Malmö is the largest city of the Swedish county of Skåne County, the third-largest city in Sweden, after Stockholm and Gothenburg, and the sixth-largest city in Scandinavia. Today about one third of the Malmö population are from various other countries, making the city the most cosmopolitan in Sweden. This has contributed to a rich cultural life and many exotic and fine food opportunities. The ship building company of Kockums used to be the city's biggest employer, but today the industrial city of old has been replaced by vast areas of middle-class suburban housing and modern eco-friendly neighbourhoods.
At the heart of Malmö lie three squares, called Gustav Adolf's Square (Gustav Adolfs torg), the Big Square (Stortorget) and the Little Square (Lilla torg). Stortorget and Lilla Torg are directly connected at one corner, and a pedestrians only shopping street connects them with Gustav Adolfs torg.
At the center of the Big Square is a statue of King Karl X Gustav of Sweden, who took the city from Danish dominion. The ornate Malmö City Hall (built in 1546) is on the east side, and in the northwest corner is Kockska Huset, the house of Jörgen Kock, a German immigrant who became mayor of the city and achieved wealth simply and directly: by taking control of the city mint. In the winter the square becomes a skating rink.
Malmöhus Castle, located west of the old city core, was built in 1437 by Erik of Pomerania, inhabited by the kings of Denmark in the 1500s, and used as a prison until 1914. Currently it houses a history museum, art museum, aquarium, and terrarium. Sharing the castle grounds are the Kommendanthuset (Commandant's House) used for various exhibitions throughout the year. Fiskehoddorna - a small, traditional fish market - lies nearby.
Turning Torso, completed in 2005, is at 190 m the tallest building in Scandinavia. The building is located in one of the newest, and most expensive, areas of Malmö, and contains a lot of modern architecture and upscale restaurants. The nearby waterfront promenade and open-sea bath is a hugely popular destination during the summertime. There is also a state of the art skateboarding park in the area

Copenhagen[a] (Danish: København [kʰøpm̩ˈhaʊ̯ˀn]) is the capital and most populous city of Denmark. As of July 2018, the city had a population of 1,206,098 in Copenhagen Municipality, 103,914 in Frederiksberg Municipality, 43,005 in Tårnby Municipality, and 14,201 in Dragør Municipality. During the renaissance the city served as the de facto capital being the seat of government of the Kalmar Union , governing the entire present day Nordic region in a personal union with Sweden and Norway ruled by the Danish monarch serving as the head of state. The city flourished as the cultural and economic center of Scandinavia under the union for well over 120 years, starting in the 15th century up until the beginning of the 16th century when the union was dissolved with Sweden leaving the union through a rebellion. After a plague outbreak and fire in the 18th century, the city underwent a period of redevelopment. This included construction of the prestigious district of Frederiksstaden and founding of such cultural institutions as the Royal Theatre and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. After further disasters in the early 19th century when Horatio Nelson attacked the Dano-Norwegian fleet and bombarded the city, rebuilding during the Danish Golden Age brought a Neoclassical look to Copenhagen's architecture. Later, following the Second World War, the Finger Plan fostered the development of housing and businesses along the five urban railway routes stretching out from the city centre.
Since the turn of the 21st century, Copenhagen has seen strong urban and cultural development, facilitated by investment in its institutions and infrastructure. The city is the cultural, economic and governmental centre of Denmark; it is one of the major financial centres of Northern Europe with the Copenhagen Stock Exchange. Copenhagen's economy has seen rapid developments in the service sector, especially through initiatives in information technology, pharmaceuticals and clean technology. Since the completion of the Øresund Bridge, Copenhagen has become increasingly integrated with the Swedish province of Scania and its largest city, Malmö, forming the Øresund Region. With a number of bridges connecting the various districts, the cityscape is characterised by parks, promenades and waterfronts. Malmo has a distinctly European feel with its rich city life, relaxed attitude and unique appeal and character. The STF Malmo City Hostel is in the heart of Malmo. It neighbours the Opera, and pedestrian streets beating to the pulse of the city are on the doorstep. There are plenty of cafes and bars and its never far to shopping, art, culture and design. Enjoy the Danish influenced architecture, examples of which can be seen in the red brick buildings and the half-timbering at Lilla Torg (Little Square). Guests at the hostel can choose from single- double- or multiple-bed rooms, with or without shower and toilet in the room. Vastra Hamnen - the Western Harbour - is one of Malmos newest city sections. This is where the sculptural Turning Torso building rises towards the sky, and you can see the bridge that unites Malmo with its big brother Copenhagen. There are great places to have coffee or a meal along the boardwalk by the beach, or simply enjoy a picnic on the smooth rocks.

What are your breakfast options?We serve a breakfast buffet (Monday-Friday from 07:00 am 10:00 am and on Saturdays and Sundays from 07:30 am 10:30 am). The price is 60 SEK/person/day. Children who are between 0-5 years of age (has not have turned 5 years of age) are free of charge in company with a parent. For children between 5 - 15 years of age will costs 30 SEK, in company with a parent. We also have a guest kitchen for those guests who prefer to make their own meals. What transport is available to get around?Since we are situated in the centre of Malmö it is easy to walk to most places. Otherwise they can buy a 24-hours bus ticket at the city bus office or rent a bike close by. We also sell the Malmö card including parking in the streets for 24 hours/48 hours. It also includes the bus rides within the city for one adult and maximum of 2 children that have not turned 16 yet. The price for the 24-hours card is 170 SEK and the price for the 48-hours card is 200 SEK. Do you have internet?We have Wi-Fi, free of charge, which works in the rooms.

The city is the cultural, economic and governmental centre of Denmark; it is one of the major financial centres of Northern Europe with the Copenhagen Stock Exchange. Copenhagen's economy has seen rapid developments in the service sector, especially through initiatives in information technology, pharmaceuticals and clean technology. Since the completion of the Øresund Bridge, Copenhagen has become increasingly integrated with the Swedish province of Scania and its largest city, Malmö, forming the Øresund Region. With a number of bridges connecting the various districts, the cityscape is characterised by parks, promenades and waterfronts. Copenhagen's landmarks such as Tivoli Gardens, The Little Mermaid statue, the Amalienborg and Christiansborg palaces, Rosenborg Castle Gardens, Frederik's Church, and many museums, restaurants and nightclubs are significant tourist attractions. The largest lake of Denmark, Arresø, lies around 27 miles (43 kilometers) northwest of the City Hall Square.
Copenhagen is home to the University of Copenhagen, the Technical University of Denmark, Copenhagen Business School and the IT University of Copenhagen. The University of Copenhagen, founded in 1479, is the oldest university in Denmark. Copenhagen is home to the FC København and Brøndby football clubs. The annual Copenhagen Marathon was established in 1980. Copenhagen is one of the most bicycle-friendly cities in the world.
The Copenhagen Metro launched in 2002 serves central Copenhagen. Additionally the Copenhagen S-train, the Lokaltog (private railway) and the Coast Line network serves and connects central Copenhagen to outlying boroughs. Serving roughly two million passengers a month, Copenhagen Airport, Kastrup, is the busiest airport in the Nordic countries.
