Sabine Pass Lighthouse
The Sabine Pass Lighthouse, or Sabine Pass Light as it was referred to by the United States Coast Guard, is a historic lighthouse, as part of a gulf coast light station, on the Louisiana side of the Sabine River, in Cameron Parish, across from the community of Sabine Pass, Texas. It was first lit in 1857 and was deactivated by the Coast Guard in 1952. One of only three built in the United States of similar design, the light was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as Sabine Pass Lighthouse on December 17, 1981. It is now abandoned but has long continued to be the subject of preservation efforts.

AFTER HARVEY; RETURNING HOME; LIGHTHOUSE BEACH BEFORE AND AFTER
AUGUST 2017:
PORT LAVACA; ONE WEEK AFTER HARVEY. In this video you will see photos and clips of the damage that HURRICANE HARVEY inflicted on the popular LIGHT HOUSE BEACH in PORT LAVACA, TEXAS. The BEACH is a MAN-MADE and draws thousands of visitors throughout the summer months with it's warm, shallow waters and BIRD SANCTUARY (also called THE FORMOSA WETLANDS) with a long walk-way around the marsh made of a durable hard plastic that endures the moisture and last far longer than a traditional wooden walk-way. The only thing it cannot endure is the hundred plus miles an hour winds that HURRICANE HARVEY brought along back in August of 2017.
LIGHT HOUSE BEACH also attracts RVers as well. There is also a water playground for the kids and a long pier for fishing; well, there USE TO BE a long pier for fishing. There isn't much left of it now.
Fighting the mosquitos, I took a walk through the area the same day that I returned from my week long stay north of Houston as an evacuee and recorded as much as I could before workers eventually move in and start cleaning it up.
