Carcavelos beach on steroids - Discover where to surf and skate from Portugal to Morocco.

Carcavelos beach is one of the finest beaches of the Lisbon coastline, and due to the public transport, is by far the most popular and has many restaurants and bars.

Basically it's always pretty crowded except on bigger winter days (just like yesterday October 15 2018). Carcavelos is the first wide, sandy beach on the Lisbon - Cascais coast. From Lisbon you just take the Marginal to cascais, this is a freeway along the coast, you keep to this road for 15-20 minutes and after passing the NATO base and the fort you should see Carcavelos beach comming up on your left.

Carcavelos was, until 2013, a civil parish in the Portuguese municipality of Cascais, about 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) west of Lisbon. In 2013, the parish merged into the new parish Carcavelos e Parede. The parish was known for the Carcavelos wine. With the decline of the wine-making industry in the region, the attractiveness of its beaches have made the parish a destination for surfing, owing to ocean conditions.

At the mouth of the Tagus River and east of the main beach is the fortification of Fort of São Julião da Barra. It was used to protect the Tagus from enemy ships, but in the 20th-century it became the official summer residence of the Minister of Defense.

Carcavelos é uma praia da linha de Cascais no distrito de Lisboa. Esse pico é referencia para a historia do surf e bodyboard português revelando muitos talentos para o mundo. Não é a toa pois fica perto do centro de Lisboa e é muito constante no inverno.

Se você está passando algumas horas no aeroporto de Lisboa e quer fazer um surf é só pegar um comboio... dá tempo! hehehe...Tanto grande como pequena a onda de Carcavelos é uma boa opção para surfar nas redondezas de Lisboa.

Our Wonderful Trip to Portugal 2014

Portugal is a beautiful diverse country, friendly people, 300 walled cities, interesting history including that of the sea explorers, great wines, foods and vineyards, excellent highway system and more. We took a 12 day escorted tour and then stayed at a time-share resort on the Coast north of Lisbon where we further explored the countryside, small towns and played some golf. Portugal is on the Euro and we found less expensive than other European Countries and just as or more interesting. We highly recommend a trip to Portugal!
