Outskirts of Shanghai LuZhi historic old town
Luzhi Town, 甪直镇 is a famous historic old town located in the in Kunshan city, Wuzhong District, about 11 miles, 18 km east of Suzhou, Jiangsu province, China.
It was also known as Puli 甫里 an ancient name for this town.
At that time, Puli consisted of two districts: Puli 甫里 and Liuzhi 六直. Liuzhi meant that there were six straight rivers in the town. In the Suzhou dialect, liu was pronounced as lu, and 六直 pronounced as Luzhi. At the end of the Qing Dynasty, Puli was changed to Luzhi township of Yuanhe County.
Luzhi is famous for its numerous quaint stone bridgestone and its beautiful waterways. At one time, there were 72 bridges in the tiny town. 41 still exist and are well preserved. All of the bridges are different in design and style. A walk in the ancient town Luzhi is said to be a walk into history frozen in time, tranquil and serene.
Luzhi is one of the best preserved old towns in China. In 2004, Luzhi was awarded a Township Preservation Award by UNESCO.

10. Well, it was supposed to look like a dove, but you’ll have to make your own decision on that. Daniel Alamsjah had a revelation back in the early 90s that pushed him to build a structure as a prayer room… in the form of a dove… in the middle of the Indonesian jungle. It cost him only $170 for the land and the building is now open to visitors of all faiths. At one time, it housed disabled children, drug addicts and the mentally challenged. Most people believe it looks a lot more like a chicken than a dove. I would be one of them.

9. Uhhhh…. This next story’s pretty fishy… Ok… really fishy. An eccentric millionaire in Turkey had an aquarium fence built around his mansion in 2005. The villa itself is a very nice spectacle in itself, but add the huge fish tank around it and it becomes quite a tourist attraction. Cost of the aquarium – filled with hundreds of fish -- was $21,000, which, to me, sounds like a bargain for something of that scope.

8. Here’s something architect’s don’t hear every day: Uhhh… make my house look like a… a toilet… yeah. No, I don’t imagine they do, but the late mayor of Suwon, South Korea thought it would be a really good idea to have a 2-story home built looking like a toilet. It probably helped that the World Toilet Association had its inaugural meeting there in 2007. Good job, guys… Just remember to put the seat down.

7. Ok… you’re gonna get a real kick out of this one. In 1948, Colonel Mahlon M. Haines, a millionaire who owned 40 shoe stores in Pennsylvania and Maryland, gave an architect an old boot and said to make him a house modeled after the boot. So the architect did. Now, many tourists visit The Haines Shoe House, on Shoe House Road, of course, in York County, Pennsylvania. It also has a dog house, shaped like a shoe.

6. Near Salzburg, Austria, we have the Beetle House. Nope, not the John, Paul, George and Ringo type…. The Volkswagen Beetle type. Its owners bought a regular 1970s house there and sure did a lot of renovating to it. It was completed in 2003 and is eco-friendly and energy efficient. There’s even a similar style restaurant nearby, simply called, “The Car.”

5. It took architect and sculptor Robert Bruno 23 years to build the Steel House in Ransom Canyon, Texas. Made out of 110 tons of steel, the house was featured in an episode of Texas Country Reporter just before Bruno’s death. A few years ago, it was featured in Vogue, and is considered by many to be an art piece.

4. A Chinese millionaire has built seven fairytale castles in his hometown and wants to build lots more. Inspired by buildings in Munich, Liu Chonghua has his sights set on building 100 beautiful castles throughout the land. Chonghua was once very poor, but made his money in the catering industry from baking cakes. Baking cakes. Who would have guessed?

In 1935, famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright built the Fallingwater House over the Bear Stream waterfall in Pennsylvania for the Kaufmann family, which owned, at the time, the very popular Kaufmann Department Store. The Kaufmanns hired Wright when they wanted to modernize the cabin where they stayed during vacations. Strangely, it’s hard to see the waterfall from the house.

