Chatting with a native at the Living Desert State Park in Broken Hill
This friendly bird seemed very interested on me since we arrived at the Living Desert State Park. He let me stand very close to it during our chat.
I just loved being so close to the animals during our road trip and stay in Nyngan and Broken Hill.
YOUR4X4 Episode 134: Broken Hill Part 1
This week we are exploring one of Australia’s most known gateways to the Outback - Broken Hill.
A popular kick off point or fuel stop for outback touring from the Eastern states, broken Hill is awash with history, appeal, sights and scenes that are well worth the time to explore.
For our first episode we join up with local identities and one of Australia’s most awarded tour guide companies, Tri State Safaris. But far from your typical outback tour, we are in for a real treat, as Mick and Joe from Tri State take us to a little known and highly protected location that is host to the world’s largest collection of ancient petroglyphs. Carved by the local aboriginals and dated to at least 11,000 years old, it’s an incredible experience to walk amongst such a site.
This episode also has plenty of off road touring, takes in the Living Desert Sculptures and we finish with a local astronomer for some outback star gazing.
Ep3. Broken Hill and Beyond - RV7 Flying Travel VLOG
On this episode of our Australian Adventure we spend a few days in the sweltering heat at Broken Hill. We meet John, Broken Hill's best tour guide, who takes us around most of the significant sights in Broken Hill. We hire a car and spend a day in the outback town of Silverton. Our departure is delayed due to bad weather. We finally get underway and head west for Wilpena Pound.

NSW Locations Reel - Make your film here
NSW is ‘a place for every story’:
NSW scenery can double for locations across the United States, Great Britain, Asia, Europe and the Middle East. It has world-class production facilities at Fox Studios, located just 10 minutes from the CBD.
This video showcases the NSW that filmmakers don’t see every day, and really promotes the incredible choice and adaptability that our stunning regional and metro locations have to offer international filmmakers.
Parts of NSW have doubled for the Lake District in Peter Rabbit, been the studio base for Alien: Covenant and most recently our modern Barangaroo complex and parts of Cronulla have delivered the futuristic and dystopian setting for Universal’s Pacific Rim: Uprising.
NSW is hugely film-friendly and has a workforce dedicated to helping filmmakers through the entire process. We are delighted to be able to capture the best of our landscape offering through this teaser and excited to showcase it to Hollywood later this month.

At the Drive-in: A Call for Action - A Call for Submissions
A WORLD WHERE THE DEAD ROAM THE STREET
A SOCIETY STRUGGLING TO UNDERSTAND
ARTISTS READY TO FACE THE TRUTH
Australia is in a state of emergency. A virus is turning people into zombies -- snarling, unpredictable and dangerous. Most alarmingly, the virus comes and goes leaving humans who only vaguely remember...
Society is in chaos. The government is struggling to normalise the situation; scientists are searching for a cure; vigilantes urging extermination; and somewhat strangely, accounts of alien activity are contributing to the general panic.
In August the government hosts its first initiative promoting awareness between those affected with the H1N1 virus and the general population. This event, At the Drive-in -- takes place at Hazelhurst Galleries, Gymea, and later in the Living Desert outside Broken Hill, New South Wales.
The Government has called for submissions for this event:
1. Short films -- 15-90 seconds in length, that document or observe aspects of life for young people trying to adjust to this terrifying new world
2. Works of art from those affected by the H1N1 virus -- whether they be digital media, photographs, time-based or otherwise
3. Diary entries / journals / blogs from critical moments in the crisis -- from the point of view of those affected
4. Educational initiatives aimed at promoting greater understanding and empathy, along with survival and well-being strategies for coping with the drastic changes in society.
5. Interviews or factual accounts of those who have come into contact or observed alien activity.
Successful submissions will be screened / curated at The Hazelhurst Gallery and in the Living Desert in conjunction with the At the Drive-in health and safety initiative. Entries will also be curated on the popular and effective website promoting health and well-being for the new society.
Further information will be made available at:
All submissions must be made to design@shopfront.org.au as either:

Submissions should be made no later than 18th August.

Abandoned Perilously dangerous explore
Abandoned early Australian post office I explored beginning of last Spring that really was a risky explore due to the extent of deterioration to the dwelling. I'm pretty sure it was a post office but I could be wrong but I don't think so. Ha! The termites have almost completely destroyed this place and as you can hear in the video I wasn't lying about how risky it was. This place is once again in Northern NSW of Australia and sort of in the region of Tenterfield. I'd have to say the patina of some of the internal lining timbers was beautiful and with people looking for aged timber for interior decorating and lining walls etc I'm surprised they are still there. Thank goodness for isolation huh! I might just go back soon and get me some of those boards since I maybe building a house soon and they would look great on a feature wall. Anyway, I digress.
YES, I had sensible shoes on for all my concerned viewers out there that don't think my thongs are sensible footwear for exploring. They will be back. I'm not still and with the weather heating up like it had so early, it was prime snake weather to be coming out of hibernation. It looked like some one had swatted in the bedroom a while back from the state of belongings in that room. It did seem odd that the dunny was so far removed from the house yet there was the other one closer to the house with the mummified lizard remains. I wouldn't be surprised if the house has totally collapsed on my next visit. Leave a comment and give me a thumbs up. Subscribe if you like my videos and don't forget to click the bell to get notifications of my new videos.
What would you like to see next time? an abandoned alternative living camp in the rainforest that I'd love to own, an amazing classic car grave yard some of which I've posted pics on my Instagram or an gawjuss pole home in the tropics of Queensland ravaged by a tropical cyclone last year? Let me know

Dirtbike Downunder Grampians Ride 2016 | Part 1 | 'Sandy Trails'
Advrider.com friends and local riders converge on the Grampians to partake in a great weekend of trail riding. We had 11 riders on Saturday, and the ride began with beautiful weather and high spirits.
Riders were represented on a variety of bikes :
Jak : Husaberg 570
Kristen : KTM 570
Michael : KTM 625 SCX
Marty : Suzuki DRZ400
Paul : Suzuki DR650
Tori : Husqvarna TE610
Lisa : Husqvarna TE630
Sam : Suzuki DR250
Jane : Husqvarna 701 Enduro
Kinga : Kawasaki KX450
Oz : KTM 250EXC
The trails started out easily, and we tore through them without too much trouble. Bushland trails made way to a water crossing, then we headed closer to the range and along some very sandy channels, rutted with tree-roots etc. Riders kept their bikes upright for the most part, and the pace was good. We had a very mixed group of bikes, the biggest being a DR650, all the way down to a lightweight 2-stroke KTM 250EXC.
Michael ran into some issues with his KTM . . . well not really the KTM, but his rear tyre developed a flat - and all efforts to change it were fraught. This delayed the ride a little while, and we were to head back to home base to fit Michael out with a beat-up but faithful KLX250.
Part 2 of this ride will be coming soon, with steep and rocky trails taking the place of the fast and flowing flat sandy riding of the morning. Would all the bikes survive the afternoon? Make sure to tune in again to find out.
