Description
Hiking the Lighthouse Trail in Cow Head, Newfoundland
The Cow Head Lighthouse trail will appeal to a wide range of hikers since it is just 1.5 km long and has many lookouts and a great side trail to the rocky shore line. The 500 meter (1 way) side trail to the tip of the peninsula is also well worth doing since it ends in a broad meadow and an interesting wave washed shoreline. The museum in Cow Head has maps of the trail.

Hiking from Spiller's Cove to Codjacks Cove, Twillingate, NL
Travel writers Keith and Heather Nicol recently hiked some of the superb coastal trails in Twillingate, Newfoundland. The Spiller's Cove to Codjack's Cove trail can be done as an extension of the French Head to Spiller's Cove trail or as a separate loop. From scenic Spiller's Cove the trail passes along a particularly attractive section of coastline composed of small offshore islands and sea stacks. The trail is like a roller coaster with each highpoint presenting the hiker with a new view.Toward the end of the trail there is an osprey nest on an offshore island and we saw the osprey soaring overhead looking for food. This trail just over 7 km long and will likely take 2-3 hours to complete. The trail head is at: 49 39.670 N and 54 43.855 W. For more hiking information check out:
