Our third day in Taiwan was an adventurous one. Travelling from Taipei Main Station, all the way to the sacred Buddhist site of Lion's Head Mountain in Miaoli. The dreamy ambiance, paired with the breathtaking views, momentarily made me contemplate becoming a monk. This was an unforgettable experience!

How to get to Lion's Head Mountain and some beautiful temples, apologies for the last few minutes, it is a little blurry, I didn't notice condensation on my lens. It is pretty humid here.

Taiwan - Shrimping, Lion's Head Mountain
Hey guys,
First in this video we go shrimping! A very Taiwanese thing to do. You go to these little warehouses, rent a shrimping rod and bait, and fish in the small pools for shrimp. Once you catch the shrimp you can skewer them, roll them in salt and grill them up yourselves to eat! It makes for a great night!
In the second part we go to Lion's Head Mountain (Shih-tou Shan) located on the border of Hsinchu County and Miaoli county. It is a mountainous region with many temples, rivers and hiking trails! Enjoy!

Ever since the late Ching Dynasty, the temples and caves of Lion's Head Mountain and Mt. Wuzhi have been so famous that they were listed among the 12 most enchanting scenes in Taiwan. This scenic area encompasses the townships of Beipu, Emei, and Zhudong in Hsinchu County and the townships of Sanwan and Nanzhuang in Miaoli County. Located between the Provincial Highway No. 3 road system and the Xueba National Park system, this region covers an area of 24,221 hectares and is rich in natural (cold springs, forest and lakes) and ecological resources as well as notable cultural attractions, including temples and historical artifacts of the Hakka people and the aboriginals (the Atayal and Saisiat tribes). Since its establishment in 2001, the Tri-Mountain National Scenic Area Administration has worked to develop a high-quality tourist region focusing on naturism, education, ecology, and sustainability. Some of the promotional events for tourism development to date include lifestyle and historical tours; exploration of the traditional culture of the Hakka people; discovery of the mysteries of the Saisiat Tribe's Sacrifice to the Short Spirits; a river ecology tour; a tour of the natural habitats of insects; and a tour of mining and unique industries.
Lion' s Head Mountain Visitor Center
The Lion's Head Mountain Visitor Center was opened in 2001. It was built over the former Shishan Elementary School and designed to retain the Hakka style. In addition to the facilities, the restaurant, Xixin Tea House is appended to the Visitor Center, offering dining and refreshment services to the public.

Taiwan Day 763: Lion's Head Mountain (獅頭山) hiking [Shulian Cave Temple]
Taiwan's 100 Best Mountains
In Taiwan, a list of 100 mountains has become something of a Bible for avid hikers.
The island is a hiking paradise. Nearly 60% of Taiwan is covered by forest, and there are over 250 mountains that tower above 9,800 feet.
We went on a hike with an outdoor enthusiast who has climbed 92 of the 100 mountains on the list.
