicrystals, a
chemical structure that researchers previously thought impossible.
His discovery opened the door for experiments in the use of quasicrystals in everything from
diesel engines to frying pans.

Israel Dominating Yet Another Tech Sector, Agriculture, AgTech! #374a
This was truly an epic day and I never thought I would say that about an agriculture event!
Truly an amazing event I was attending as SeeTree.
The interviews were never ending starting with Doron Meller from GrowingIL smart agriculture community, to Saar Safra who makes honey using AI, to Ethy Levy from The Bridge Hub, to Shai Albaranes, and then, the CEO of SeeTree himself, Israel Talpaz who is truly one of the most brilliant CEOs I have ever had the chance to work with (seriously. watch this interview!!), to Amir Mizroch, the one and only who had some seriously insightful thoughts about Israeli tech, and that was literally just the beginning.
This was part one of the day! You want to know just how incredible Israeli tech is? This is the episode to watch!
As always, amazing editing by Joseph Goldsmith!

Israeli Jailed for Hacking Madonna's Computer
A former contestant in Israel's version of American Idol was jailed for 14 months on Thursday for hacking the computers of singers including Madonna, who had complained about unfinished tracks from her latest album being leaked online. Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court said that under a plea bargain, Adi Lederman confessed to computer trespassing and infringement of privacy and property rights, citing Madonna as one of his victims without specifying that he was behind the song leak. Lederman, 39, was arrested in January after an investigation assisted by the FBI. Police said he was suspected of selling songs he had stolen through hacking.

Polish ambassador to Israel assaulted in Tel Aviv amid diplomatic row over Holocaust reparations
Polish ambassador to Israel assaulted in Tel Aviv amid diplomatic row over Holocaust reparations Fox News Flash top headlines for May 15 are here. Check out what's clicking on Foxnews. comA diplomatic standoff between Poland and has escalated after the Polish ambassador to Israel was assaulted and spat on in Tel Aviv on Tuesday. The two countries disagree over how to remember the and whether the Polish government should pay reparations for former Jewish properties that were taken away by Nazi Germany and later nationalized under communism.A 65-year-old Israeli man, Arik Lederman, has been arrested for allegedly targeting Marek Magierowski, the Polish ambassador, outside the embassy, the reported. Magierowski said that he could hear the assailant shouting “Polish, Polish” who then began yelling and spitting on him. Police located the man after the ambassador took the picture of the man and his vehicle. The incident prompted reaction among the highest levels of the Polish government, with Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki condemning the attack as “racist” and “xenophobic. ”“I am very worried to hear of a racist attack on @PLinIsrael ambassador @mmagierowski. Poland strongly condemns this xenophobic act of aggression. Violence against diplomats or any other citizens should never be tolerated,” he tweeted. Poland then summoned Israeli ambassador Anna Azari in the country on Wednesday concerning the attack on Morawiecki. Marek Magierowski said that he could hear the assailant shouting “Polish, Polish” who then began yelling and spitting on him. Police located the man after the ambassador took the picture of the man and his vehicle. br data-cke-eol=1 Getty Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Emmanuel Nahshon also condemned the incident and expressed “fullest sympathy to the ambassador and our shock at the attack. ”He replied to the Polish prime minister’s tweet, saying “Israeli police currently investigating. We will update our Polish friends. This is a top priority to us, as we are fully committed to diplomats safety and security. ”The assailant was released from custody, according to the Times of Israel, on the grounds that the man is unlikely to obstruct the investigation if he’s free. “There is no doubt that an assault and spitting at a diplomatic personage is contemptible, and makes the [assailant] an embarrassment to the rest of Israel’s citizens, Judge Alaa Masarwa’a said. Poland has been criticized by Jewish groups and the Israeli government after passing a controversial law in 2018 that bans blaming the Polish people for the Holocaust. Many experts see the move as a revision of history. Earlier this year, the Polish prime minister also canceled a trip to Israel after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Poland “cooperated with the Nazis. ”The latest dispute, meanwhile, involves the issue of reparations to those whose property was taken away by the Nazi and communist regimes.
