Lincoln Castle is a major castle constructed in Lincoln, England, during the late 11th century by William the Conqueror on the site of a pre-existing Roman fortress. The Lincoln Castle is unusual in that it has two mottes.
Lincoln Castle is only one of two such castles in the country, the other being at Lewes in Sussex. Lincoln Castle remained in use as a prison and law court into modern times, and Lincoln Castle is one of the better preserved castles in England; the Crown Courts continue to this day.
Lincoln Castle is open to the public as a museum. Lincoln Castle remains one of the most impressive Norman castles in the United Kingdom. Lincoln Castle is still possible to walk around the immense Norman walls which provide a magnificent view of the castle complex, together with panoramic views of the cathedral, the city, and the surrounding countryside.

We take a tour of the historical city of Lincoln in Lincolnshire, UK. The city was first garrisoned in the 1st century AD by the Romans, where it went by the name Lindum Colonia.
There is plenty of history in the architecture of the city - particularly Lincoln Castle and Lincoln Cathedral, both consecrated in the 11th century. Other notable buildings include Jew's House (6:28), built in the 12th Century and one of the oldest town houses still standing in England, and Leigh-Pemberton House (9:43), a genuine timber-framed Tudor house built in 1543.
The walk starts on Waterside South adjacent to the river Witham, and proceeds down Lincoln High Street, leading to the famous aptly named Steep Hill. This in turn takes us to Castle Hill, where we find to the west Lincoln Castle, and to the east Lincoln Cathedral.
TIMESTAMPS:

Inside the Old Victorian Prison of Lincoln Castle, United Kingdom - Touring England
A Victorian Prison inside the confines of Lincoln Castle in the East Midlands of England, United Kingdom.
The modern city of Lincoln originates from the Roman times, and between then and now the history and culture of the city is captivating.
This Victorian Prison inside the castle captures a period of roughly thirst years in the late 1800s where the area's prisoners were held, before a new prison was built on the northern outskirts of the town.
The cells were tight and the structure was built to separate the prisoners from each other - and the prison's chapel is the last in the world left demonstrating that separation.
Some cells are made to replicate what they looked like over a century ago, while others replicate the prison activities and clothes of the time.
On the way to the women's side of the prison, we stop and marvel at the ancient artifacts that have been unearthed from the prison grounds.
Enjoy the history.

P.S LINCOLN CASTLE
Operated on London & North East Railway's Hull-New Holland ferry service on the Humber Estuary in England, commencing on 4th August 1941,one month after a delayed delivery from Scotland
She had originally left the Clyde in October 1940, but rough seas damaged her and she put in at Tobermory, before returning for repair. She then lay at Craigendoran awaiting fine weather
After railway mationalisation in 1948 she was owned by British Transport Commission then British Railways and finaly Sealink
Similar to her quasi-sisters Tattershall and Wingfield Castle except for the boiler being forward (ie the boiler placed ahead of the engines in the hull)
With her funnel forward of the paddle wheels her looks were more conventional than her sisters
Enclosed wheelhouse and radar added in April 1948
Mainmast fitted in April 1954
Retained on the service after the withdrawal of her quasi-sisters, running alongside the paddle car ferry Farringford
Withdrawn in Febraury 1978 with a defective boiler, having remained coal-fired to the end, the last such vessel of her type in the UK
Opened as a pub at Hessle close to the Humber Bridge which had, since 1981, rendered the ferries obsolete
Resold to Colin Johnson in 1986 and moved to Immingham for refurbishment in 1987 and boilers removed
Opened as a bar and restaurant at the Heritage Centre at Alexandra Dock, Grimsby in 1989
Closed to the public since late 2006 for refurbishment,
Due to serious deterioration and holing of some hull plates he was moved along the dock and beached on limestone tipped into the corner of the dock to avoid sinking
Work stalled on cost grounds and Lincoln Castle was offered for sale in 2009
In the absence of private buyers by June 2010 (mostly put off by the high costs of rectifying the hull plus the local council's demand for a GBP 60k bond) the owner decided to scrap the ship
The Lincoln Castle Preservation Society was established at the end of May 2010 to buy the ship for restoration and eventual return to service but failed in their attempt
