Sanibel Light House
The Sanibel Island Light or Point Ybel Light[3] was one of the first lighthouses on Florida's Gulf coast north of Key West and the Dry Tortugas. The light,98-foot above sea level, on an iron skeleton tower was first lit on August 20, 1884 and has a central spiral staircase beginning about 10 feet above the ground.[4] It is located on the eastern tip of Sanibel Island, and was built to mark the entrance to San Carlos Bay for ships calling at the port of Punta Rassa, across San Carlos Bay from Sanibel Island. The grounds are open to the public, but the lighthouse itself is not.

Fort Myers, Sanibel & Captiva Beaches | REALTY-V #3
Welcome to Realty-V
I’m Stacey Glenn – your host and Top Producing Real Estate Agent at Royal Shell Real Estate.
So let’s talk beaches. There are so many beaches in Southwest Florida this is going to be a 2-part topic. In this video, I'll cover the beaches of Lee County: Fort Myers Sanibel and Captiva Islands.
The beaches are why I moved here, just like so many other people. Now that I’ve been here for so long I want to share some insider info on this beautiful buying factor.
Let’s start with Sanibel and Captiva Islands. Simply stunning. Fantastic for shelling, some of the best in the world. There’s an iconic lighthouse on the tip of Sanibel and lucky for you there’s the Lighthouse Beach Park where you can enjoy it.
The Causeway Beaches offer great fishing and family picnic locations with clean restrooms and shallow water.
There’s also Bowman’s Beach and Gulfside City Park Beach - both are great for picnics and some quiet relaxation.
Fort Myers has Lovers Key State Park – this picturesque place is host to many family photos and weddings.
There’s Fort Myers Beach - a popular spring break destination. It’s a great mini staycation place for reggae music, beach volleyball and fun people.
Bunche Beach is a hidden beach mostly known to locals and it’s a great place to rent a kayak and explore the mangroves.
That’s it for the first half of my best beaches list. Tune in next week to learn more.
Southwest Florida…
Is where I live and what I love.
See you next week!

Things To Do On Sanibel Island - Lighthouse
Sanibel Island is one of the top fun Florida vacation islands located 45 minutes from Fort Myers.
Anclote Key Lighthouse - Anclote Key Preserve State Park
During the Pre-Columbian period, Anclote Key was home to the Timucua and there are burial mounds and middens scatter among the island. This area first appeared on maps in 1545 during Spanish explorations and was used subsequently as a haven for pirates who preyed upon Spanish shipping. Of course legends of buried treasure nearby abound as both pirates and Spanish are thought to have hidden cache in this area. Later the sponge industry became the primary commercial focus of the Anclote River and was first established on the north bank of the river at Anclote, and later moved across the river in Tarpon Springs and in the 1880's the Anclote Key Lighthouse was constructed.
