Day Hike #50:Early season Bow Valley Provincial Park North
Early season Bow Valley Provincial Park North Timestamps:
04:26 Flowing Water trailhead
09:38 Montane Loop trailhead
12:01 190 year old tree stump
15:08 Middle Lake Parking lot. Start of Elk Flats/Moraine Loop
19:59 Many Springs trailhead
23:28 Back onto the Elk Flats/Moraine Loop
27:30 Middle Lake trailhead
Decided to go to the campgrounds between the highways and start banging off trails. I ended up getting them all!
Started off with Flowing Water loop. Moved across the road to the Montane Loop. Then farther into the campground to piece together Moraine/Elk Flats loop, Many Springs loop, and the middle lake loop into one hike. Excellent and easy early season hiking and great for sore legs.
I think my favourite of the 5 trails was likely Many Springs loop. I liked the beaver dams and springs coming up through the water. Montane loop was just a walk through the forest but yielded the most interesting moment of the day with the tree that was 190 years old with the rings all counted for me. Very cool.
These trails are described in the Kananaskis trail guide Volume 3. Starting page 104, trails 23 A,B,C,D, and E.

Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park Winter | Journey Alberta
I explore Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park in the winter! My goal for the day is to see the sunset from the viewpoint near the parking lot, but before the sunset I do the short hike along the Tiger Lily Loop. One of my favourite things about this park is that both times I've been here I've basically had the whole park to myself. It's the perfect little escape seeing as it's in between Calgary and Cochrane!
