Visiting the Lithgow Small Arms Factory Museum
SSAA TV visits the Lithgow Small Arms Factory Museum - an outing which will appeal to anyone with an interest in firearms or Australian military history. The factory itself was established in Lithgow, New South Wales, in 1912 to supply Lee-Enfield .303 rifles, Vickers and Bren machine-guns, L1A1 SLR rifles and other small arms to Australia’s defence forces. The factory’s administration block built in 1962 still remains and is now home to the Lithgow Small Arms Factory Museum, showcasing the technological and innovative side of Australian firearms manufacturing.
Lithgow Small Arms Factory Documentary
Not only is the Lithgow Small Arms Factory an amazing piece of history itself, but its influence on the town of Lithgow is fascinating. Multiple streets around the factory were named after weapons, and there were heavy anti-aircraft guns placed around Lithgow during WWII to protect the factory.
This film has been played frequently on Television Sydney.
The museum's website:
I was a bit worried during the making of the film as to what people would think about a film centred in some ways around weaponry. I decided to make the film as neutral as I could, simply to present the facts as they stood and let people bring their own feelings to the film. Therefore, the film can be viewed completely differently depending on what a person's feelings on the subject are. Whatever your feelings though, I hope you find the film interesting.

what a dangerous gun, was out shooting with a few people around when i found out it could fire just by loading sometimes and then firing everytime the safety was switched on.
Lithgow Anti Aircraft Site
Located just outside of Lithgow up on Bells Line of road this location was where anti aircraft guns were manned during WWII to defend the small arms factory, although the guns are now gone (they are still at a different site in Lithgow) you can see where they used to be mounted (though maybe not in the video).
