Lincoln Park Conservatory, Chicago, Illinois from Travel with Iva Jasperson
Hello everyone...
Positioned near the shore of Lake Michigan, the Lincoln Park Conservatory (1.2 ha / 3 acres) is a conservatory and botanical garden in Lincoln Park in Chicago, Illinois. The conservatory is located at 2391 North Stockton Drive just south of Fullerton Avenue, west of Lake Shore Drive, and part of the Lincoln Park, Chicago community area. The Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool and the North Pond Nature Sanctuary are further to the north along Stockton Drive. Along with the Garfield Park Conservatory on Chicago's west side, the Lincoln Park Conservatory provides significant horticultural collections, educational programs, and community outreach efforts.
Lincoln Park Conservatory is a Victorian Era glass house, built in late nineteenth century. It contains four rooms displaying exotic plants from around the world. Rare orchids, like the Moth orchid, can be found in the Orchid room.
A formal garden is situated in front of the Conservatory; one of the oldest public gardens in Chicago, designed and planted in the late 1870s. Since its foundation, the formal garden has been the home of many sculptors and works of art. The most famous are the Bates fountains, the Schiller monument, and the Shakespeare monument. The formal garden is planted between May and June. Though the peak viewing time is between July and August, the display lasts till mid-October.

Places to see in ( Chicago - USA ) Garfield Park Conservatory
Chicago’s Garfield Park Conservatory is one of the largest and most stunning botanical conservatories in the nation. Often referred to as “landscape art under glass,” the Conservatory showcases thousands of plant species from around the world throughout eight indoor display gardens. Year-round, visitors can enjoy the lush flora and tropical temperatures indoors, or more than 10 acres of outdoor gardens, nature play spaces for children, water lily pond, and much more.
Garfield Park Conservatory, located in Garfield Park in Chicago is one of the largest greenhouse conservatories in the United States. Often referred to as landscape art under glass, the Garfield Park Conservatory occupies approximately 4.5 acres (18,000 m2) inside and out and contains a number of permanent plant exhibits incorporating specimens from around the world (including some cycads that are over 200 years old)
Along with the Lincoln Park Conservatory on Chicago's north side, the Garfield Park Conservatory provides significant horticultural collections, educational programs and community outreach efforts. In the late 19th century, each of the three large West Side parks had its own small conservatory and propagation greenhouses. After 20 years of use, these conservatories had fallen into a state of disrepair and had become obsolete.

CHICAGO'S BOTANICAL PARADISE - Garfield Park Conservatory | Things to Do in Chicago
In this video we visit Garfield Park Conservatory in Chicago, one of the largest greenhouse conservatories in the United States & a botanical paradise in Chicago. It is located in the Garfield Park neighborhood, on the West Side of Chicago.
Together we'll see the palm house, fern room, desert house, and much more! The Garfield Park Conservatory has so many plants on display, from 300 year old ferns to succulents to flowers.
Garfield Park Conservatory's address is 300 N Central Park Avenue
Can you answer the trivia question? How did Central Park Avenue get its name?
In the late 19th century, Chicago's three West Side parks each had a conservatory of their own (Garfield Park, Humboldt Park, & Douglas Park). After 20 years of neglect, they were neglected and the decision was made to build the world's largest greenhouse conservatory in Garfield Park Chicago.
The Garfield Park Conservatory was designed by Jens Jensen and was completed around 1908.
Visiting the Garfield Park Conservatory is one of the best things to do in Chicago during the winter, since it's always warm and humid under the glass of the greenhouse.
This is one of Chicago's hidden gems! Where else can you see palm trees, ferns, cacti, and many other tropical plants in the middle of a world class city?
My favorite way to get to the Garfield Park Conservatory is taking the CTA Green Line to the Conservatory / Central Park Dr stop.
The Garfield Park Conservatory is one of Chicago's horticultural gems, similar to the Chicago Botanic Garden & Lincoln Park Conservatory.
