Such a fun way to see Berlin: being driven around in an APE Calessino with two beautiful expats. A wonderful flashback to riding in a tuk tuk through Bangkok.
Last week expat travel blogger Cheryl Howard (@cherrysberries) invited me and expat twitter queen and Berlin blogger Sandy Hathaway (@SandyInBerlin) to go on a tour with Lino City Tours through Berlin.
We went through Mitte, Kreuzberg and Neukoelln. Seeing all kinds of traditional sights: e.g., Reichstag, Brandenburg Gate, TV Tower, Potsdamer Platz, Oranienstrasse, etc.) - and witness lots of Berlin characters: boom box music video shoot chick, window washer, juggler... and our expat friend and 6Wunderkinder wizard Mark Bate (@markbate).

Während der Herbst anfängt Bäume von ihrem Laubwerk zu befreien und kühle Winde durch die in Dunkelheit getauchten Straßen zu schicken, war eine der aufregendsten Gemeinschaftsprojekte des Rock-Business in der reichlich aufgeheizten Live Music Hall in Köln: The Revival Tour.
Folk und Punkrock schienen lange unvereinbar, doch spätestens seit Bad Religion-Sänger Greg Graffin 2006 mit „Cold As The Clay“ ein ernstzunehmendes Akustik-Album ablieferte, hatte sich das Blatt gewendet. Die Punkrock-Helden und Folk-Fans Brian Fallon (The Gaslight Anthem), Chuck Ragan (Hot Water Music), Dan Andriano (Alkaline Trio) und Dave Hause (The Loved Ones) kamen 2011 mit Jon Gaunt (Geige) und Joe Ginsberg (Kontrabass) unter dem Namen The Revival Tour erstmals nach Europa.
Ragan dazu „Der wichtigste Teil der Tour ist die Kameradschaft und die Art, wie sich Menschen miteinander verbinden. Egal, ob man eine Mandoline spielt, singt oder die Geige zupft, oder sich einfach nur die Show anguckt. Wir alle leben und atmen diese Art von Musik, und wir wollen das mit den Leuten teilen, die genauso ticken wie wir.“

Il documentario nasce attraverso un processo partecipato iniziato nel 2008 e promosso da artisti keniani e artisti non africani che vivono in Kenya. Nel 2009 viene lanciato il progetto Urban Mirror, che coniuga arte e spazi pubblici: da qui nasce la figura di Upendo Hero, il supereroe dell'amore (dal volto inequivocabile) e dello spazio pubblico che in questo documentario accompagna i musicisti keniani Ukooflani nel loro viaggio in Europa. L'idea di uno scambio culturale con artisti berlinesi prende ben presto forma in una vera e propria battaglia per la libera espressione artistica negli spazi pubblici, contro la diffusa gentrification delle città europee.

Capitale de l'Allemagne, Berlin reste une métropole émergente à l'échelle des métropoles européennes. Sa superficie de 890 km², plus grande que celle du Grand Paris, accueille une population en perpétuelle croissance (3,4 millions d'habitants en 2014).
Les enjeux urbains liés à la problématique du changement climatique ont amené les pouvoirs locaux à favoriser le développement d'une ville compacte.
Des projets comme Europacity visent à revitaliser le cœur de la métropole dont les cicatrices laissées par le mur peinent à s'effacer. Pour en parler, j'ai rencontré M. Manfred Kuehne, Directeur du département développement et projets urbains de la métropole berlinoise.

Capital city of Germany, Berlin remains an emerging metropolis compare to european metropolis. Its area of 890 km², larger than the Greater Paris' area, hosts a growing population (3,4 million inhabitants in 2014).
Urban challenges resulting from the climate change issue led Berlin's local authorities to encourage the development of a compact city.
Projects as Europacity aim at revitalizing the inner city, still marked by former spaces of the wall. To know more about it, I met Manfred Kuehne, Director of the development and urban planning department of the Senate of Berlin.
