EURO2--24: LLANBERIS LAKE RAILWAY, JULIO 2 015, LLANBERIS-GALES, U.K.

Llanberis Lake Railway
The Llanberis Lake Railway at the foot of Snowdon in North Wales offers a memorable trip behind one of the quaint, historic steam engines that used to work in the nearby Dinorwic Slate Quarry. Visit lake-railway.co.uk
LLanberis Lake Railway in Snowdonia North Wales
LLanberis Lake Railway was as train ride along the lake which was near to the base of Mount Snowdon. The train ride to go up Mount Snowdon was booked up, but we managed to get the last train ride along the side of the lake instead. It took an hour and 10 minutes for the train ride there and back. The train stopped for a quick break at one of the stops. If you were to get an earlier train, you would be able to get on and off the couple of stops in between and then catch a returning train.

Llyn Padarn Walk, Llanberis Walks, Snowdonia Walks In Gwynedd, Wales, UK
This Llyn Padarn Walk was about 5 miles in distance. The terrain of the route was a combination of woodland paths, tracks and lanes around Llyn Padarn with some great viewpoints along the way. The walking was mostly easy on level ground except for some steps and a little moderate ascent and descent near the start of the walk. Route finding was easy with obvious paths, good waymarking and good landmarks. There were no stiles to climb over, just one squeeze-stile.

Llanberis Lake Railway 1
One of two clips taken on Tuesday 22nd September 2009 showing the Llanberis 2ft narrow gauge lake railway. Starting at Gilfach Ddu, the journey takes you past the 13th century Dolbadarn Castle, crossing possibly Britain's shortest river and passing Llanberis' twin lakes as the train negotiates the extension (opened in 2003) to Llanberis village. From here the train runs non-stop through the Padarn Country Park, joining the 1845 slate railway route to run along the shores of Lake Padarn to Penllyn, and giving stunning views of Snowdon, the highest peak in England and Wales. On its return, the train makes a short stop at Cei Llydan, an ideal place for a lakeside picnic, before arriving back at Gilfach Ddu. The five mile return trip takes around 60 minutes, and all advertised trains are scheduled to be hauled by one of the vintage steam engines rescued from the nearby Dinorwic slate quarries.
The Llanberis Lake Railway - 26/08/11
A short video of a few services on the Llanberis Lake Railway whilst they were running their B Timetable. The locomotive featured in this video is ex-Quarry Hunslet 0-4-0ST no.3 'Dolbadarn' built in 1922 for use in the Dinorwic slate quarry.
Shots included in this video are:
- The former quarry with the old winding houses shown on the left.
- 'Dolbadarn' runs along the s-bend and into Llanberis Station.
- 'Dolbadarn' seen shortly after leaving Llanberis Station slowing for the first road crossing.
- 'Dolbadarn' departing Gilfach Ddu Station passing the National Slate Museum.
- A locomotive is seen on a service on the Snowdon Mountain Railway. We did manage to get a ride up to the top of Snowdon but when we got there it was just covered in cloud so we couldn't see anything =(
- 'Dolbadarn' seen running over the first road crossing.

HD Ride on Steam Engine, Wyddfa, Mount Snowdon, 24th July 2019 & Llanberis Lake Railway
Went for a steam engine ride up Snowdon, last year went on a diesel as seen on this link
The Snowdon Mountain Railway (SMR; Welsh: Rheilffordd yr Wyddfa) is a narrow gauge rack and pinion mountain railway in Gwynedd, north-west Wales. It is a tourist railway that travels for 4.7 miles (7.6 km) from Llanberis to the summit of Snowdon, the highest peak in Wales.[4] The SMR is the only public rack and pinion railway in the United Kingdom,[5] and after more than 100 years of operation it remains a popular tourist attraction, carrying more than 130,000 passengers annually.[6] The line is owned and operated by Heritage Great Britain,[7] operators of several other tourist attractions in the United Kingdom. The railway is operated in some of the harshest weather conditions in Britain, with services curtailed from reaching the summit in bad weather and remaining closed during the winter from November to mid-March. Single carriage trains are pushed up the mountain by either steam locomotives or diesel locomotives. It has also previously used diesel railcars as multiple units. The SMR was the inspiration for the fictional Culdee Fell Railway, appearing in the book Mountain Engines, part of The Railway Series. Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends books written by Reverend W. Awdry. Also went for a ride on Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railway on Engine 109 Lyd,. Lyd is a 2-6-2T locomotive running on the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways. Completed in 2010, it is a replica of a locomotive that used to run on the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway. The Ffestiniog Railway or Rheilffordd Ffestiniog (previously spelled Festiniog Railway) is a narrow gauge railway running from Porthmadog Harbour Station to Blaenau Ffestiniog in North Wales. Built, owned an operated by the Festiniog Railway Company it opened in 1836 and continues to operate as a popular tourist attraction. It is also common (and correct Welsh) that people use the Ffestiniog instead of Festiniog way of spelling. By its Parliamentary Act of 1832, the Railway Company was incorporated using the Anglicised, single F, spelling and ever since its legal entity has been the Festiniog Railway Company. As a business that operated within a frequently Welsh-speaking community it is hardly surprising that the proper Welsh spelling, the double Ff, sometimes slipped into written records during the old company's days. During the 1970s - 1980s, in a response to a different cultural climate, the Company investigated the process for altering the legal entity and adopt the double Ff. The excessive cost of a complex process (including a new Act of Parliament) precluded any such action. During the 1990s, however, a conscious effort was made to promote the use of the double Ff and this form is now used on virtually all paperwork, save for essential legal documents. The exception to this is the FR Heritage Group, by virtue of its interest in the historical aspects of the railway. The Snowdon Mountain Railway is a narrow gauge rack and pinion mountain railway in Gwynedd, north-west Wales. It is a tourist railway that travels for 4.7 miles from Llanberis to the summit of Snowdon, the highest peak in Wales. Also went The Llanberis Lake Railway, a 1 ft 11 ¹⁄₂ in narrow gauge heritage railway that runs for 2.5 miles along the northern shore of Llyn Padarn in north Wales in the Snowdonia National Park.

SNOWDON MOUNTAIN RAILWAY - STEAM TRAIN - Llanberis - Wales - United Kingdom
After our climb up Snowdon the day before we decided the next day to take the Steam Train up to the Summit.
Take the Journey with us to 1085m / 3,560ft. The weather wasn't fantastic for this majestic mountain top adventure but it gives you an insight. Since filming the video a new Station, Café and Tourist Centre has opened at the summit top.
Spanning three centuries the Railway is acutely aware of it's legacy. Recently new carriages have been built and commissioned to ensure that visitors to North Wales can continue to enjoy the unique Mountain Railway experience for many years to come.
Pushed by one of the Hunslet Engine Company diesel locomotives (1985) and the new carriages now seats 74 passengers, 10 per compartment. Departures leave Llanberis every day March to October on the hour and on the half hour. Journey time to the summit is one hour with a 30 minute stop over at the peak.
The Snowdon Lily is built on the original chassis and bogey from the original carriage of 1896. The unique original nature of the railway means that visitors will experience exactly what people did back in 1896 and see for themselves how beautiful the mountain is as they journey through the clouds to Yr Wyddfa, Snowdon.
Pushed by one of three working steam locomotives from 1896, the Snowdon Lily is an accurate re-construction of one of the original Snowdon Mountain Tramroad & Hotels Co Ltd 1896 observation carriages. Its a fantastic adventure and we hope this video gives you an idea of what to look forward to.
