Day Trip To Linlithgow Palace
We had a day trip to Linlithgow Palace, the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots.
The magnificent ruin of a great Royal Palace set in its own park and beside Linlithgow Loch. A favoured residence of the Stewart kings and queens from James I (1406-37) onward.
Wikipedia The palace was one of the principal residences of the monarchs of Scotland in the 15th and 16th centuries. Although maintained after Scotland's monarchs left for England in 1603, the palace was little used, and was burned out in 1746. It is now a visitor attraction in the care of Historic Environment Scotland.
Bonnie Prince Charles visited in 1745, and it is said the fountain was made to flow with wine!
The site is open to visitors all year round, usually subject to an entrance fee for non-members, but on occasion the entry fee is waived during the organisation's Doors open days.

A Day In My Life : Visiting Linlithgow, Scotland
Hey there ! Welcome to my YouTube channel.
My name is Charlyne, I am a French 19 year-old and I love to travel the world and make short videos about my adventures. I also love makeup so I might post beauty related videos when I'm not travelling !
For my very first video I wanted to share my trip to Linlithgow, a town about 20 minutes by train from Edinburgh. This village is very pretty and the Palace is a very interesting place to visit, it was the palace where Mary, Queen of Scotts was born. To visit the palace, it costs £6, pretty inexpensive and worth the travel !
I hope you enjoy !

There a lot to love about the popular TV series Outlander. For many its the intense love story between the time travelling medic Clair Randall and the feisty scottish highlander Jamie Frazer. Others may be drawn by the romance associated with 18th Highlander life. Whatever floats your boat, theres one thing for sure - The show is filmed in some pretty stunning locations around Scotland. From imposing stately homes to picturesque Scottish towns, were taking a look at some of the most amazing real life locations from Outlander.

Historic Scotland: Linlithgow Palace Event | Jousting
Today my sister and I take wee Coban out to a Historic Scotland event at Linlithgow Palace.
There is medieval knights, a medieval village to explore, kids games, falconry, jesters archery and spectacular jousting with knights fighting. It's actually a really good day out: a good laugh and kids love it. They can talk with people in the medieval village, interact in the games and take part in things put on for them around the site. There are a plenty of burger, ice cream and coffee vans, ice cream vans.
It's about £15 to get in but free if you are a member of Historic Scotland, which I am. A membership is only 4 pound odds per month and pays for itself over the course of the year. Plus it's a good thing to keep our Historic Places maintained. What is particularly cool is Historic Scotland Members get free entry to English Heritage sites in your second year onwards of your membership.
'Free entry to attractions on the Isle of Man. Half price entry to over 500 heritage attractions in England and Wales in your first year. Free entry for all renewal and life members.'
After we have left the event and checked out inside Linlithgow Palace we head back to the park and have a picknic while discussing random things like dealing with ticks and midges etc before getting belted in a downpour.
Lassie that is on to something link mentioned:
Historic Scotland Events:
Historic Scotland Membership:
'Hear the thunder of hooves and the clashing of lances as Linlithgow Palace hosts at the annual jousting tournament. Watch as noble knights battle it out to be crowned champion.'
'Each year, Historic Scotland stages more than 400 legendary events and days out that bring Scotland's history to life. See knights jousting, hear the crack of muskets and discover how people lived in the past.'
