First 2019 Spring paddle on the Muskoka River to South Falls in Bracebridge from Liv Outside
Out for my first SUP paddle of the season up to South Falls. This is a 10km round trip from Liv Outside up the Muskoka Rivers South Branch. This is one of our most popular trips for visitors to our shop from May to October. The river is open usually by mid March but during the Spring run off it can be a challenging paddle against the current to get to this great spot but is an opportunity to get out and view the Falls when they are at their most powerful. Caution should always be taken when paddling in colder condition and when spending anytime on foot around these falls as there is always danger of the moving water and the terrain around the falls is steep and can be slippery so proper footwear should be used. Anytime when paddling in Spring you should have the proper apparel, have an emergency kit, Safety throw line and always wear a well fitting PFD. In these conditions with Ice around and cold temperatures I never paddle without a dry suit, layered clothing and emergency reflective blanket. Get out and enjoy Spring paddling but please do it responsibly.

Brunch Life Pop-Up | Bracebridge Ontario | Muskoka Brewery | Fidel Gastro
Matt heads out to beautiful Bracebridge Ontario in this episode for a Brunch Life pop-up at the Muskoka Brewery. Every year they do an event called What's good in Bracebrige?, but this is the first year they've had a brunch life pop-up.
After a late arrival Matt and the crew wake up at 8AM to get started on the day's activities. After some local coffee and some pastries they head out to the Bracebridge Community Center which they will be using as a prep kitchen.
In the prep kitchen we see Matt and his crew cooking up some marvelous looking Belgian waffles, home made French fries, fried chicken, onions, and more. After a thorough tour of the brewery Matt and the team settle in around a handcrafted fire-pit that actually has the Muskoka Brewery logo cut out of the metal, exposing the fire behind it. It's an impressive effect.
They offload everything into the brewery and plan their next move. Later that night Matt makes the bold move of going on a paranormal ghost tour. Ky was too scared to film it so the team used a phone camera instead. He toured the historic Woodchester Villa, along with several other well known haunting spots. Interestingly enough, Bracebridge has quite a history with ghosts. It has a strong enough history in fact that there are enough tales about the architecture, ghost sightings, and experiences there to give guided paranomal tours through the town. They wrap up the ghost adventure with cheeseburgers and prepare for the next day.
Day 2 starts out with everyone at the brewery preparing for the pop-up. In a short time they construct a make-shift kitchen and start making every sort of brunch food anyone might care to eat. We see some footage of the dishes prepared and one stands out head and shoulders above the rest. The plate is piled high with chicken and waffles and it looks amazing.
The turnout was exceptional and everyone seemed to really enjoy their brunch.
Be sure to tune in for the whole episode and as always thank you for watching. If you liked what you saw subscribe to the Fidel Gastro channel so you don't miss any of the stellar upcoming content.
If you happen to be in Toronto stop by the Lisa Marie restaurant and experience delicacies made by the masters themselves. You can see their menu as well as the food truck and catering options at their website:
