Linnanmaki - The Amusement Park in Helsinki (Finland)
This video is about Linnamaki Amusement Park located at Pasila in the Helsinki City of Finland.
Linnanmäki is an amusement park in Helsinki, Finland. It was opened on May 27, 1950, and is owned by non-profit Lasten Päivän Säätiö (Children's Day Foundation), which operates the park in order to raise funds to Finnish child welfare work. In 2016, the foundation donated a total of 4.3 million euros.
Linnanmäki is the most popular amusement park in Finland. It has more than 40 different rides of different sizes. It also has other attractions, such as arcades, games, kiosks, restaurants and an outdoor stage on which different performers appear in the summer. Annually the park is visited by over 1 million guests.
This city park is located just north of the city center of Helsinki. The park is located on a hill with nice views of the city. The park feels rather compact and has no discernible theming; the rides and attraction are in close proximity. In addition to the amusement rides the park also contains the Peacock-teatteri, a historical theatre built in 1957 and known for its musical productions. In addition to the park itself, guests can also visit a Sea Life Centre, which opened in 2002. The park also featured Linnanmäen museo from 1996 to 2005, a museum facility which located next to the park's main entrance and housed several exhibitions every year.
The park is easily reached from the city by tram nr 3, 8, 9 and bus nr 23.
Linnanmäki currently has 43 rides, along with many other non-ride based attractions. Probably the most notable ride in the park is the wooden roller coaster Vuoristorata. It is the most recognisable symbol of the park, and was one of the first permanent rides to be built at the park. The oldest ride in Linnanmäki is Karuselli (a carousel), built in 1896.
Linnanmäki has eight roller coasters. Major rides include three tower rides, a ferris wheel, a river rapids ride and spinning rides. The park also has a selection of family and kiddie rides.
Admission to the park is free, and most of the rides can only be ridden with the possession of a ride ticket, or the more popular wristband, which allows the wearer access to all of the park's rides for the entire day. As of 2013, the wristband costs the same for each customer, regardless of height.

Ukko (Including POV) - Linnanmäki Amusement Park Finland
Ukko is a Maurer Skyloop roller coaster that has operated at Linnanmäki Amusement Park in Helsinki Finland since 2011. Amazingly this is the fifth Skyloop coaster I have seen on my travels and the first one to actually be operating! Video includes off-ride footage and a front seat POV filmed with Pivothead sunglasses in August 2019 (cameras are not permitted on the ride). Enjoy the twisted and hanging view from Ukko!

If you are wondering about the name of this Maurer Söhne SkyLoop coaster - Ukko is the god of thunder in Finnish mythology, who possessed a weapon (usually a hammer, but sometimes an axe or a sword) with which he struck thunderbolts. Like the other eight SkyLoop XT150 models currently in operation, this one stands just over 151 feet tall with a top speed of 65 mph.
Linnanmäki is located in Helsinki, Finland.

Linnanmäki Vlog September 2019
Join me as I spend the day at Linnanmäki in Helsinki, Finland! This awesome amusement park opened back in 1950 and was set up to raise funds for Finnish child welfare work. This fantastic cause is still the main focus of the park to this day!
This vlog is packed with on ride POV's from all of the major rides at the park including the 8 different roller coasters on offer. New for 2019 is Taiga, a spectacular Intamin Blitz Coaster that features two launches, 4 inversions and some very unique elements. In this vlog I share my full review from this very impressive ride. I also ride a classic scenic railway that dates back to 1951 and one of the creepiest dark rides I've ever experienced!
This was also the first day of the parks horror event and in this vlog I share POV's from all 3 of the different scare attractions on offer along with a look at the street theatre and theming around the park.

Taiga (Pivothead HD POV) - Linnanmäki Amusement Park Finland
Taiga is a custom layout Blitz coaster from Intamin that opened in June 2019 at the Linnanmäki Amusement Park in Helsinki Finland. It's an incredible ride, and much longer than I had expected it to be. GoPro cameras are not permitted on the ride so the POV was filmed with secured Pivothead sunglasses...the twisted layout did make the auto focus a little challenging but I think it came out ok. It's arguably one of the best new coasters for 2019, and it was well worth paying the park a visit to ride it on a cruise holiday to the Baltic in August 2019.

Vuoristorata front seat on-ride HD POV Linnanmäki
Did you know that this side-friction wooden coaster is a copy of Rutschebanen that opened in 1932 at Bakken in Denmark? Vuoristorata is Finnish for roller coaster and it was built as a temporary attraction to help lure tourists of the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki to Linnanmäki amusement park. The ride has been carefully maintained throughout the years and apart from the cars, nothing remains of the original structure as all the wooden parts have been replaced at least five times.
Linnanmäki is located in Helsinki, Finland.

