PA Fish & Boat - Linesville Fish Hatchery Visit - Musky Spawning with Jared Sayers
I have been waiting for the opportunity to visit the Linesville hatchery and work with Jared Sayers. This episode is the full visit that we had this past Friday, and what a visit it was!!! We work with Jared and get a private tour, see the grounds including Brown Trout, Walleye Frye and the epic Musky Spawning Process. This episode is long, but in my opinion it changed the way i think about PA lakes and also the stocking effort, such an epic opportunity to learn! Jared and his team are special people doing really special things at the facility. People like Jared and his staff do big things in life and they will continue to impact PA and the fishery positively! Awesome experience that changed my life as a fisherman!
I really wanted to make sure that everyone understands the importance of what Fish and Boat is doing with the stocking programs. PA's lakes are too fertile for natural reproduction, so the future of our fishery in PA depends on people like Jared and his team of professionals who spawn, raise, feed, care for and stock these fish in our waters. Without these programs, we would not have any sort of sustaining fishery especially in the inland lakes. Please support PA Boat and Fish in every aspect of the stocking effort!
If you are a Musky fisherman, please, please please, look at the voluntary Musky permit. Its important for the future of PA's Musky population! Without funding and our support, Jared and his team cannot expand and continue to make our Musky population strong. The Musky stocking program is run completely out of Linesville and without our support every year, none of these programs would be as strong as they are today. I love Musky and i believe in the future of these fish and if you feel the same, do your part and contribute towards the program with the permit and in any other capacity that you can!
Please take the time to support PA Fish and Boat, they stock lakes in PA that cannot produce naturally. Without our funds and support, we would not have a fishery that could sustain a healthy population of fish. The only way to do that is thru stocking our fertile lakes!
Please support Jared and all of these special people involved in the programs, they contribute to making the fishery what it is today! Without them, we would not have the resource that we have today in the great state of PA!
If you would like to donate to a specific species of fish and the stocking effort, purchase the species specific voluntary permit!
Linesville Hatchery Musky Stocking 2019 Conneaut lake - PA Fish and Boat
I had the absolute pleasure of working with Jared Sayers and assisting with the Musky Stocking of Conneaut lake. I wanted to highlight the program and also make sure that people know how hard Jared and his team work to manage our fisheries. This video shows the process of stocking muskies at Conneaut lake.
Hats off to Jared and his team, a great group of people who work extremely hard to manage our fisheries here in PA. I just want to congratulate them on stocking fish that are averaging 13.5 inches or bigger. They are giving our fish the best possible chance of survival and we as PA Musky anglers should be proud of them! I caught a glimpse of the future today, and it was very bright!
THAT'S A LOT - PYMATUNING SPILLWAY
One of the best known locations in Pymatuning is the spillway, an area where the fish are so plentiful that the ducks walk on the fishes' backs to compete for the food fed by the visitors. A fish feeding station is available for people with disabilities. From Fries Road to Linesville Road, this two-mile trail has parking and access at either end. This gravel trail on an abandoned railway is ideal for hiking and mountain biking. View Pymatuning Reservoir and visit nearby Linesville fish hatchery. Collecting Walleye for Spawning- Linesville SFH- 04.06.18
On Friday, April 6, 2018, the PFBC's Central Regional Outreach and Education Coordinator, Dee Fisher, spent the morning with the Linesville State Fish Hatchery staff to see first-hand how Walleye are collected for spawning. On this day, Linesville staff were also joined by staff from the Fairview State Fish Hatchery, so that two boats could go out and collect Walleye. Once the trapnets were emptied, the Walleye were returned to the hatchery for sorting (male and female) and then spawning.

Trip to the fish hatchery
OK, turns out it wasn't as long of a video as I thought it was going to be. It was a cool place and I'm glad I went. I made 2 good contacts. This place can't sell me fish but they hooked me up with a place that does and as luck would have it, they are a lot closer. I also made a contact of a professor at Allegheny College that has an aquaponics system so I'm hoping to go and check it out.
Here is a link to the place we were at.
I would encourage everybody to find one near you and go check it out. Very interesting. Great place to take the kids and seeing how I'm just a big kid at heart, I really enjoyed it. I passed on the free crayons and coloring book though.
They were spraying heavy all day, calling for rain tomorrow.
Thanks for coming along everybody
Stay sharp.

Linesville State Fish Hatchery: PFBC Lake Erie Brown Trout Program (2020)
Fish Hatchery Renoldsville, Pennsylvania
The Renoldsville Fish Hatchery was built 1928 using earthen ponds and concrete raceways. In 2016, the complex was basically torn apart and rebuilt. The renovation included state of the art filtration systems, a new huge circular aquarium to view different trout related fish, and a new building. The site makes a very interesting experience. Staff is on hand to answer your questions.

Consolidated Musky Spawning Footage - Linesville Hatchery with Jared Sayers (PA Fish and Boat)
I had a few clips that i had missed in the first showing of the Linesville Hatchery Musky Spawning video. I actually went ahead and re-captured our visit to the Linesville Hatchery and cut this down to strictly the Musky content. Hopefully this will save some of you a few minutes as well as allow you to see and hear all of the main points that Jared talked about! Again, just such an informative visit and one that i will be thinking about for a while as a reflect on PA and everything that PA Fish and Boat does for the fishery!
My goal with this video is to help you all find and catch more fish on Pymatuning Reservoir. I provide basic information about the lake such as size, water depth, forage, structure and fish species. We also get into an in-depth conversation about several hot spots from the north end to the south end of the lake. I talk about the species in these locations and provide tips on how you can catch them. This is a true lake breakdown that will hopefully help you guys catch more fish.
