A visit to the Ruislip Lido Railway - Episode 15 of Miniature Railway Britain.
Starting on a Metropolitan Line S Stock train we arrive at Ruislip, call in at Waitrose for a coffee before walking thought a pleasant residential area to Park Woods which we walk through to Ruislip Lido itself.
After a quick walk on the beach we have a look behind the scenes at the carriage and engine sheds along with their P Way yard and workshop where we see their steam locomotive Mad Bess based on ‘Blanche’ on the Ffestiniog Railway in North Wales.
We then enjoy a look in the control office before buying a ticket to Haste Hill, the least used station in London. On the way we look at how the railway has developed.
The Ruislip Lido Railway first opened in 1946, taken over by the society in 1980, extended to Eleanor’s Loop in 1986. The line was extended again to Haste Hill to in 1992 and finally to Ruislip Lido station in 1997 which has since been renamed Willow Lawn.

Steam on the Littlehampton Miniature Railway 2012
A short video, taken in the afternoon of Sunday 6th May 2012, showing the Fairbourne Steam Railway owned Sherpa steam locomotive on the Littlehampton Miniature Railway in West Sussex. The loco is currently on loan to the LMR and is a 0-4-0ST Half full size Darjeeling & Himalayan Class B locomotive. Designed by Neil Simkins, it was constructed by Milner Engineering (Chester) in 1978. Built for the Réseau Guerlédan, Brittany, Sherpa was originally named France. The usual loco in operation is No.1, a Bo-Bo diesel hydraulic 23hp Honda Power unit driving an Eaton 7240 Hydraulic pump with 2000 Series wheel motors'. The Littlehampton Railway is the oldest 12.25 gauge railway in Britain. First opened in 1948, the miniature railway at Littlehampton has seen many ups and downs over the years and the current owners intend to ensure that the railway once again becomes a credit to the town and is seen as an essential part of a day out to the seaside on the South Coast.
