Cape Sharp Lighthouse, Nova Scotia
Visit to the Cape Sharp Lighthouse, near Parrsboro, Nova Scotia in July, 2010. This lighthouse is a bit of a hike to get to, and you really need to just know where the trail starts to get there. There are no signs...
St. Paul Island Lighthouse, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia
This small metal lighthouse once stood on St. Paul Island, a remote island located in the Cabot Strait to the north of Cape Breton. The tower replaced and earlier wood frame structure destroyed by fire going into service in 1917 and was in use until 1962 when automated systems made it obsolete. After decommissioning it was dismantled and moved to the Canadian Coast Guard base in Dartmouth. Following a decade long effort the tower was moved back to Cape Breton this time to the community of Dingwall where it now sits beside the St. Paul Island Museum.

Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia - A drive to the Lighthouse
Here's a drive along Peggy's Cove Point Road to the lighthouse.
Sambro Island Lighthouse, Nova Scotia.
A visit to Sambro Island, Nova Scotia.
First outings with my Phantom 4
About -8ºC, flurries, and windy!
From Wikipedia...
The Sambro lighthouse was built during the Seven Years' War by the very first act passed by Nova Scotia's House of Assembly on October 2, 1758 which placed a tax on incoming vessels and alcohol imports to pay for the lighthouse.
The lighthouse is located at the summit of the half kilometre square Sambro Island. It is located on the western approaches to Halifax Harbour, about 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) southeast of Sambro Harbour. It is surrounded by a maze of dangerous shoals. The lighthouse and island are owned and maintained by the Canadian Coast Guard. In addition to the 18th century stone tower, the light station includes the endangered 19th century wooden building known as the Gas House as well as a fog horn shed which is in poor condition. Ruins on the island include the basement of one abandoned keeper's house, the burned out ruins of another and a partially dismantled keeper's dwelling, all from the 1960s. Several cannons used as fog signals can be found near the tower. A narrow sheltered cove runs into the centre of the island. The island is granite, covered by a thin layer of topsoil.
Thanks for watching my Phantom 4 Drone Video to Sambro Island!
Peggys Cove, Nova Scotia
Peggys Cove is 43 kilometers (26 miles) southwest of Halifax and comprises one of the numerous small fishing communities located around the perimeter of the Chebucto Peninsula. The community is named after the cove of the same name, a name also shared with Peggy's Point, immediately to the east of the cove. The village marks the eastern point of the St. Margaret's Bay.
Sculptor and painter William E. deGarthe lived in Peggys Cove. Outside the gallery, in the William E. deGarthe Provincial Park, is a carved granite outcropping. This 30 m (100 ft) sculpture was carved by deGarthe as a lasting monument to Nova Scotian fishermen. It depicts 32 fishermen, their wives, and children enveloped by the wings of St. Elmo, the patron saint of sailors, as well as the legendary Peggy.
