Trans Canada Trail~Pictou to Wallace
This is a few highlights from my drives from Pictou Nova Scotia to Wallace on the old short line railway. From Pictou to Wallace is about 72 kilometres (45 miles) on the old rail line and is well maintained trail and easy to drive. Along the way we cross a large bridge in River John and another smaller steel bridge as we enter Tatamagouche. In Tatamagouche we pass by the Train Station Inn where you can spend a night in a caboose and eat dinner in a restored dining car. From here we have to drive on the road for a few miles before jumping back on the rail line and continue to Wallace. At Wallace we stopped on the old swing bridge that is a Canada Heritage site. It is 440 feet long and about 65 feet high and is quite a nice place to visit. From here we stopped at the wharf in Wallace before taking the Sunrise Trail highway back into Pictou.

The Town of Pictou-2012-09-03
The Town of Pictou, located on the beautiful Northumberland Shore of Nova Scotia, Canada, is renowned as the Birthplace of New Scotland as it was here that the first wave of Scottish immigrants landed in 1773. Pictou offers diverse amenities, period homes on tree lined streets, and strong entrepreneurial spirit where residents enjoy a stable and prosperous economy. Pictou is the best place to experience old-world charm and culture and present day hospitality.
