Chain Lakes Alberta Camping Trip
This is the campsite (#C100) at Chain Lakes Campground, Alberta, Canada. Great Camp Ground, Great Sites, Nice Lake (it's actually a resovoir). Just to show you peeps around a bit! There my Hennessey Hammock Tent (ASym Expedition Zip), and Wes's Coleman Cimmaron Tent. Had my Hennessey setup under a tarp, and used a tarp groundsheet - not real reason why I did this other than a little additional protection from teh elements (good thing too as it rained pretty hard on Thursday Night!)... all in all awesome campground - great trip - highly recommend you go visit! (Chain Lakes Campground is about 40-50 KM West of Nanton on Highway 533, in Alberta, Canada) - ENJOY FOLKS!

outh Saskatchewan River Camping and Canoe Trip. Alberta, Canada July 2011 - 2
outh Saskatchewan River Camping and Canoe Trip, Alberta, Canada 2011
A nice short trip of about 12 hours of easy paddling in the first week of July while the water levels are still relatively high. (Peak levels occur approximately 2 weeks prior).
100 kms paddling from the beginning of the South Saskatchewan River to Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada. Average speed is 8 km/hr. Suited to novice to intermediate paddlers. A few ripples in the river is about all you come across. No rapids. Beautiful scenery and you may see no one else the entire trip. Take LOT'S of mosquito repellent and sun screen. All land is (Private Property) so either camp below the high water line (legal on private property) or on an island as there are several. (Government property) Wildlife you may expect to see; Deer, Rattle Snake, Eagles and Hawks, Pelicans, Beaver, Coyote, Fox and an abundance of beautifully colored birds which I cannot identify. I have no information about fishing however we saw several large fish jumping. Not advised to eat fish or fresh water clams from this river. Excellent photo opportunities.

Valley of the Moon Dinosaur Provincial Park Alberta
Dinosaur Provincial Park
Alberta Parks
As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Dinosaur Provincial Park is best known for its abundance of...you guessed it...dinosaur bones. Indeed, it remains a favourite field site for palaeontologists from the Royal Tyrrell Museum and the University of Alberta, to name just a few. Valley of the Moon, unlike most other parts of the park, has very few fossils. Also, unlike much of the park, it is relatively flat. Flat enough to make one wonder why the word valley is part of its name at all; it would more accurately be described as a small mesa...however, the reason for the word moon in its name is obvious.

Beaver Flats Interpretive Trail in Kananaskis | Journey Alberta
In this video, I head out to Kananaskis to do the short hike along the Beaver Flats Interpretive Trail! It's a out and back trail, starting at the Beaver Lodge parking lot. From there we walked past a bunch of active beaver ponds, each getting larger than the next. While this is quite a short little trail, it's still quite a scenic one. It's a place I've driven past countless times, and I was glad I stopped by it finally to explore! It's also worth noting that this trail is also accessed from the Beaver Flats Campground, with a couple sites bordering one of the ponds.
