Places to see in ( Koblenz - Germany ) Liebfrauenkirche
The Liebfrauenkirche (Church of Our Lady) was built on the highest point of the city and from the late middle ages to the French Revolution, it was the main parish church in Koblenz. Its origins date back to the 5th century when the Franks established a church in what had been Roman buildings. It was repeatedly rebuilt and expanded using the original foundations.
Built in the 17th century, destroyed in 1944 and reconstructed in 1955, the onion domes characterise the silhouette of the Koblenz old town. The Liebfrauenkirche has a number of significant furnishings from the period between the 15th and 18th centuries.

Places to see in ( Koblenz - Germany ) Jesuitenplatz
The Jesuitenplatz (Jesuit Square) in the heart of the Koblenz old town comes from the religious order of the same name, which operated in the area from 1580 to 1773. They took over from an order of Cistercian nuns founded in the 13th century and used it as a convent school.
The palatial Jesuit school with its towers and magnificent porches on the eastern side of the square was built from 1694 to 1701. It has housed the Koblenz city hall since 1895 (Rathausgebäude I). Until the construction of the large Koblenz city wall in the years 1276-89, the area of Jesuitenplatzes was outside the city. On the east side of the square are the former Jesuit Church of St. John the Baptist, today's City Church and the Jesuit Gymnasium, today's City Hall.
The Jesuit church was built in 1613-17. The young Jesuit order used elements of older architectural styles to inscribe themselves in traditions. Thus, a Gothic rosette window and a Renaissance portal are united here. In the middle of the portal frame is the patron saint of the church, John the Baptist. On his left is Ignatius of Loyola (1491-1556), the founder of the Jesuit order, and on the right is his companion, the apostle of India and Japan, Franz Xaver (1506-52).
The castle-like Jesuit gymnasium with its towers and magnificent portals was built in 1694-1701 according to plans by Johann Christoph Sebastianis, after the French had destroyed the first school building in 1688. Johann Georg Judas created the tower hoods. Since 1895 it is city hall of the city Koblenz.

Places to see in ( Koblenz - Germany ) Basilica of St Castor
The St. Castor Basilica is the oldest surviving church in Koblenz. The monastery church was consecrated in 836 and was the scene of many important historical events. The St. Castor monastery was a meeting and mediation point for emperors and kings, as well as their descendants.
In the Romanesque church in 842, the trial of the sons of Emperor Louis the Pious took place. This led to the division of the Frankish Empire in the Treaty of Verdun the following year. The building as it stands today dates mainly from the middle of the 12th century.
On 30th July 1991, Pope John Paul II elevated the Castor Church to a minor basilica. The St. Castor Basilica, together with the Liebfrauenkirche and St. Florins’ Church characterise the silhouette of the Koblenz old town.