2. A millionaire doctor in Beijing just wasn’t satisfied with his own 26-story building, so he put a private mountain on top of it. Yes, that’s right. A mountain. The rooftop mountain took more than 6 years to put together. It has trees, rocks, grass… pretty much everything a scenic mountain could have. It brings a little country to the city’s landscape. Unfortunately, the doctor didn’t get the right permits to erect the mountain, and was ordered to remove it. You would think that would have been brought up sometime during the six years it took to put it together.

It’s on the southwest coast of France and hardly consists of any straight lines or angles. It has almost 13,000 square feet of living space, with 28 round rooms. It’s often used for parties and other events and has been deemed a historical monument by France’s Ministry of Culture. Awww… Oiu.

'Huoba Ghar: The Minhe Mangghuer (Tu) Torch Festival
The Torch Festival is held on the fifteenth day of the first lunar month (according to the Chinese lunar calendar)in the Mangghuer (Tu) areas of Minhe County. Each family makes a torch of wood and straw. When the moon rises, each family puts seven piles of straw outside their courtyard gate. Next, they light the torch in the main room of the home. A family member takes the burning torch and goes to each room of the home, as well as to the livestock pens then goes outside and lights at least one of the piles of straw. A family member then carries the burning torch to the top of a nearby hill. When this person leaves for the hill, other family members light the other piles of straw and jump over the burning piles of straw three times in the order of the courtyard gate to further away from the gate.
The torchbearers from each family in the village gather on the hill, put their tornches together, and jump over this larger fire three times. Next, they return home and eat 'bianshi' or boiled stuffed dumplings.
This particular film was filmed and edited by Wen Xiangcheng in Wenjia (Wen Family Village), Zhongchuan Township, Minhe Hui and Tu Autonomous County, Haidong Region, Qinghai Province, PR China in 2004.
This festival is called 'Huoba Ghar' (Torch Ascend_a_Hill/Mountain_With_a_Torch).

UK China Charity Initiative
At Mansion House in December 2019 at a special dinner with HE Liu Xiaoming and The Lord Mayor, the UK-China Charity Initiative was launched by The Lord Mayor's Appeal and China Chamber of Commerce in the UK (CCCUK) to raise funds for The Lord Mayor's Appeal charities in the UK (50%) and CCCUK poverty alleviation projects in China (50%).
The first Chinese project was the construction of a multi-media room for a rural school in Shaanxi Province which was completed in May 2019 and was fully operational in August 2019. The funding for the Initiative was from the launch dinner and the Chinese Year reception for over 300 guests at Mansion House in February 2019. The overall funds raised amounted to £40,000 which was split 50/50 between the Initiative and The Lord Mayor's Appel charities, Place2Be, OnSide Youth Zones and Samaritans. The Bank of China supervised the overall project and financial control in China.
Following the success of the first project, both CCCUK and The Lord Mayor's Appeal agreed to start a second project. HE Liu Xiaoming and the Chinese Embassy produced a list of potential projects in Jinping County, Yunnan province which in turn were discussed and evaluated by CCCUK and LMA. A project in Daluo village was selected to construct a clinic which will provide medical treatment and epidemic prevention services. The overall funding required for the project is approximately RMB 250,000 and The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will oversee the project in China.
On 3rd September at the China dinner at Guildhall with HE Liu Xiaoming and The Lord Mayor, a video was shown which gave an overview of the Initiative and formally launched the second project.
To raise the RMB 500,000 (2*250,000), LMA and CCCUK will hold a fund-raising event at Mansion House on 31st January 2020. However, as President Xi has given a target for all poverty alleviation projects to be completed by 31st December 2019, the Initiative would like to use the opportunity of the WCEC gala dinner to raise the funds.

►Synopsis：
The story is Yue Wuyi, a son of a wealthy Chang’an Family leaves home on a journery of cultivation. He wants to find the master of Perform Yan-Xie Yi. Along the way, he meets Wen Renyu, Xia Yize and Ah Ruan. Yue Wuyi finally finds Xie Yi and becomes his student. Meanwhile, a evil force named Liu Yue emerges which make Yue Wuyi and his friends in dangerous. Xie Yi sacrifices himself to save his student. In order to avenage Xie Yi and stop Liu Yue’s conspiracy, Yue Wuyi and his friends find the powerful and ancient sword Zhaoming. At the end, they stop the priest Shen Ye from destroy the world.
