Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch is a large village and community on the island of Anglesey in Wales, situated on the Menai Strait next to the Britannia Bridge and across the strait from Bangor. It has the longest place name in Europe and one of the longest place names in the world. The short form of the name is Llanfairpwllgwyngyll or Llanfair Pwllgwyngyll. It is commonly known as Llanfair PG or Llanfairpwll.
At the 2001 census the population of the community was 3,040,[1] 76% of whom speak Welsh fluently; the highest percentage of speakers is in the 10--14 age group, where 97.1% speak Welsh.[citation needed] It is the sixth largest settlement on the island by population.
Visitors stop at the railway station to be photographed next to the station sign, visit the nearby Visitors' Centre, or have 'passports' stamped at a local shop. Another tourist attraction is the nearby Marquess of Anglesey's Column, which at a height of 27 metres (89 ft) offers views over Anglesey and the Menai Strait. Designed by Thomas Harrison, the monument celebrates the heroism of Henry Paget, 1st Marquess of Anglesey at the Battle of Waterloo.

The long form of the name is the longest officially recognised place name in the United Kingdom and one of the longest in the world at 58 characters (51 letters since ch and ll are digraphs, or single letters, in the Welsh language).
The name means: [St.] Mary's Church (Llanfair) [in] the hollow (pwll) of the white hazel (gwyngyll) near (goger) the rapid whirlpool (y chwyrndrobwll) [and] the church of [St.] Tysilio (llantysilio) with a red cave ([a]g ogo goch).
This village was originally known as Llanfair Pwllgwyngyll (and is sometimes still referred to as Llanfairpwllgwyngyll) and was given its long name in the 19th century in an attempt to develop it as a commercial and tourist centre (see Significance of the name below). The village is still signposted Llanfairpwllgwyngyll, marked on Ordnance Survey maps as Llanfair Pwllgwyngyll and known to locals as Llanfairpwll or Llanfair.
The name is also shortened to Llanfair PG, which is sufficient to distinguish it from the many other Welsh villages with Llanfair in their names. Other variant forms use the full name but with tysilio mutated to dysilio, and/or with a hyphen between drobwll and llan. In Welsh, the initial Ll may be mutated to a single L in some contexts.

Welcome to Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwyllllantysiliogogogoch
At 58 letters, Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwyllllantysiliogogogoch is the longest town name in all of Europe. It wasn't always the town's name, though—in the 1860s, the name was developed as a way to entice tourists to make the town a stop on their travels. It's an amalgamation of the Welsh words and names for local landmarks, and it's probably the best PR stunt of the 1860s—or today. So yeah, welcome to Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwyllllantysiliogogogoch! You don't need to be able to say it to enjoy your stay.

Llanfairpwll, Request Stop Station (18th November 2017)
This Station is a request stop on Anglesey, Wales, it's the first station on the line after leaving Bangor Station after crossing the Britannia Bridge.

Station was again closed in January 1973 for four months and reopened with two non-wooden platforms.

-Electronic Information Board
-Bus stop style waiting shelters
-Footbridge

Half an Hour at (89) - Llanfairpwll Station 16.2.2015 - Manchester WAG
Video 89 takes me filming off the UK mainland for the first time, to Anglesey. Llanfairpwll is known for having the UK's longest place name, and longest station nameplate and probably smallest station, with platforms barely able to take a 2 car DMU. The station is situated about a mile north of the Britannia Bridge, which was built by Stephenson. Included in this video is the afternoon Manchester WAG service and a class 158 on a Cardiff to Holyhead service. Also the above mentioned name board, which attracted at least a dozen people to have their photo's taken in front of it during this 30 minute period.

It may be a mouthful to say, but Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch in north west Wales was one of the warmest places in the UK today.
And, it was no problem for our Welsh weather presenter Liam Dutton to mention it on today’s weather forecast.

[Wikipedia] Llanfairpwll railway station
Llanfairpwll railway station is a station on the North Wales Coast Line from London Euston to Holyhead on Anglesey, serving the village of Llanfairpwllgwyngyll, Wales.
Opened in 1848, it suffered a catastrophic fire on 13 November 1865 and had to be totally re-constructed. It was closed in 1966 but reopened in 1970 due to the fire on the Britannia Bridge as the terminus for trains from Holyhead, with a single wooden platform. It was again closed in January 1973 for four months and reopened with two non-wooden platforms. The station master's house was sold in 1994 to a private company and is now a warehouse shop. The footbridge between the two platforms (the only one on the island) and the signal box remain from the original configuration. However, a turntable, sidings and goods yard have disappeared, the latter two under a car park.
The station is known for its longer name, Llanfairpwllgwyngyll-gogerychwyrndrobwll-llantysilio-gogogoch, but this is a Victorian contrivance for the benefit of tourists with no basis in historical usage. It comprises the full name of the village, plus local topographical details, plus the name of a neighbouring church etc. The hyphens are usually omitted. The actual longest railway station name in Wales (indeed the UK) is Rhoose Cardiff International Airport railway station.
