Aussie BBQ, Camp Fire & Blues on the River
October 2014, the world’s most trusted travel publisher, Lonely Planet, named Tassie fourth in the world’s “Top 10 Regions in the World to Visit in 2015” in the Best in Travel 2015 publication and told the world Tasmania is ‘ripe for the picking’. This is your cue to head our way with an appetite and Tin Dragon Trail Cottages is another reason to visit.
To celebrate Tin Dragon Trail Cottages hosted an ‘Aussie BBQ, Camp Fire & Blues on the River” for their guests. The gourmet spread featured fresh local produce including grass-fed beef and lamb, and free-range pork from Ringarooma, Pyengana Dairy award-winning cheeses and icecream, garden-fresh salad vegetables and native pepper, home-made bread and free range eggs from Tin Dragon Trail Cottages, Rhu Brew (unique rhubarb drink from Scottsdale), Little Rivers Co Beer, Scottsdale and Elmslie wines, West Tamar.
For Tin Dragon guests the celebration will continue all through summer, with Aussie-style BBQ packs available for purchase—all featuring great locally-grown and produced foods.
Tin Dragon Trail Cottages is an eco-retreat on the Ringarooma River near Branxholm in North East Tasmania. They offer self-contained two-bedroom and studio-spa cottages. The owners believe in providing thoughtful hospitality so guests can enjoy a peaceful retreat away from their busy lives.
Why Are 96,000,000 Black Balls on This Reservoir?
I took a boat through 96 million black plastic balls on the Los Angeles reservoir to find out why they're there. The first time I heard about shade balls the claim was they reduce evaporation. But it turns out this isn't the reason they were introduced.
Huge thanks to LADWP for arranging this special tour for me. Next time let's put the GoPro on the submersible!
The balls are made of high density polyethylene (HDPE) which is less dense than water so they float on the surface of the reservoir even if they break apart. They are 10cm (4 inches) in diameter and contain about 210ml of water. So the main reason they are on the reservoir is to block sunlight from entering the water and triggering a chemical reaction that turns harmless bromide into carcinogenic bromate. This effect occurs with prolonged exposure to bromate so regulators insist that levels be kept below 10 microgram per liter on average over a 12 month period.

A STORM chaser captures a huge burst of wind and rain which explodes in the sky and crashes to the ground. Shot on August 8, this dramatic timelapse was shot by photographer Bryan Snider, 29, in Tucson, Arizona. The incredibly detailed footage shows a weather event known as a wet microburst which occurs when a cooled column of air sinks rapidly through the middle of a thunder storm. The unique storm phenomena affects an area of no more than two and a half miles and can generate winds of over 150 mph. PREDATOR 6.5HP TOW TRUCK!

This fella rolled up while we were at the Pipeline From Hell. Super cool dude that shared a little bit of info about his rig. One Predator 6.5HP engine to run the drivetrain and a second engine to power the winch/boom truck in the rear. I tried to get him to test the abilities of the rig by pulling Bam Bam out of the Pipeline, but he wasn't too confident about that succeeding...haha!

1093 Digital Dentures with Ryan McCall: Dentistry Uncensored with Howard Farran
Before founding McCall Dentures, Dr Ryan McCall was a typical Midwestern boy from Effingham, IL, a small town with a population of 12,000. Growing up in close proximity to a farm, he was sure about two things, he didn’t want to live in close proximity to a farm forever and he wanted to own a red Subaru Outback! After graduating from dental school, Dr. McCall opened his first office in the super dank city of Fort Collins, CO. His initial marketing tactic was a $15 hand painted sign in the front yard. Fifteen months later, he opened another office and then foolishly spent a full year flying from Indianapolis, IN to Denver, CO running both offices. He knew there had to be a better way for himself and future dentists. 2 years later, McCall Dentures was born and the persona of 2 Chairz took flight. Today, Dr. McCall continues to be involved with the company as Executive Chairman. He is always finding ways to encourage and support others, from making charitable donations to offering leadership advice. Beyond spending time with his wife Meredith and their four children, his two favorite past times are playing video games and posting excessively on Instagram.Yes, he eventually did get that red Outback!
500 Million Thanks from General Motors
Globally, more than 500 million General Motors-branded vehicles have been built – the most of any automaker by far – and the company is putting its customers at the center of the accomplishment.
A half-billion vehicles over 106 years equals billions in commerce, payroll, investments and infrastructure in communities all over the world. For customers, these vehicles played roles in weddings, family vacations, graduations, new businesses and countless milestones along life’s journey.
Here are a few of those stories.