Kirnu front seat on-ride HD POV Linnanmäki
This was the first of the four Intamin ZacSpin coasters currently in operation when it opened in April, 2007. An identical model called Inferno opened three months later at Terra Mítica in Spain. Gröna Lund in Sweden built a much larger version called Insane in 2009 and Six Flags Magic Mountain in Southern California built a replica of it called Green Lantern: First Flight in 2011. We've ridden the other three as well and posted on-ride POV and off-ride videos of each of them on this channel.

Linnanmäki Amusement Park 2018 - Helsinki Finland
Welcome to the merriest part of Helsinki!
Linnanmäki is Finland’s oldest and most popular amusement park, located in the Alppila quarter of Helsinki. The amusement park, which is owned by the Children’s Day Foundation, was opened for the public in 1950. Linnanmäki has over 40 rides, many different games, as well as restaurants and cafés. The most popular ride in the amusement park is the wooden rollercoaster, which has been delighting visitors since 1951.
The Children’s Day Foundation maintains and develops Linnanmäki amusement park in order to raise funds for Finnish child welfare work. The donation goal for 2018 is to reach 4.5 million euros. While our visitors are having fun at Linnanmäki amusement park they are also supporting Finnish child welfare work.
The Children’s Day Foundation was founded by six child welfare organisations: the Central Union for Child Welfare, the Mannerheim League for Child Welfare, Barnavårdsföreningen i Finland, the Federation of Mother and Child Homes and Shelters, Parasta Lapsille and Save the Children.
Linnanmäen Vuoristorata – The Roller Coaster at Linnanmäki
Linnanmäen Vuoristoradan kierros (The Roller Coaster at Linnanmäki Amusement Park, Helsinki, Finland).
Scroll down for English translation.
Video on kuvattu teräväpiirtotarkkuudella (Full HD), vakautettuna ja se seuraa ensimmäisessä vaunussa istuvan matkustajan katseen suuntaa. Äänen laatuun on kiinnitetty erityistä huomiota, tallennus on tehty huippuluokan äänityskalustolla.
Linnanmäen Vuoristorata on harvinaisuus, sillä vastaavalla perinteisellä tavalla toimivia, radan sisälaidoista jarruttavia vuoristoratoja on maailmassa alle kymmenen. Tarkkaa lukua ei ole, mutta vähän ratoja joka tapauksessa on. Linnanmäen Vuoristorata on valmistunut vuonna 1951 ja se on viimeinen rakennettu tämän tyyppinen rata maailmassa. Radan on suunnitellut tanskalainen Valdemar Lebech. Esikuva on Tanskan Dyrehavsbakkenin huvipuiston vuoristorata (1932), joka on tehty samoilla piirrustuksilla.
Juna vedetään vaijerilla ylös ja painovoima tuo sen alas. Vaunut kulkevat vapaasti kiskoilla. Kierroksessa on siten mukana annos käsityötä.
Tämän kierroksen jarrumies on Gert Vimpari. Kiitos Gert sekä Linnanmäki! Ääni ja kuva Mika Koivusalo.

Roller Coaster at Linnanmäki Amusement Park, Helsinki, Finland.
The video was shot in Full HD and stabilised. It follows the sight line of a passenger in the first car. Sound quality was a prime consideration, and the soundtrack was recorded using state-of-the-art equipment. This makes the video a unique virtual roller-coaster experience, a combination of video and audio quality not found anywhere else. The better the audio system used for playback, the more authentic the experience and the more convincing the detail. Even the lowest rumbles are audible. This is for your enjoyment and excitement only: feel free to scream if you like, there are no pre-recorded passenger screams.
The Linnanmäki Roller Coaster is a rarity. Built in wood to a traditional design, it is one of only a dozen or so side friction roller coasters left in the world. It was completed in 1951, the last ride of this type ever built. The ride was designed by Valdemar Lebech from Denmark, based on the design of the roller coaster at Dyrehavsbakken Amusement Park in Denmark (1932).
The roller coaster is gravity-powered, the trains being hauled up the first hill by cable. The track length is 960 metres, one circuit lasts just over 2 minutes, and the top speed on the first downhill run is about 60 km/h. The Linnanmäki Roller Coaster is also special in that its speed is regulated by a brakeman standing in the last car and not by an automatic speed control system. Each run thus has an element of craftsmanship in it.
The brakeman for this run was Gert Vimpari. Thanks to Gert and to Linnanmäki for their cooperation! Audio and video by Mika Koivusalo.
